Shehnaz Treasury Was Called 'Too Fat', Body-Shamed On Ishq Vishk Set: 'I Was On Some Crazy Diet'
Shehnaz Treasury recalled facing body-shaming while shooting for the 2003 film Ishq Vishk, starring Shahid Kapoor. She shared that she was kept on a crazy diet to look thin.
Shehnaz Treasury debuted in Bollywood with the 2003 film Ishq Vishk, co-starring Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao. She recently shared how the director of Ishq Vishk criticized her body and enforced a strict diet to make her appear thinner for the film. The actress-turned-influencer opened up about facing body shaming on the film set, recalling that she was told she was 'too fat', and needed to diet.
In a conversation with ETimes, Shehnaz recounted the stress of portraying Alisha in Ishq Vishk, the prettiest girl in college. 'In college, there was all that pressure too — you know, like Neeli neeli aankhon wali kaun hai wo — and then the director was like, 'You've got to wear green lenses, you have to be perfect, you have to look great. Oh, you don't look good in some angles; actresses are supposed to look good in all angles,' as if it was my fault," she said.
She mentioned being told she was too fat, and needed to diet. She reflected on the absurdity and sadness of the situation, expressing disbelief over the pressures she endured. 'I was told, 'Oh, you're too fat, your belly is sticking out, you need to diet.' The other girl in the movie was so thin — they were padding her, putting pads on her — while they were trying to shrink me. So I was on some crazy diet. They wouldn't let me eat. It was so ridiculous. And it was so sad. Looking back, I can't believe we had to go through those things. In fact, the world we live in today is much nicer to actors and more accepting of all shapes and sizes," she concluded.
About Ishq Vishk
Ken Ghosh directed the teen romance film Ishq Vishk, which marked the Bollywood debut of Shahid Kapoor. The film follows childhood friends Rajiv Mathur (Shahid Kapoor) and Payal Mehra (Amrita Rao). As they grow up together, Payal falls in love with Rajiv, but he remains oblivious to her feelings. Shehnaz portrayed the role of Alisha Sahay. The movie became a sleeper hit and catapulted Shahid to fame.
About Shehnaz Treasury
Shehnaz initially gained fame as an MTV VJ before moving to acting with Ishq Vishk. She later appeared in films like Hum Tum, Luv Ka The End, Umar, Delhi Belly, and Main Aur Mr. Riight. Her latest role was in the 2021 American comedy film Americanish. Although she has stepped back from the big screen, she engages her 1.4 million Instagram followers with travel, lifestyle, and health content.

Kritika Kamra Reacts To Her Limited Role In Saare Jahan Se Accha: 'Female Characters Tend To…'
Last Updated: Kritika Kamra reveals many of her scenes were cut in Netflix's Saare Jahan Se Accha. She told News18 Showsha that she finds it hard to watch herself on the screen. Kritika Kamra played a pivotal role in the recently released Netflix series, Saare Jahan Se Accha. However, not a lot of her scenes made it to the final cut. In an exclusive conversation with News18 Showsha, Kritika spoke about the same. She also opened up about the challenges of watching herself on screen and how she prepared for her intense character. Speaking about self-criticism, Kritika Kamra admitted she finds it 'very difficult" to watch her own performances. 'I can't. Most actors I know have this issue. I only do it when I'm forced to, at screenings. It's hard to be objective. When I watch, I'm constantly judging myself and I go into a loop of 'I could have done this better.' That's why I rely on the director's vision and the audience's feedback instead," she told us. Kritika, who essays the role of journalist Fatima in Saare Jahan Se Accha, revealed that some of her scenes did not make it to the final cut. 'I wish there was more of me. I did shoot a lot more, but unfortunately, it didn't make the final edit. I was also a bit surprised to see that stuff that I shot for has not really made it, but happens sometimes. You, as an actor, don't really have control over the final edit. Often, the pace of a show takes precedence, and female characters tend to bear the brunt of it. Layers and complexities sometimes get compromised in the interest of speed," Kritika noted. Kritika Kamra on how she prepares for her roles On preparing for her character, Kritika says she drew inspiration from real-life journalists and public figures. 'Fatima is an intellectual elite, an editor who probably studied abroad. I wanted her to sound different from the other characters—her Urdu is touch-and-go, and she uses a lot more English. It helped me bring subtlety to the role," she explained. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Netflix India (@netflix_in) Kritika Kamra on sensitively portraying India-Pakistan backdrop Given the show's sensitive India-Pakistan backdrop, Kritika admitted she was initially cautious. 'When I met the makers for the first time, that's when I was quite careful about this. And instantly I realised that the makers were all on the same page and everybody understood how sensitive this is and they wanted to approach it with that sensitivity and sensibility and have a very balanced human view on people from both sides of the border." 'That's what drew me in. As someone interested in politics and history, the project felt both meaningful and ambitious," she said. Saare Jahan Se Accha has been streaming on Netflix from August 13, 2025. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive. Aishwarya Rai Rejects Social Media Validation In Powerful Video: 'As A Mother, It's A Grave Concern'
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, in her latest L'Oréal Paris Lessons of Worth video, says social media should not define self-worth. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is once again lending her voice to a message of empowerment. In the latest video for L'Oréal Paris' Lessons of Worth series, the global icon reflects on the brand's timeless tagline—'Because you're worth it"—reframing it for today's digital age. In the campaign film, Aishwarya speaks candidly about how social media has become a yardstick for self-worth, with people measuring their value through likes, comments, and posts. Challenging this culture of external validation, she asserts, 'I'm worth it, but what really decides that? The kind of pictures posted? The number of likes? Or is it the comments on social media? We have given such power to these things. The power to own our worth." Raising Concerns as a Woman and Mother The actor goes a step further, warning about the deeper implications of this trend. As a mother, she says she views the issue as 'a matter of grave concern", adding, 'There's not much difference between social media and social pressure. As a woman and a mother, it's a matter of grave concern to think about the power it can have over young minds. Frankly, even impressionable adults." She continues with a plea for introspection: 'This cannot go on. We must make a choice. Let's not go searching for our self-worth elsewhere, certainly not on social media. Worth is innate." Her call to action is simple yet resonant—stop outsourcing self-worth and believe in one's own inherent value. The video has already struck a chord with fans online. One admirer wrote, 'I wish half of the world understands what she is saying." Another called her message 'perfect," while several others praised her for both her wisdom and beauty. Many fans flooded the comments section with crown emojis, hailing her as 'queen." Aishwarya was last seen in Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan: I and II. Though she has not yet announced her next project, the actor remains in the headlines—whether for her professional choices, her appearances with husband Abhishek Bachchan and daughter Aaradhya, or her ongoing association with global campaigns like this one. With Lessons of Worth, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan reiterates that true validation comes from within, leaving fans not only applauding her grace but also reconsidering their own relationship with social media.
