The police said Danish, 29, a native of Muradabad, was taken to a place in 80 Badagabettu village, near Manipal, for panchanama where he attacked the constable Ritesh was holding the rope tied to the hands of Danish. The accused Danish hit Ritesh on his chest and pushed him away. As Ritesh fell on the ground, Danish took a big stone and tried to hit him. When police inspector Ramachandra Nayak came to prevent it, Danish tried to hit Nayak with that stone. Nayak then used the lathi to hit Danish on his leg
Both Ritesh and Danish were admitted to the government hospital in Ajjarkadu, Udupi, the police said.

Dalit girl gang-rapedin Moradabad, 2 held
Bareilly: A 16-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped by two men at a village in Moradabad, UP. Police said the Class 10 student went missing on Sunday and she was rescued the next day. An FIR under BNS sections of kidnap, gang-rape along with the Pocso and SC/ST acts were registered against Mohd Shaqir and Mohd Sameer. Both the men were arrested and sent to jail. Delhi court reserves order on Engineer Rashid's plea to attend Parliament
A Delhi court Tuesday reserved its order on an interim bail plea by Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid for attending the monsoon session of Parliament starting July 21. Rashid, who defeated National Conference leader Omar Abdullah in the Baramulla seat by over two lakh votes in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, has been lodged in Tihar jail since 2019 in a 2017 terror funding case. Represented by advocates Aditya Wadhwa, Vikhyat Oberoi and Nishita Gupta, Rashid argued in court that he should either be granted interim bail or permission to attend Parliament in custody, without payment of travel costs. The lawyers also argued that Rashid had been granted interim bail in September last year for campaigning for the elections and since this bail had been extended thrice, he could not be considered a security threat. Opposing his plea, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) argued that Rashid should not be granted bail and if he is allowed to attend Parliament in custody, then he should be made to pay the travel expenses. Rashid's lawyers argued that he shouldn't be made to pay travel expenses as he was seeking to attend Parliament as his public duty and not for some personal work. After hearing the arguments from both sides, Additional Sessions Judge Chander Jit Singh reserved the order for July 21. Earlier this year, the Delhi High Court had allowed Rashid to attend Parliament on two occasions – on March 10 and February 25. The MP was arrested on August 9, 2019, four days after the abrogation of Article 370 and the removal of J&K's special status. According to the NIA, Rashid used various public platforms to 'propagate the ideology of separatism and secessionism', and was closely associated with various terrorist organisations. The agency had also alleged that he wanted to 'legitimise' the United Jihad Council (UJC), a platform of anti-India militant groups in J&K. According to the NIA, Rashid's name cropped up during the interrogation of businessman and co-accused Zahoor Watali. After being chargesheeted in October 2019, a special NIA court framed charges against Rashid and others in March 2022 under Sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 121 (waging war against the government), and 124A (sedition) of the Indian Penal Code and for offences relating to terrorist acts and terror funding under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

BJP Scheduled Castes Morcha demands resignation of Allamprabhu Patil
The Kalaburagi district unit of the BJP's Scheduled Castes Morcha has demanded the resignation of Kalaburagi South MLA Allamprabhu Patil following his aide's arrest in a drugs case by the Maharashtra Police. BJP Scheduled Castes Morcha Kalaburagi city unit president Mallikarjun Janekeri addressing presspersons here on Tuesday said that Kalaburagi South Block Congress unit president Lingaraj Kanni, a close associate of Mr. Patil, was arrested by the Thane Police in Maharashtra for being in possession of narcotic substances and making an attempt to sell them. The police recovered 120 bottles of the banned Codeine-based syrup and registered a case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. He said that though Congress leaders promise to free Kalaburagi district from sand and drug mafia, their close aides are involved in illegal activities in the district. BJP's OBC Morcha State secretary Avvanna Myakeri urged the Maharashtra government to treat the drug case with utmost seriousness, while suggesting that it be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Mr. Myakeri said that accused Lingaraj Kanni is a close aide of Minister Priyank Kharge and also Allamprabhu Patil. He said that a drug racket is going on in a large scale in the district and the arrest of Lingaraj Kanni is just a tip of the iceberg as more are suspected to be involved in the case.
