'Disclose How Many Aircraft...': Congress Questions Govt On Op Sindoor Losses
Last Updated: The remark from Congress came hours after CDS Chauhan hinted at India losing fighter jets, but dismissed Pakistan's claim that it downed six Indian jets. Congress on Saturday asked the government to be transparent about India's military losses in Operation Sindoor. The remark by Telangana's Minister of Irrigation Uttam Kumar Reddy came after General Anil Chauhan, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), spoke about the loss of Indian aircraft in the operation. 'The fact that the fighter aircraft were shot down is something the government needs to stop denying. The CDS himself mentioned that. Earlier, Air Marshal Bharti had mentioned it indirectly in his briefing report, along with the DGMO… The whole country must realise today that for some reason, the GoI was not upfront with whatever happened," said Reddy. He also asked the government to clarify US President Donald Trump announcing the ceasefire between India and Pakistan on May 10 before any official announcement was made by the Indian government. 'The government of India never clearly stated how and why the US president first announced the ceasefire through a tweet beforehand, and hours later DGMO Pakistan called DGMO India, and the ceasefire was agreed upon. The Government of India must be more transparent on every significant event that took place throughout the Indo-Pak operation," he added. The fact that the fighter aircraft were down is something that the Government of India needs to stop denying. The CDS himself mentioned that. Earlier Air Marshal Bharti had mentioned it indirectly in his briefing along with the DGMO. He specifically said, 'losses are normal in… — Uttam Kumar Reddy (@UttamINC) May 31, 2025 His remark came hours after CDS Chauhan, in conversation with Bloomberg TV at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, hinted at India losing fighter jets. He, however, dismissed Pakistan's claim that it downed six Indian jets. 'What is important is not the jet being down, but why they were down. What mistakes were made — that is important. Numbers are not," he said. 'The good part is that we are able to understand the tactical mistake that we made, remedy it, rectify it, and then implement it again after two days and fly all our jets again, targeting at long range," added CSD Chauhan. Meanwhile, Congress has reiterated its demand for transparency on Operation Sindoor on several occasions. Watch India Pakistan Breaking News on CNN-News18. BJP MLA raises questions over govt footing repair bills for Kaleshwaram proj
Hyderabad: Sirpur MLA Dr Palavai Harish Babu questioned whether the government would cover the costs of renovation and repairs for the Kaleshwaram project. Addressing the media on Sunday, the BJP Chief Whip Dr Palavai Harish Babu posed the question to Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy. 'On one hand, there is a discussion about corruption in the Kaleshwaram project. On the other hand, contractors have sent a letter to the government requesting that it bear the entire cost of the renovation, which raises many doubts,' he added. He noted that two days ago, L&T-PES, the construction company behind the Medigadda Barrage, and APCONS, the construction company for the Annaram Barrage, wrote to the government asking for the full cost of renovation for Medigadda, Sundilla, and Annaram barrages in Kaleshwaram to be covered. The contractors have indicated that conducting tests as per the NDSA recommendations on the barrages will cost up to Rs 40 crore, which they want the government to cover. This is evidence of the government's incompetence, he said. While the Chief Minister and the Irrigation Minister claim they will eliminate irregularities and corruption in the Kaleshwaram project and recover wasted government funds, it is absurd that the contractors are expecting the government to cover the restoration costs. Further, reports indicate that the final bill for Annaram and Sundilla is Rs 176 crore, and the contractor has demanded Rs. 4.5 crore for work completed according to NDSA recommendations, along with a bank guarantee of Rs 43 crore. If the government covers the entire restoration cost without addressing the corruption in Kaleshwaram, it would be an additional burden on the people. The reconstruction of the seventh block in Kaleshwaram and the repairs of the Sundilla and Annaram barrages, as per the NDSA report, is estimated to cost an additional Rs 10,000 crore. He asked if the government would bear this entire cost. The final bill for the Medigadda barrage has not yet been approved. The government should refrain from rushing to pay this final bill until the restoration of Kaleshwaram is complete. Irrigation Minister Sri Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that the irrigation department currently pays Rs 16,000 crore annually for loans and interest. He said that if the restoration costs for Kaleshwaram fall on the government, 'there is a risk of the state going bankrupt.' he said. 'On behalf of the BJP legislature and party, we demand that the government take action against the corruption in Kaleshwaram and recover funds from the responsible contractors and the leaders of the previous government,' he said.

Thief is scolding the police: Telangana minister Uttam Kumar Reddy hits out at KTR over
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], May 24 (ANI): Telangana Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy hit out at the Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president KT Rama Rao over his recent 'scamgress' remark. On Friday, KT Rama Rao slammed the Revanth Reddy-led Telangana government and stated that under Congress, the state has become 'scamgress', following the Ghosh commission summoned former Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao. Slamming KTR, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the 'thief is scolding the police.' Referring to KTR, Reddy said that these people were involved in 'corruption', and the Kaleshwaram project collapsed due to their inefficiency. The Telangana minister said that BRS got nervous when they received notice from the investigative agencies and are saying 'ridiculous' things. 'The way KTR is talking is absolutely ridiculous. The thief is scolding the police. These are the people who are involved in massive corruption; the Kaleshwaram project has collapsed due to inefficiency. We have ordered a judicial commission, which is now issuing notices to all those involved. As soon as they got the notice, they got nervous and started saying some absolutely ridiculous things. We are saying if you have any information, then go and tell the judicial commission, we will take legal action as per the report of the judicial commission', Uttam Kumar Reddy said. Justice PC Ghose Commission on Tuesday issued summons to former Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), former Minister Harish Rao, and BJP MP Etela Rajender, who also served as a minister during the BRS regime in the ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP). The Commission, which has been probing financial and procedural lapses in the multi-crore irrigation project, directed the three political leaders to appear for questioning in the first week of June. According to the sources, KCR was asked to appear before the Commission on June 5, followed by Harish Rao on June 6 and Etela Rajender on June 9. (ANI)
