Bills for works done during BRS rule put on backburner: Bhatti
Citing a paucity of funds, the minister said the government has decided to prioritise works taken up with the assurance of Central Government and NABARD funding only.
A Cabinet Sub-Committee on Infrastructure and capital works, headed by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, reviewed the work progress and noted that the previous BRS government gave permissions for works arbitrarily and without proper budget allocations. The Deputy CM explained that traditionally, works are approved in a ratio of 1:3 based on revenue and budget allocations. However, he claimed that in the last ten years, the previous rulers approved development works in certain departments at a ratio of 1:25, initiated them, and left them incomplete. As a result, projects were stalled everywhere, and new ministers are unable to propose new works in their departments due to a shortage of funds.
The Deputy CM instructed the secretaries of various departments to rectify the situation. He ordered officials to first identify and prioritise works that are 95% complete. He stressed that representation should be ensured for all constituencies and advised officials to give priority to projects with Central government-sponsored schemes and NABARD assistance.
The Cabinet Sub-Committee also instructed that while spending funds, simultaneous efforts must be made to increase revenues. All officials were ordered to prepare plans accordingly. Senior officials were also advised to coordinate with their respective Ministers to prepare priority lists of development works before attending the Sub-Committee meetings.

Supporting Justice Sudershan Reddy could lead to accusations from the BJP that the BRS is in league with the Congress, while not supporting him may invite criticism from the Congress that the BRS is colluding with the BJP. Either choice risks damaging the party's image and leadership credibility. Adding to the conundrum, KCR previously invited Justice Sudershan Reddy to a Chandiyagam at his farmhouse during his tenure as chief minister. Whether this personal connection will translate into BRS support for Reddy's candidature remains a topic of heated debate in Telangana's political circles. Meanwhile, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has urged the BRS supremo to back Justice Sudershan Reddy, emphasising his status as a source of Telugu pride and calling for all parties to unite in supporting his vice-presidential bid. This appeal has heightened curiosity about KCR's next move and which side the BRS will ultimately be on in the vice-presidential election.

KTR peddling lies on Kaynes Semicon shift to Gujarat, says Minister Sridhar
HYDERABAD: IT & Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu on Tuesday described the allegations levelled by BRS working president KT Rama Rao that Kaynes Semiconductor shifted its project from Telangana to Gujarat due to the state government's failure as 'outrageous lies'. In a press statement issued here, the minister said the company was lured to Gujarat by massive subsidies offered by the Centre and the BJP-led government in that state. 'Kaynes did not flee Telangana. It was lured by massive subsidies showered in Gujarat by the Centre and BJP state government, something KTR is fully aware of. Yet he chooses to mislead people with false claims,' Sridhar Babu said. The minister explained that under the Rs 76,000 crore India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), the Centre approved a 50% subsidy for the Kaynes project at Sanand in Gujarat. 'For the proposed investment of Rs 3,307 crore, the central subsidy itself amounted to Rs 1,653.5 crore. In addition, the Gujarat government extended another 40% of the central subsidy, which is about Rs 661 crore taking the total subsidy package to nearly Rs 2,314.9 crore, or 70% of the project cost,' he added.

HYDERABAD: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Tuesday demanded that the Union government abolish the GST on handlooms. In an open letter to the Centre, ahead of the GST Council meeting, Rama Rao said that after breaking the backs of hardworking citizens of this nation with uncontrolled price hikes for over a decade, all the chatter about GST slab abolishment feels like yet another 'jumla' (empty promise). 'On behalf of the BRS and scores of common men of this country, I demand actionable and impactful plans to ease out the burden that is crumbling us all for over a decade,' he said. 'If the prime minister really wants to bring 'a true Diwali', don't let fuel prices burn our pockets, reduce the hiked prices and abolish additional excise duties and cess on all fuels — diesel and petrol,' he added.
