The Sun31-05-2025
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested an Indian national suspected of being the notorious drug kingpin of a transnational syndicate who is wanted by his country's government while hiding in a hotel in the capital here on May 13.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the 30-year-old man was arrested by a team from the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) together with the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN) when he was located in a hotel room at 1.35 am.
He said checks found that the man was believed to have been in the country since early this year on a tourist pass.
'Further investigations found that the man had no involvement in drug trafficking activities in Malaysia.
'However, further action and intelligence are being actively carried out by the JSJN to identify if the man has a network or is involved in secret society activities in Malaysia,' he said when contacted here today.
Following that, Razarudin said the foreign national, who was listed as a wanted individual or fugitive by the Indian government, was deported to his country on a flight at 6.54 pm on Tuesday (May 27).
The 'Indian Express' newspaper reported earlier (on May 28) that the drug kingpin of an international drug syndicate was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) of India after being extradited from Malaysia.
The international syndicate led by the man is believed to be carrying out drug smuggling worth 1,128 crore (RM635 million) including cocaine and marijuana obtained from the United States through cargo shipments.

Netizens worldwide rally for justice for Zara Qairina

KUALA LUMPUR : The death of 13-year-old Zara Qairina Mahathir has resonated not just at home but has gained international attention, as people in a number of countries have come forth to express their outrage. In Singapore, Facebook page Death Kopitiam Singapore wrote: "The cries for help of a helpless girl. The cries of a community at her death. The disillusionment of a nation." Meanwhile, in Hatyai, Thailand, schoolgirls in uniform held up posters with Zara's face, emblazoned with the words "Justice for Zara." One Thai girl posted an especially emotional post dedicated to Zara. "I ask everyone from around the world to join in shouting for justice for our little sister. She was a Malaysian who was attacked and killed. "I pray that you receive justice, little one. May the perpetrator be caught, and may you rest in peace in a serene land. With love and concern from your Thai sister #Justiceforzara #justiceforzaraqairina," she wrote. Similarly, in Indonesia, students shared similar messages and posts online. As far away as the United Kingdom, a Twitter user, Andy (@andychester\_), voiced frustration at authorities: "The school, police, hospital and even the Sabah and Education Ministers all failed her from the start. Similar calls were made from people in Brunei, Philippines, South Korea, China, Japan, Cambodia, Myanmar and even Laos, reported a Malay daily earlier. Zara fell from the third floor of her hostel in Papar, Sabah, on July 16 and died the following day. Police today admitted there were shortcomings in the early probe into the death of 13-year-old Zara Qairina Mahathir, who is now believed to be a victim of bullying. Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk M. Kumar S. Muthuvelu said investigations uncovered statements indicating that there was bullying. Kumar also said that a special task force had also found non-compliance with investigation procedures.

229 foreigners denied entry at KLIA for immigration violations

PUTRAJAYA: A total of 229 foreign nationals were refused entry into Malaysia after failing to meet immigration requirements during a 24-hour operation at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). The operation, conducted by the Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS), screened 764 visitors at Terminals 1 and 2 from 7.30 am Tuesday to 7.30 am today. Bangladesh nationals received the highest number of Not-To-Land (NTL) notices, with 204 individuals turned away. Fourteen Indian nationals, three each from Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Indonesia, and two from Cambodia were also denied entry. Among the Bangladeshis, 66 arrived on three early-morning flights from Dhaka. Fake hotel bookings, lack of return tickets and insufficient proof of funds were the main reasons for refusal. 'These individuals are believed to have intended to misuse their visit passes to stay and work illegally in the country,' AKPS said. In a separate case, an Indonesian man in his 50s was caught attempting to re-enter Malaysia just six days after being deported for a similar offence. He was immediately deported again and issued a stern warning. - Bernama
