Maruti Suzuki and JETRO collaborate to facilitate business opportunities for startups from India and Japan
Maruti Suzuki India Limited ('Maruti Suzuki') has signed a Memorandum of Understanding ('MoU') with the Japan External Trade Organization ('JETRO'), to promote innovation and facilitate business opportunities for startups from India and Japan. The MoU was formally exchanged between Dr. Tapan Sahoo, Executive Officer, Digital Enterprise, Maruti Suzuki and Mr. Takashi Suzuki, Chief Director General, JETRO India in the presence of Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki. Under the MoU, Maruti Suzuki and JETRO will collaborate to support startups based in India to access the startup and innovation ecosystem of Japan, similarly, startups based in Japan will get an opportunity to access the startup and innovation ecosystem of India. In addition, Maruti Suzuki and JETRO will work with each other to facilitate the participation and networking of startups in appropriate activities or events, connecting them with relevant partners. Startups chosen through Maruti Suzuki's four innovation programs:1) Accelerator, 2) Incubation, 3) Mobility Challenge and 4) Nurture, will be eligible to participate in these events. Startups from Japan can explore the Indian startup ecosystem by participating through JETRO. Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, 'Startups are key drivers of innovation and economic growth. Through our multi-format innovation programs, we have been engaging with startups in India to co-create technology-driven solutions relevant to the automobile manufacturing and mobility space. We see great potential in Indian startups, and with this MoU with JETRO, we will be able to provide a platform for these promising startups to explore the Japanese business landscape.' Chandigarh woman sues Maruti Suzuki, dealership for failing to transfer old car ownership; seeks vehicle's court custody
A woman has filed a civil suit against Maruti Suzuki and one of its dealerships in Chandigarh for refusing to transfer the ownership of her old car and allowing a third person to have control of and run the vehicle without getting it noted in the name of the new owner. The suit has been filed by Kulpreet Kaur against Maruti Suzuki India Limited and Autopace Network Private Limited (car dealership). Meanwhile, the Registration and Licensing Authority (RLA), Chandigarh and the principal secretary (Transport), Himachal Pradesh, have also been made respondents in the case. Through her counsel, Advocate Ajay Pal Singh, Kaur said she purchased a brand-new car from Autopace Network — a Maruti Suzuki Fronx — and before the purchase, Maruti Suzuki and the dealership, promised her that she would be compensated suitably in case she chose to return her earlier car, Hyundai i10, while buying the new vehicle from the showroom. Kaur said they said a handsome amount would be paid to her in the form of 'suitable adjustments' in the total value of the new car she was buying, in case she handed over the keys of her old vehicle. Kaur said she handed the keys of her old car to the dealership, for which the company and dealership gave a decent incentive to the purchaser by adjusting the value of the used car from the total value of the car that she was purchasing. She said she bought the car in September 2023. However, Kaur's counsel, Singh, argued Kaur is running from pillar to post to find out if, as promised, her old car had been transferred in the name of the new purchaser. However, she found out that the used car has not so far been transferred, and is lying at an undisclosed place, but in her name on paper. On following up with the company and dealership, she was informed her car was handed over to a local car dealer — Jainendra Bhalla of Sector 47, Chandigarh — and he further sold the vehicle to some unknown person. Kaur said that despite her repeated requests, Bhalla has not given any assurance that he will get the vehicle transferred in

Maruti Suzuki launches training to handle high voltage systems for electric vehicles
New Delhi [India], May 27 (ANI): Maruti Suzuki India Limited has launched a training capsule to handle high voltage systems required for electric and hybrid vehicles. This customised training program will be accessible across 130 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in 24 States and 4 Union Territories in India. 'The first batch of over 4,100 trained students will be ready to join the automobile industry from September 2025 onwards,' the release said. The aim of this program is to fulfil government of India's carbon net zero objective, and the training will serve as one of the important key factors in faster adoption of EVs in the country. The release further added 'This training program prepares future automotive technicians to safely and efficiently handle high-voltage electric systems, addressing industry needs as the number of such vehicles increases in the overall car.' 'We want to maximize adoption of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) in the country. When we researched the reasons for low adoption of EVs, one of the major hurdles in the minds of the customers was confidence in after-sales support,' said Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs, Maruti Suzuki India Limited. Incidentally, this is an area of strength for Maruti Suzuki. While 90 per cent 1 of EV sales happen in 100 cities, we will go 10x and cover 1,000 cities with more than 1,500 workshops equipped to provide service support to BEVs. At the end of the course, these trained technicians are free to join Maruti Suzuki service network or any other OEM. Hence, this upskilling of students is strategic to BEV adoption in India. The high voltage training will be useful for Strong Hybrid cars also, and so there is a synergy between both technologies.' This high voltage training program is introduced for second-year ITI students and covers topics like the fundamentals of EVs and HEVs, safety procedures for handling high voltage systems, usage of special tools and equipment, and best practices for system maintenance. In addition, Maruti Suzuki also conducts specialized skill enhancement for the faculty of the ITIs with train-the-trainer programs and provides training equipment and tools to conduct a pioneering 1 as per MSIL's evaluation information Classification: Public training program. To accelerate electric vehicle adoption, Maruti Suzuki brings High Voltage training at 130 Industrial Training Institutes
Maruti Suzuki India Limited has launched a comprehensive training capsule to handle High Voltage systems required for electric (EVs) and hybrid vehicles (HEVs). The customised training program has been introduced across 130 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in 24 States and 4 Union Territories in India. Supporting the Government of India's carbon net zero objective, the training will serve as one of the critical key enablers in faster adoption of EVs in the country. This training program prepares future automotive technicians to safely and efficiently handle high-voltage electric systems, addressing industry needs as the number of such vehicles increases in the overall car parc. As part of Company's Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, Maruti Suzuki aims to develop skilled workforce for the overall automobile industry. The Company has invested approximately INR 3.9 crore towards this initiative. Announcing this initiative, Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs, Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, 'We want to maximize adoption of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) in the country. Maruti Suzuki automated driving test tracks inaugurated by Uttarakhand CM
In a major step towards enhancing road safety and ensuring skilled driving across Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated automated driving test tracks (ADTTs) in Haridwar and Rishikesh. These facilities have been developed by Maruti Suzuki India Limited under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) newly launched ADTTs are equipped with high-definition cameras and fully integrated IT systems, enabling a 100% computerised and transparent evaluation process for driving license seekers. Designed to eliminate human intervention, the tests are conducted in strict adherence to the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR), ensuring a fair and efficient assessment of driving new ADTTs will cater to testing for Light Motor Vehicles (LMV) and two-wheelers. With this, Uttarakhand now has three automated tracks in total, including one in Dehradun, operational since 2019. The Dehradun ADTT had previously won recognition from the Chief Minister for excellence and good governance in 2019–2020. Speaking on the occasion, Brijesh Kumar Sant (IAS), Secretary, Transport Department, Government of Uttarakhand, said, 'We are committed to making the roads of Uttarakhand safer, and Maruti Suzuki's ADTTs are a key enabler. Our collaboration with Maruti Suzuki dates back to 2009 with the establishment of the Institute of Driving and Traffic Research (IDTR) in Dehradun. Through these automated test tracks, we can ensure that only truly competent drivers are granted licenses.'The Secretary also highlighted the state's partnership with Maruti Suzuki in conducting refresher training for commercial drivers ahead of the annual Char Dham Yatra—a mandatory program that helps drivers navigate challenging hill routes and qualify for the Green Card necessary for yatra Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, thanked the Uttarakhand Government for its continued support. 'Under the visionary leadership of CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, Uttarakhand is rapidly developing. Skilled drivers are critical to boosting tourism and ensuring road safety. Our ADTTs will help achieve these goals by ensuring that licenses are issued only to capable and well-prepared drivers,' he added that the company plans to train approximately 11,000 commercial drivers in refresher courses this year through its IDTR to the strict evaluation criteria of the automated systems, an initial dip in pass rates is often observed. For instance, the pass percentage at the Dehradun ADTT dropped to 60% in FY 2019–20 but has since improved to 69%, indicating that applicants are becoming better prepared over to Auto Today Magazine
