TMKOC's Dilip Joshi Reacts To His Viral Weight Loss Story: '1992 Mein Kiya Tha'
Actor Dilip Joshi, known popularly for his role in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah recently hit the headlines for his 16 kg weight loss in just 45 days. His story went viral on social media. Now, the actor has finally broken his silence over the buzz about the weight loss story. He clarified that the transformation actually happened back in 1992, and was amused that the story had suddenly gone viral now.
Dilip Joshi recently stepped out to attend an event in Mumbai when he was clicked by the paparazzi. A video shared by Instant Bollywood shows photographers asking him about the secret behind his remarkable weight loss. In response, he laughed, and clarified, 'Arey, 1992 mein kiya tha bhai, abhi pata nahi kissi ne social media pe chala diya yaar (Oh, it was in 1992, brother. I don't know who put it on social media now)."
The 57-year-old actor's story about losing 16 kg in 45 days went viral on social media last week. In a 2023 interview with Mashable India, he credited his remarkable transformation to a straightforward yet disciplined daily routine. He disclosed that his key to success was a 45-minute workout every day. Despite having a regular office job at the time, he incorporated daily running into his routine while returning home, demonstrating that simple, consistent habits can yield significant results.
Discussing his dedicated fitness regimen, Dilip mentioned he would change at the swimming club and run across Marine Drive to Oberoi, even in the rain. He jogged the entire distance, which took 45 minutes, leading to his impressive weight loss within such a short period. 'I used to go to work, change at the swimming club, and run across Marine Drive to Oberoi (the hotel) in the rain, and then go back. I would jog the whole way, and it used to take me 45 minutes. I lost 16 kgs in one and a half months," he said.
He said that he was preparing for his character as a scientist in the 1992 Gujarati film Hun Hunshi Hunshilal, which required him to lose some weight and achieve a toned physique.

Not Rupali Ganguly or Dilip Joshi, Smriti Irani is TV's highest-paid actor with Rs 14 lakh per episode for Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2
Smriti Irani is back to acting with the second season of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. The actress was reported to be charging a hefty payment of Rs 14 lakh per episode, becoming the highest-paid TV actor in India. Reacting to the reports, Smriti Irani herself has confirmed such remuneration. Smriti Irani confirms becoming highest paid actor on small screen In a latest chat with CNN News18, Smriti Irani admitted that she is getting the record-breaking-paycheck while highlighting how she earned it with a lot of hard work and delivering on TRP numbers. The actress said, 'You also set that benchmark as a professional to say that if you deliver on history on numbers and revenue, why not? Because not everybody who's watching us knows we get to negotiate our contracts as employees.' Smriti Irani proudly said that not only pay-parity, she has beaten the boys and girls. 'I'm a part of a union, so the first thing I do is actually have my union number registered. We all are part of a larger organisation and flow of work. For one person to stand up and say "listen, not only pay parity, I beat the boys and the girls and how much I make that is a lot of hard work," she added. Smriti Irani, who is playing the lead role of Tulsi Virani in Kyonki, further underlined that she is capable of making stars out of others who are working with her. She said, 'The idea is, are you truly the star or do you have the professional capacity to make stars around you? I think that I have actually, mercifully, had the capacity of making stars out of others who are with me. If there is a Tulsi, then Amar Upadhyay quintessentially creates his own market. So do you become that pivot, that sounding board, that other actors then can enhance their economic value? That I have managed to do through the project, so my co-stars today can say, 'Oh, we are a part of that.'' Smriti Irani beats contemporaries Rupaly Ganguly, Dilip Joshi and Hina Khan For the unversed, Smriti Irani has surpassed Rupali Ganguly, Dilip Joshi, and Hina Khan's remunerations to emerge as the highest paid actor on the small screen. While Ganguly charges around Rs 3 lakh per episode for Anupama, Dilip Joshi and Hina Khan charge around Rs 1.5-2 lakh per episode. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.

Avatar Director James Cameron Issues Dire Warning About AI And 'Terminator-Style Apocalypse'
James Cameron has warned of a 'Terminator-style apocalypse' from AI, fearing extinction if AI accesses weapons. The filmmaker is currently making Avatar 3. James Cameron has warned that the world is on the brink of a 'Terminator-style apocalypse". The moviemaker has revealed his fears over the rise of AI in recent years and admitted it's possible for humankind to be left facing extinction if an artificial intelligence network is allowed access to weapons systems, as predicted in his 1984 sci-fi movie The Terminator starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. He told Rolling Stone magazine: 'I do think there's still a danger of a Terminator-style apocalypse where you put AI together with weapons systems, even up to the level of nuclear weapon systems, nuclear defence counterstrike, all that stuff. Because the theatre of operations is so rapid, the decision windows are so fast, it would take a super-intelligence to be able to process it, and maybe we'll be smart and keep a human in the loop." 'But humans are fallible, and there have been a lot of mistakes made that have put us right on the brink of international incidents that could have led to nuclear war. So I don't know," he continued. Cameron went on to add, 'I feel like we're at this cusp in human development where you've got the three existential threats: climate and our overall degradation of the natural world, nuclear weapons, and super-intelligence. They're all sort of manifesting and peaking at the same time." Cameron recently signed an open letter calling for nuclear disarmament and his next film project is Ghosts of Hiroshima, based on the Charles Pellegrino book of the same name which tells the story of the atomic bomb blast in 1945 and its aftermath. The director recently admitted the movie might be the most 'challenging film" he's will lever make. Speaking to Discussing Film, Cameron explained, 'This might be the most challenging film I ever make. I don't 100 per cent have my strategy fully in place [right now] for how I want to see it, for how I want to shield people from the horror, but still be honest. Also, for how I can find some kind of poetry, beauty, or spiritual epiphany in it somehow, which I know must be there. It's there in every human story. So, it's going to be very challenging. I might not even be up to the task, but that never stopped me before." First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive.
