CM will launch distribution of new ration cards on July 14, says Uttam
'The government's focus is to ensure that every eligible person gets a ration card without any discrimination,' he said, adding that review meetings will now be held twice a month to maintain strict oversight.
Uttam Kumar Reddy explained that Telangana's flagship free fine rice scheme delivers 6 kg of rice per person every month to nearly 3.10 crore people, about 84% of the population, through fair price shops, at a cost of over Rs 13,000 crore annually. In June, July, and August, the state provided three months' worth of rations at once to ensure uninterrupted supply, distributing 18 kg per person, 105 kg per Antyodaya family, and 30 kg per Annapurna family.
He sharply criticised the previous BRS government for neglecting food security and ration card enrolment. 'At the time of Telangana's formation in 2014, there were 89.73 lakh white ration cards, but the BRS added only around 49,000 new cards, mostly during by-elections, ignoring lakhs of families,' Uttam Kumar Reddy pointed out. He said the Congress government had received lakhs of new applications and was addressing them in a mission-driven manner.

I have the right to question Nehru's deeds: BJP's Nishikant Dubey
BJP MP Nishikant Dubey launched a blistering attack on the Congress and the Nehru-Gandhi family in the Lok Sabha. Responding to Priyanka Gandhi's remarks, Dubey asserted that a society that forgets its history is ruined. He stated that while Jawaharlal Nehru might be Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi's grandfather, he was India's first Prime Minister, and his actions are open to scrutiny. Citing Nehru's book 'Glimpses of World History', Dubey claimed Nehru downplayed Mahmud Ghazni's atrocities. He blamed the partition on 'dynasty politics', alleging that Nehru's appointment of his sister as an ambassador upset Liaquat Ali, prompting him to move to Pakistan. Dubey also held the Nehru-Gandhi family responsible for the Kashmir issue, the 1962 war with China, and neglecting military heroes like Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, who he claimed was denied his pension for years.

Shashi Tharoor refuses to comment on PM Modi's speech on Operation Sindoor in Lok Sabha: 'I am not...'
Shashi Tharoor, the Congress MP from Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram, refused to comment on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech on Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. 'I am not speaking on this topic or making any comments on it,' Tharoor told reporters. Multiple leaders from the Opposition, as well leaders of the BJP gave their views about the joint military action, weighing in during the three-day debate on the Pahalgam terror attack and the subsequent military response, launched after a week of parliamentary disruptions. Shashi Tharoor, however, had no comments. Even when he was asked if there was any person whose speech he particularly liked, the Congress MP, who led the Operation Sindoor all-party delegation in June, refused to say anything. PM Modi, while addressing the Lok Sabha on the debate on Operation Sindoor, said that the 'Armed Forces were given a free hand,' and were told to decide 'when to attack, where to attack and how to attack'. Taking a swipe at the Opposition, PM Modi said 'I am standing before this gathering with victory in mind, to present India's position with strength and clarity. And to those who fail to see India's side [referring to Opposition leaders], I am here to hold up a mirror.' He further said that only three countries spoke in favour of Pakistan at the UN. Dismissing claims of US intervention in the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, PM Modi said, 'No leader of any country asked India to stop the operation." Continuing his attack on the Opposition, PM Modi even slammed the previous Congress governments over the Batla House encounter, and the Indus Waters Treaty, claiming that the Treaty was 'Nehru's biggest blunder'. PM Modi also asserted that through Operation Sindoor, 'India proved that nuclear blackmail won't work anymore and that the country will not bow down to nuclear threats.' Shashi Tharoor had previously commended the execution of Operation Sindoor, and had also praised the code-name and symbolic imagery.
