Sabah retain overall title

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah deaf athletes successfully defended their overall title in the National Deaf Athletics Championship held at the City Stadium in Penang over the weekend. They took home 11 gold, three silver and two bronze medals to top the medal table for the second time following their maiden victory last year where they collected eight golds, seven silvers and five bronzes. The gold medals winners were Steffy Stacy Lakim (100m, 200m, long jump), Daniel Allex Bobay Alex (200m, 400m, long jump), Elvinsoon Tiono Tinus (discus, shot put), men's 4x400m (Daniel Allex, Ali Uwais Redzuan, Azlan Kuste, Aidil Asyraff Juakim); 4x100m mixed (J. Walddren J. Oswald, Ali Uwais Redzuan, Steffy Stacy Lakim, Atasya Faqeha Juakim); 4x400m mixed (Azlan Kuster, Atasya Faqeha Juakim, Aidil Asyraff Juakim, Steffy Stacy Lakim). The silver medals were delivered by Elvinsoon Tiono Tinus (javelin), women's 4x100m team (Neovatte Jospely, Steffy Stacy Lakim, Atasya Faqeha Juakim, Elsie Elissa Noraimin) and the men's 4x100m team (Aidil Asyraff Juakim, J. Walddren J. Oswald, Azlan Kuste, Daniel Allex), while the bronze medals came from Atasya Faqeha Juakim (400m), women's 4x400m (Neovatte Jospely, Elsie Elissa Noraimin, Leona Simon, Pyster Yvone Rony). Sabah was represented by 12 athletes led by coach Mario Ocado Pajarillo with Juiren Elip and Fakhrul Nazri as officials. Sabah Deaf Sports Association president Spencer Soo Kok Heng when contacted on Tuesday congratulated the contingent for the success in defending their title. He urged the athletes to build on the momentum and focus on the coming Sopma XXII Sarawak in October this year. He added that following their impressive achievement, Azlan Kuste, Ali Uwais, Elvinsoon Tiono, Steffy Stacy, Aidil Asyraff and Atasya Faqeha have been selected to represent the country at the 2nd SEA Deaf Games to be held in Indonesia later this year. Safee steps down as PFAM president
FORMER national striker Safee Sali has resigned as president of the Professional Footballers Association of Malaysia (PFAM). Safee said it was not an easy decision to make, but he believed the time had come for him to step aside for the younger generation to lead the association. 'I firmly believe that introducing fresh perspectives and innovative ideas is vital for the continued growth and development of football on a global scale. 'It has been an honour to serve in this capacity, and I am proud of what we have accomplished together during my tenure. Drake shares receipts of RM34.2mil in gambling losses
Drake took to social media Wednesday night to share the receipts of all the money he's lost from gambling on the crypto betting site Stake, which he's been a partner of for the last three years. Photo: TNS Money apparently ain't a thing for Drake as the hip-hop superstar revealed he lost more than US$8mil (RM34.2mil) in a single month, all thanks to sports betting. The rapper took to social media Wednesday night to share the receipts of all the money he's lost from gambling on the crypto betting site Stake, which he's been a partner of for the last three years. 'Gotta share the other side of gambling…' he wrote on his Instagram story alongside a screenshot of his losses. According to his post, Drake placed nearly US$125mil in bets over the past month, resulting in a loss of US$8.2mil. While he didn't specify which specific wagers led to his financial misfortune, the NBA and NHL playoffs have both been in full swing in the last four weeks. In another Instagram post, the 38-year-old revealed an US$800,000 bet on Game 6 of the NBA Finals on Thursday. With the Oklahoma City Thunder leading the series over the Indiana Pacers, Drake placed US$600,000 on an OKC win and another US$200,000 on them winning by a 6-10 point margin. The Pacers ended up winning handily, 108-91. Last month, the rapper bet US$1.25mil on the Toronto Maple Leafs to win Round 2, Game 7 of the NHL playoffs and advance to the Eastern Conference Final — only for his hometown hockey team to miss the mark to the Florida Panthers. According to Forbes, Drake has an estimated net worth of US$49mil, though that figure was last reported in 2020. Syed crowned champ of champs

Kota Kinabalu: Syed Muhammad Alhabshi was crowned champion of champions and took home a total of RM4,500 winning cash prize at the Mr Enrich Kinabalu 2025 'Body Smart & Physique' Competition held at the Dewan Sri Putatan last Saturday. He had earlier also won the physique open title and in second place was Mohd Asraf Hamza with Affan Affandy Sazali Lee in third spot. In the body smart first timer category, Abdul Rahman Lee captured the title followed by Andy Wilson Jonik and Anas Wafiza Zikipeli @ Zulkifli. The body smart (model) title went to Md Rizwan Md Yusof and in second place was Muhammad Wazizi Hamidon and Martin Madais in third. Brandon Wong Tze Chung won the men's junior physique title with Muhammad Aidil Adly Jaffri and Syamirul Nizam Samsuddin coming in second and third place respectively. In the men's physique category, the 170cm below title was won by Ibnu Qayyum Azman followed by Md Rizwan Md Yusof and Martin Madais, while the top three 170cm above winners were Edwin Chang, Norarman Jalani and Sadasivam A/L Nadarajan. Abdul Rahman Lee was also named the most promising athlete and Matiu Jungkim was awarded Mr Enrich special award for his contribution to the sport in the State, while another award went to Kelab Gym NX Fitness Putatan for being the biggest contingent. A total of 215 athletes throughout the country and Brunei took part in the competition jointly organised by Sabah State Bodybuilding Association (SSBA) and Enrich Bodybuilding Club. It was officiated by Malaysia Bodybuilding Federation vice president Johanness Stanesslaous, who is also advisor to SSBA. Meanwhile, Enrich Bodybuilding Club president Krishnakumar A/L Kalimuthu said they will organise the championship here annually and hoped more participants will take part next year.
