Maruti Suzuki launches training to handle high voltage systems for electric vehicles
New Delhi [India], May 27 (ANI): Maruti Suzuki India Limited has launched a training capsule to handle high voltage systems required for electric and hybrid vehicles.
This customised training program will be accessible across 130 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in 24 States and 4 Union Territories in India. 'The first batch of over 4,100 trained students will be ready to join the automobile industry from September 2025 onwards,' the release said.
The aim of this program is to fulfil government of India's carbon net zero objective, and the training will serve as one of the important key factors in faster adoption of EVs in the country.
The release further added 'This training program prepares future automotive technicians to safely and efficiently handle high-voltage electric systems, addressing industry needs as the number of such vehicles increases in the overall car.'
'We want to maximize adoption of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) in the country. When we researched the reasons for low adoption of EVs, one of the major hurdles in the minds of the customers was confidence in after-sales support,' said Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs, Maruti Suzuki India Limited.
Incidentally, this is an area of strength for Maruti Suzuki. While 90 per cent 1 of EV sales happen in 100 cities, we will go 10x and cover 1,000 cities with more than 1,500 workshops equipped to provide service support to BEVs.
At the end of the course, these trained technicians are free to join Maruti Suzuki service network or any other OEM. Hence, this upskilling of students is strategic to BEV adoption in India. The high voltage training will be useful for Strong Hybrid cars also, and so there is a synergy between both technologies.'
This high voltage training program is introduced for second-year ITI students and covers topics like the fundamentals of EVs and HEVs, safety procedures for handling high voltage systems, usage of special tools and equipment, and best practices for system maintenance.
In addition, Maruti Suzuki also conducts specialized skill enhancement for the faculty of the ITIs with train-the-trainer programs and provides training equipment and tools to conduct a pioneering 1 as per MSIL's evaluation information Classification: Public training program. These efforts will go a long way in instilling confidence among customers for adoption of newer technologies. (ANI)

Maruti Suzuki sold 135,962 units domestically in May 2025 as opposed to 144,002 units it sold in May 2024. He expressed that the Indian passenger vehicle market will continue to witness muted growth unless the small car segment sees growth. Tax reduction to revive the segment In order to regain momentum in the small car space, Bhargava proposed the introduction of tax structures tailored specifically for smaller cars—lower taxes compared to other segments. Drawing a parallel with Japan's Kei cars, which benefit from lower taxes and regulations, he suggested India should adopt a similar approach. By making small cars more affordable and accessible, India could see a shift from motorcycles to four-wheelers, helping to accommodate the 30 crore two-wheeler owners in the country, the chairman emphasised. Maruti Suzuki records 3.2% growth in May 2025, driven by strong export performance
Maruti Suzuki India Limited announced a total sale of 180,077 units in May 2025, marking a 3.2% increase compared to 174,551 units in May 2024. The growth was propelled by a significant surge in exports, which rose 79.8% to 31,219 units from 17,367 units last sales, however, saw a marginal decline, with 138,690 units sold compared to 146,694 units in May 2024. Passenger vehicle sales totalled 135,962 units, down from 144,002 units, while light commercial vehicle sales (Super Carry) slightly increased to 2,728 units from 2,692 units. Sales to other OEMs also dipped to 10,168 units from 10,490 utility vehicle segment, including models like Brezza, Ertiga, and Grand Vitara, remained a strong performer, recording 54,899 units sold, a 1.3% rise from 54,204 units in May 2024. Vans, led by the Eeco, grew by 12.5% to 12,327 units. In contrast, passenger car sales, particularly in the mini and compact segments (Alto, S-Presso, Baleno, Swift, etc.), fell to 68,736 units from 78,838 units, with the mid-size Ciaz sedan dropping significantly to 458 units from 730 units. Maruti Suzuki's May sales up 3% to 180,077 units
Maruti Suzuki India Limited reported total sales of 180,077 units in May 2025, marking a 3% increase from the 174,551 units sold in the same month last year. The total includes domestic sales, exports, and deliveries to other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Domestic and export sales breakdown In the domestic market, Maruti Suzuki sold 138,690 units, which includes 135,962 passenger vehicles and 2,728 light commercial vehicles (LCVs). This figure is lower than the 146,694 units sold in May 2024. Sales to other OEMs stood at 10,168 units, while exports rose to 31,219 units from 17,367 units a year earlier. Segment-wise performance The compact segment, comprising models such as the Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, and WagonR, recorded sales of 61,502 units. Mini cars including the Alto and S-Presso accounted for 6,776 units. Utility vehicles, which include models like the Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, and Grand Vitara, registered sales of 54,899 units. The Eeco van contributed 12,327 units. Total sales for the financial year to date (April-May 2025) reached 359,868 units, up from 342,640 units during the same period last year.>
