Prince Albert Outreach founder Peggy Rubin is being honoured for her dedication to helping youth during her nearly 20-year career with Outreach.
Prince Albert Outreach will now be operating a group home named in her honour.
'It's such an honour,' said Rubin. 'I've been gone for almost ten years, and you kind of think you're forgotten. No one remembers who you are, so it's a real honour to do this. It's exciting to see more happening for the youth in Prince Albert; this continues to be more and more for the kids.'
Peggy's Compass Home will provide short-term residential care and mental health and addictions supports for five youth ages 12-18.
The home will take a youth-centered approach where youth will work with staff on their goals and case plans.
'Maybe we can start with a small house for five kids,' said Rubin about her hopes for the project.

'Well, maybe we can open another one, and I think that's what you really need. This community gets bigger, and Saskatchewan gets bigger, that you really need more and more services for kids because they are our future.'
Prince Albert Outreach executive director Bill Chow says the next step will be getting youth and staff into the home so they can build a routine.
'It's very exciting,' said Chow. 'It's been exciting this whole time. The staff are really excited about being able to host some youth and help them on their positive path to hopefully becoming better.'
The province says it will provide $800,000 in annual operating funding for Peggy's Compass.
The province funded the development of two other homes for youth in need of additional supports, one in Regina and one in Saskatoon to a total $2.4 million.

As Thursday marks the end of the school year for elementary school students at Russell Reid Public School in Brantford, they won't be able to attend classes for a final goodbye. Friday would also keep students home for professional development day, more commonly known as a PD Day. The school board said staff had been relocated to a different location in the meantime. The school board's decision to keep Russell Reid Public School closed came after a fire involving a small box fan ignited in one of the school's classrooms Tuesday at around 10:30 p.m. They said poor air quality caused by the fire led to the closure.
