launched a caustic attack on his political opponents on Sunday, stating that 'no bunch of clowns can defeat
DMK
.'
Addressing party functionaries at the party's general council meeting at Uthangudi in Madurai, Stalin said there was no anti – incumbency against the DMK govt. `"Rather, there is a wave of pro–incumbency. The support for DMK is much stronger than opposition,'' he said.
Stalin said DMK was alive to uphold ideology and its endeavour to win election was to spread the ideology. "That's why no bunch of clowns could defeat us so far.
They will never be able to defeat in the future too,'' he said.
But there was a concerted effort to project the DMK govt in a bad light, he said. The onslaught by our enemies would increase in the coming days as elections are around the corner. There would be a surge in slanders and attempts would be made to plant falsehood through fake opinion polls. "We should be prepared to defeat those attempts and counter them with truth,'' he said.
By this time next year, the headlines would be about DMK's election victory, he said.
Stalin took sharp digs at
AIADMK
and its general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS), accusing him of fully surrendering the party to the
BJP
. "Now he is trying to surrender Tamil Nadu too to the BJP, which is why Amit Shah keeps visiting the state. But that won't happen," Stalin said. "No matter which Shah visits TN, they cannot rule us. For Delhi, TN will always be out of control," he said.
Stalin said EPS wanted the DMK alliance to split and hoped that it would happen if he 'enacts a split with BJP.' Since that didn't happen, he rejoined the BJP front, Stalin said. He however questioned the silence of EPS when Shah announced the BJP – AIADMK alliance. "The conduct of EPS when Shah announced the alliance was more like the way he behaved when Sasikala declared him as CM in 2017,'' Stalin said.
Training his guns on BJP, Stalin urged cadres to inform people that if BJP captures power in TN, there would be Hindi imposition, communal and religious clashes.
Regression would replace industrial growth, he said. He then took a veiled dig at TVK president Vijay, stating that 'there were some new entrants bent upon duping youth by claiming to be the alternatives.' "We should give a fitting response to them as well,'' he said.
Rallying the cadres for the assembly election, Stalin urged them to increase party membership. Bring in more young people. Our movement needs the energy and passion of youth, we need young blood to take our ideology forward, he said.
Stalin lavishly praised DMK allies stating that the front's victory was made possible by the allies. ``One key reason for our continued victories is our alliance. Our alliance remains strong because we respect our allies. I treat our alliance leaders with friendship and love. You must do the same,'' he told the cadres.
Stalin said beginning June he would meet party functionaries constituency-wise, at Anna Arivalayam. "At that time, we will have one-on-one conversations," he added.

A night of victory for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) turned into a horrific tragedy as a tragic stampede outside M Chinnaswamy stadium claimed 11 lives and injured 33 others during IPL victory celebrations on Wednesday. What should have been a historic celebration for RCB fans has instead become a heartbreaking episode marked by mourning and political blame games. Soon after the news of the stampede broke out in the Congress-ruled Karnataka, chief minister Siddaramaiah expressed his deep condolences and announced ₹10 lakh compensation for victims' kin. 'This tragedy should not have happened. The government expresses deep sorrow over this incident,' he added. Ordering a magisterial inquiry into the tragedy with a deadline of 15 days, Siddaramaiah said the incident should not be politicised, 'Such incidents happened in many places, 50-60 people died in Kumbh Mela. I did not criticise. If the Congress criticises, that is a different matter. Did I or the Karnataka government criticise?' Karnataka CM was talking about the recent stampede at Maha Kumbh mela in BJP-ruled state of Uttar Pradesh that claimed the lives at least 30 people. No one expected such a huge crowd. The stadium has a capacity of only 35,000 people, but 2-3 lakh people came.' 'There were over 1.5 lakh people at the gates, banging and eventually breaking through in some places. The attempt to enter the stadium resulted in the stampede.' He added, 'There are small gates. The people entered through the gates. They have also broken the gates, so a stampede has taken place. Prima facie, it looks like that. I am not saying that nothing has happened. The inquiry will bring out facts.' BJP MP Tejasvi Surya criticised the Congress-led state government, accusing it of turning the celebration into a political spectacle without adequate preparation. 'The stampede was completely avoidable. It was state-orchestrated,' Surya said, alleging that an open invitation by CM Siddaramaiah on social media triggered an uncontrollable flood of fans without proper crowd and security measures in place. RCB and RCB's superstar cricketers have made hundreds of crores from the love of fans... now it is time for RCB to also be in terms of distress and challenge with the fans and their families.' Union minister HD Kumaraswamy blamed deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar directly. 'The person responsible for this tragedy must be immediately sacked from the cabinet,' he declared from New Delhi. NEW DELHI: Karnataka deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar in front of the media on Thursday, speaking for the first time after a stampede outside Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium left 11 people dead and over 70 injured during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) IPL victory celebrations. The senior Congress leader, visibly emotional, said the tragedy had left him deeply shaken. "We must learn an administrative lesson, let the opposition do politics on dead bodies. I will list how many dead bodies they have done politics on. But it hurts to see the little children. I have seen their pain," he told news agency ANI. Shivakumar had apologised on Wednesday, shortly after the tragedy, acknowledging that the government had underestimated the size of the crowd. "This should not have happened and we never expected such a big crowd. The stadium's capacity is 35,000, but more than 3 lakh people were there. Gates (of the stadium) have been broken. We apologise for this incident. We want to know the facts and give a clear message," he said. He accused the opposition BJP of politicising the event, adding: "BJP is doing politics. We are very sorry for the incident. We will work out a better solution in the future." The Karnataka government has postponed all official events scheduled for Friday, barring the cabinet meeting, as a mark of respect. "Tomorrow, except the cabinet meeting, all programmes have been postponed. No celebrations, including the World Environment Day." Shivakumar added. Compensation announced Chief minister Siddaramaiah, while addressing a separate press conference, announced financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to the families of those killed and free medical care for the injured. "A major tragedy occurred during the victory celebrations. It happened near the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The government has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the deceased. The government will provide free treatment to the injured," he said. "11 died and 33 were injured in the stampede. This tragedy should not have happened. The government expresses deep sorrow over this incident," he added. The chief minister also confirmed that a magisterial inquiry had been ordered into the incident, with a report expected in 15 days. "I don't want to defend this incident. Our government will not do politics on this. I have ordered a magisterial inquiry and given 15 days' time. People even broke the gates of the stadium. There was a stampede. No one expected such a huge crowd. The stadium has a capacity of only 35,000 people, but 2-3 lakh people came," Siddaramaiah said.
