Sydney Sweeney Reveals Her Dreams of Country Music Stardom in ‘Americana' Teaser

Sydney Sweeney is a diner waitress with big dreams in Billboard's exclusive clip from the crime comedy Americana. The movie takes place in South Dakota and chronicles a rogues gallery of folks vigorously pursuing a rare Native American artifact, including colorfully named characters 'Lefty' Ledbetter (Paul Walter Hauser), Mandy Starr (Halsey), Dillon MacIntosh (Eric Dane), Ghost Eye (Zahn McClarnon) and Roy Lee Dean (Simon Rex). In an exclusive peek of the film due out on Friday (Aug. 15), Sweeney and Hauser's characters bond over their dreams of what they will do with the money if they can obtain the elusive artifact. 'That's what the man said,' replies Hauser's seemingly shy rancher as Penny Jo places her pistol on the counter and says, 'Guess, that's that.' With Lefty appearing on edge by the sight of the weapon, Penny Jo tries to reassure him by noting, 'They aren't just gonna give us the artifact, ya know? What are you gonna do with the money when we get it?' Lefty responds that he doesn't really need it and offers to give it to her. After he butters her up by saying he has all he needs — good food, good beer, good company — Penny Jo speculates that they have all those things in Nashville, where she plans to go after the big score to try her hand at music. 'Once we get the artifact, I'm gonna sell it for the big bucks and go there to sing professionally,' she says. 'I didn't know you were a singer,' Hauser responds. 'Nobody does … I'm a hidden gem,' Penny Jo smiles, confirming that she will sing the only kind of music there is — country music. According to a description, the modern-day Western follows the trail of a rare relic that makes its way to the black market, overturning the lives of a small-town woman and her son as they get 'violently intertwined with a quirky local diner waitress, an offbeat military veteran and a corrupt antiquities dealer. Crime and chaos follow when an indigenous group leader and his crew join the fray in order to reclaim the artifact and return it to its rightful place.' Filmed in 2022, the movie written and directed by Tony Tost (Damnation, Poker Face) and is White Lotus and Euphoria star Sweeney's latest big screen effort, following on the heels of 2023's Anyone But You, 2024's Madame Web and Immaculate and June's Echo Valley with Julianne Moore and Domhnall Gleeson. She is next slated to appear in the boxing drama Christy, based on the life of real professional pugilist Christy Martin. Watch Billboard's exclusive look at Americana above. Every Celebrity Who's Walked Out With Morgan Wallen on His I'm the Problem Tour So Far (Updating)

While fans flock to Morgan Wallen's headlining stadium shows for chart-topping hits like 'Love Somebody' and 'Last Night,' they're equally drawn to his charismatic stage presence and the dynamic production elements that transform the concert experience into a full-scale spectacle. More from Billboard Morgan Wallen Joined by 'Cowboy' Kid Rock for Walk-Out at Cleveland Stadium Show Liam Gallagher Says He's Banned From Throwing Tambourine and Maracas Into Crowds at Oasis Gigs Charli XCX Bids Farewell to 'Brat' Era at South Korean Show, Teases 'The Moment' Film Oh, and there's another reason too: to see which celebs will walk out with Wallen to the stage. The 19-time Billboard Music Awards winner has evolved his concert walkouts from simple solo affairs livestreamed on each stadium's Jumbotron into highly orchestrated moments featuring a rotating roster of celebrity guests, ranging from acclaimed musical collaborators spanning various genres to Super Bowl–winning athletes. The walkouts capture Wallen getting just as hyped as his fans before each concert — whether he's high-fiving friends, laughing, stretching or hugging family members. But the addition of celebrity guests has made these nightly moments become one of the most highly anticipated elements of his shows. Wallen's previous headlining tour, the global-spanning One Night at a Time Tour, featured some top-shelf celebrity walkouts, including rapper Moneybagg Yo (Wallen's collaborator on 'Whiskey Whiskey'); Country Music Hall of Fame duo Brooks & Dunn; wrestler Hulk Hogan; boxing champion Mike Tyson; podcaster Theo Von; the Kansas City Chiefs' 2024 Super Bowl leaders Chris Jones, Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes; and Peyton Manning and the Tennessee Vols (for a hometown show at Knoxville's Neyland Stadium). The celeb walkout trend seems to be continuing on his I'm the Problem Tour, which launched with two nights at NRG Stadium in Houston in June. The tour will conclude with two shows Sept. 12-13 in Edmonton, Alberta. Brooks & Dunn, Miranda Lambert, Thomas Rhett, Koe Wetzel, Gavin Adcock, Corey Kent, Ella Langley and Anne Wilson open various shows on the tour. Morgan Wallen Joined by ‘Cowboy' Kid Rock for Walk-Out at Cleveland Stadium Show

Morgan Wallen brought out another surprise guest for the walk-out moment at the opening night of his I'm the Problem tour stop in Cleveland. The 32-year-old country star made a dramatic entrance during the first of two sold-out shows at Huntington Bank Stadium on Friday (Aug. 15), flanked by Kid Rock, 54, who wore a statement-making fur coat with the word 'Cowboy' emblazoned across the back. In the video, the two artists greet each other backstage as Rock shows off his signature style — a wide-brimmed hat, black sunglasses, white tank top and blue jeans — before heading toward the stage together. The clip ends with Wallen embracing Rock and greeting the roaring Cleveland crowd. 'Cowboy, baby,' Wallen captioned the post. Wallen's walk-out moments have become a signature feature of his live shows, often featuring surprise celebrity guests like Drake, Travis Kelce, Troy Aikman, David Spade, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. Earlier this year, Rock spoke about his connection to Wallen during an episode of Bill Maher's Club Random podcast. When asked about the song 'Still Somethin',' from his 2022 album Bad Reputation, Rock revealed that Wallen had co-written the track alongside Mitchell Tenpenny, Andy Albert and Jordan Schmidt. 'This is before Morgan Wallen blew up. I remember somehow I got a demo of it, I can't remember what, and I just couldn't get over the voice on it,' Rock said. 'I was like, 'Who the f—k is singing this demo?' It was Morgan Wallen.' Since then, the two artists have struck up a friendship. During Wallen's Houston show in June, he was spotted wearing a Kid Rock T-shirt while walking out alongside Drake and baseball legend Roger Clemens. Wallen's latest album, I'm the Problem, has been on a hot streak, recently scoring its 10th nonconsecutive week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Watch Wallen's walk-out with Kid Rock on Instagram here.
