Man rapes 5-year-old in Agra temple, arrested; probe underway

The incident took place on May 18 when the girl was playing near the temple. The accused, Pavitra, is alleged to have taken her inside the temple and raped her.

Agra police commissionerate said in a post on X that the incident took in the Jagdishpura area and the accused has been arrested.

"We have zero tolerance in cases of crime against women especially children. A detailed probe is on in the matter," it said.
UP state women commission chief Babita Chauhan on Wednesday met the girl and also visited the temple. She also took information about the case from the police and said that the case will be tried in the fast track court.

The Allahabad high court on Wednesday stayed the conviction of Abbas Ansari, son of the late gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, in a 2022 hate speech case. Abbas Ansari. (File) Justice Sameer Jain stayed the May 31 order of the MP-MLA court, Mau, which had convicted Abbas under sections 153-A (promoting enmity between groups) and 189 (threatening a public servant) of the IPC and sentenced him to two years' rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of ₹2,000. Following the conviction, Abbas had lost his membership of the UP assembly. Now, according to his counsel, advocate Upendra Upadhyay, the high court's order staying the conviction will restore Abbas Ansari's assembly membership. He was elected from the Mau constituency on a Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party (SBSP) ticket in 2022. Abbas had earlier challenged the conviction before the sessions court, which on July 5 rejected his plea for a stay. He then moved the high court for relief. The case pertained to a speech made during the 2022 assembly elections, in which Abbas allegedly targeted a government officer. His remarks, captured on video, had gone viral on social media, leading to the case. It may be recalled that the CJM MP-MLA court, Mau, had convicted Abbas Ansari and sentenced him to two years of imprisonment in a 2022 hate speech case. The order was passed on May 31, 2025. His election agent, Mansoor Ansari, who was present on the stage during the rally, was also convicted and sentenced to six months in jail.

Unnati Fortune, ex-director face ED chargesheet
Lucknow: The directorate of enforcement (ED), Lucknow, filed a prosecution complaint (equivalent to chargesheet) under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) 2002, against M/s Unnati Fortune Holdings Ltd and its former director and major shareholder Anil Mithas. An anti-corruption court has taken cognizance of the complaint, finding sufficient material on record to proceed against the accused. Anil is currently in judicial custody. The next hearing is scheduled for Sep 1. The complaint, submitted by ED details a complex web of alleged financial irregularities. The ED's investigation stems from four FIRs registered by the UP police and the Economic Offence Wing (EOW), Delhi against Anil and Unnati Fortune Holdings Ltd. Based on these FIRs, the ED registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) on Dec 23, 2024, to initiate an investigation under PMLA. Investigation revealed that Unnati Fortune Holdings Ltd and Anil were allegedly involved in the money laundering. The probe uncovered Proceeds of Crime (POC) worth Rs 126.30 crores. The ED's submissions to the court highlighted that Anil as the former director and Unnati Fortune Holdings Ltd are directly implicated in the generation, possession and use of these proceeds of crime. 'Equally as bad, having to read about and address allegations I know to be false involving the words 'rape' and 'assault' has been an absolute nightmare,' Costner said. Evidence submitted by Costner As part of his filing, Costner included dozens of on-set photos of LaBella. He said the contested scene was not a rape scene but a foreshadowing sequence for two violent offscreen assaults referenced in the film's narrative. He added that LaBella 'was laughing and smiling during the blocking of the shot in question.' Crew members also supported Costner's account. Stunt coordinator Wade Allen, who hired and oversaw LaBella, and Roger Ivens, the other performer in the scene, both stated she showed no signs of distress or discomfort on the day of filming. Details of LaBella's allegations LaBella, who worked as a stunt double for actress Ella Hunt, filed her lawsuit in May 2024, accusing Costner and the film's production companies of harassment, sexual discrimination, and creating a hostile work environment. She claimed she was subjected to a 'violent unscripted, unscheduled rape scene' directed by Costner in May 2023. In June, she amended her lawsuit with text messages allegedly exchanged with intimacy coordinator Celeste Cheney. In them, LaBella described the incident as an 'abomination' and asked who would take responsibility for what she called an abuse of power on set. Costner's legal defense Costner's lawyer, Marty Singer, previously denied LaBella's accusations, saying she was rehearsing an insert shot for a scripted sequence.
