Netflix Lands Hot Action Comedy Package Teaming Andy Samberg & Jason Momoa

EXCLUSIVE: Here's a pairing you might not have seen coming. In a highly competitive situation, involving offers from both studios and streamers, Netflix has landed the pitch for a two-hander action comedy to star A Minecraft Movie's Jason Momoa and SNL alum Andy Samberg. More from Deadline Amazon MGM Studios In Talks To Acquire Hot Video Game Package 'Split Fiction' Teaming Jon M. Chu & Sydney Sweeney Emily Ziff Griffin Tapped To Adapt Her Short Story 'Morning Person' For Amazon MGM Studios Netflix Takes A Bulk Of The World On Shih-Ching Tsou's Cannes Movie 'Left-Handed Girl' We hear the currently untitled film is set in Momoa's native Hawaii, though further details as to the plot are under wraps. Samberg's Party Over Here and Momoa's On The Roam will produce. The script will be written by a pair of highly decorated SNL alums: 11x Emmy nominee Rob Klein and eight-time nominee John Solomon. No word yet on who will direct. Momoa is riding high on the success of A Minecraft Movie, the Warner Bros/Legendary film which secured the biggest opening ever for a video game adaptation, breathing life into the global box office with a worldwide gross exceeding $948 million. Highly in demand as ever, his upcoming slate includes Amazon's action comedy The Wrecking Crew, where he stars opposite Dave Bautista, as well as Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, where he fulfills his longtime ambition to play intergalactic alien Lobo. On August 1, he unveils Chief of War, the Apple historical epic he co-created with Thomas Pa'a Sibbett, in which he also stars. Then, there's Animal Friends, a live-action/animated road trip action comedy, where he stars alongside Ryan Reynolds, Aubrey Plaza, and Vince Vaughn. We were first to report on the Warner Bros/Legendary title, which opens October 10. Next up, Momoa will reprise his role as Duncan Idaho in Dune 3, which rolls cameras in July. An Emmy and Golden Globe winner, Samberg will next be seen starring alongside Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch in Jay Roach's The Roses, a remake of the classic 1989 dark comedy The War of the Roses that Searchlight releases August 29. This past fall, he returned to Studio 8H for SNL's 50th season, portraying Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff opposite Maya Rudolph's Kamala Harris. He also starred in three new The Lonely Island digital shorts, and performed alongside Lady Gaga, Bad Bunny and Eddie Vedder in a musical medley for SNL50: The Homecoming Concert. He starred opposite Kate Winslet in the recent war correspondent drama Lee and launched a new podcast with Seth Meyers, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, The Lonely Island & Seth Meyers Podcast, last spring. Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie's daughter Shiloh changes name amid feud with father

Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie's daughter Shiloh changes name amid feud with father Show Caption Hide Caption Shiloh Jolie granted request to drop dad Brad Pitt's last name Shiloh Jolie, the daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has officially dropped Pitt from her last name. unbranded - Entertainment Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's second-eldest daughter Shiloh Jolie is debuting a new name. The A-listers' famous daughter debuted her name change during a rare appearance in Los Angeles for the launch of French fashion designer Isabel Marant's capsule collection for women with luxury company Net-A-Porter, according to a press release obtained by Page Six, L'Officiel and Variety. At the fête, she received choreography credits for an original dance number. Her new name? Shi Joli. Last year, Jolie, formerly known as Jolie-Pitt, was successful in legally removing Pitt from her last name. The 18-year-old's name change petition was originally granted in August by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge, according to a filing reviewed at the time by USA TODAY. Shiloh Jolie granted request to drop dad Brad Pitt's last name "There being no objections, the petition for change of name is granted," the order read. "The Decree is signed and filed. The Petitioner's name is changed from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie." Nearly a year ago, Jolie filed the petition to use only her mother's maiden name on May 27, her 18th birthday, according to a court filing obtained by USA TODAY. As legally required in California, Jolie posted weekly public notices of her effort to change her name to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie in a newspaper prior to her scheduled hearing. Pitt, 61, and Jolie, 49, share six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh and twins Vivienne and Knox. In recent weeks, Pitt spoke out about his divorce from his former "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" costar. On May 28, GQ published a feature story on Pitt's latest film, "F1," and asked him about his December divorce settlement with Jolie following their eight-year battle in court. Pitt had a surprisingly toned-down response to the question about whether the finalized matter brought any "relief." "No, I don't think it was that major of a thing," Pitt told the magazine. "Just something coming to fruition. Legally." Contributing: KiMi Robinson

'Incredibly entertaining' Michael B. Jordan movie now available to watch at home — it's my favorite movie of the year so far

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. I hope most of you took advantage of seeing Sinners on the big screen — and in IMAX and/or 70mm if possible — as that experience is truly what helped make the Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler movie the best movie of the year so far in my book. But if you haven't been able to see the movie in theaters, well, things have gotten a bit easier for you, as you can now watch Sinners at home via digital on-demand platforms. As of Tuesday, June 3, you can buy or rent Sinners through Prime Video and other digital on-demand platforms. Sinners is still playing in movie theaters if you want to try and catch it on the big screen, but admittedly, watching Sinners at home makes it easier to catch up with the movie. Sinners takes place in the Mississippi Delta of the 1930s, where twin brothers Smoke and Stack (both played by Jordan) return home looking to start their own club. However, on opening night, they have some unannounced visitors who bring unparalleled chaos to the proceedings. In addition to Jordan, Sinners stars Hailee Steinfeld, Jack O'Connell, Miles Caton, Wunmi Mosaku, Delroy Lindo, Li Jun Li, Omar Benson Miller and Jayme Lawson. In my Sinners review, I called the movie 'the first truly great movie of 2025,' and a month and a half later, it is still the best movie I've seen this year. While the movie theater experience was definitely special, the performances, the storytelling and the craftsmanship of Sinners will have the movie play well on whatever size screen (though I'd still recommend watching it on the biggest TV you have). I'm not alone in my praise, as Sinners is 'Certified Fresh' on Rotten Tomatoes with a critics' score of 97% and 'Verified Hot' on the platform with an audience score of 96%. It's also pulled in the dough, with it ranking as the third highest-grossing movie at the US box office as of publication and top 10 worldwide. In summation, Sinners has become something of a phenomenon for moviegoers. So anyone who likes to be caught up with the latest movies and hasn't seen Sinners yet — or if you want to watch the movie again — well, now you have multiple options to do so. To be clear though, Sinners is not available as part of a major streaming service at this time, you have to buy the movie or pay a rental fee to watch it at home. We're still waiting on an official streaming release date for Sinners, but as a Warner Bros. movie, we all but know where it is going to be available to stream first — on Max (or perhaps it will be HBO Max again by the time Sinners arrives on the platform). If you need any final convincing, here is the Sinners trailer to give a quick preview:
