Abdulla Al Hamed holds media, academic meetings in Osaka ahead of BRIDGE Summit
OSAKA (WAM) Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Office (NMO) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the UAE Media Council, held a series of meetings with media and academic leaders in the Japanese city of Osaka, accompanied by Dr. Jamal Mohammed Obaid Al Kaabi, Director-General of NMO.The visit marks the start of Al Hamed's Asia tour to prepare for the upcoming BRIDGE Summit, scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi this December.The tour reflects the NMO Chairman's commitment to strengthening international cooperation and expanding strategic partnerships with leading global institutions in media, education, thought leadership and advanced technology.During the meetings, Al Hamed discussed prospects for joint cooperation with prominent Japanese institutions and individuals.The discussions focused on the integration of traditional and new media, the role of universities and cultural institutions in preparing the next generation of media and thought leaders, and the value of creative platforms in fostering cross-cultural understanding.Al Hamed stressed that the Bridge Summit presents a strategic opportunity to align global media and cultural efforts amid a rapidly changing landscape. He emphasised that building partnerships with esteemed organisations such as Japan's public broadcaster, Tokyo International University, and leading media platforms supports the UAE's position as a global centre for media and intellectual dialogue.
The meetings included Takeshi Shibasaki, Executive Producer and Head of Co-production at Japan's public broadcasting organisation (NHK) Value Development Center; Mika Sugiura, Editor-in-Chief of Japan Forward; Cy West, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Rihga Royal Hotel Osaka; and Wada Masashi, Honorary Professor at Tokyo International University.

NMO head ramps up cooperation in media fields
Abdulla Bin Mohammed Bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the UAE National Media Office and Chairman of the UAE Media Council, visited Huawei's Research and Development Centre in Shanghai as part of the preparatory tour for the "BRIDGE 2025" Summit – the largest platform uniting media, cultural and creative content creators, leaders, and decision-makers to transform how the world communicates, set to take place in Abu Dhabi from 8–10 December 2025. He was accompanied by Dr Jamal Mohammed Al Kaabi, Director-General of the UAE National Media Office, which reflects a commitment to exploring opportunities that shape the future of media, combining advanced technologies with a human-centred vision. The delegation was welcomed by several Huawei executives, led by Lv Yang Ming, President of the Huawei Cloud Media Service Product Department; Lu Zhen Yu, Expert in Huawei Cloud Media Service Products; Wharton Huang, Vice President of Government & Enterprise, Huawei Cloud UAE; and Lewis Tan, Head of Strategy and Marketing, Huawei Cloud UAE. The UAE officials held several meetings with Huawei's leadership team to discuss cooperation in the fields of media, AI solutions, and their applications in digital broadcasting, big data, and 5G services. During the discussions, Abdulla Al Hamed highlighted the importance of building bridges of cooperation between UAE media institutions and international developers to deliver intelligent media solutions that support the Arabic language, promote knowledge exchange, and expand collaboration in digital broadcasting, smart education, and interactive platforms. The visit included a tour of the Huawei Lianqiu Lake R&D Centre, which showcases their latest innovations in media and smart education.
