Minister Satya Kumar expresses displeasure over delay in Vijayawada drainage project works
1 2 Vijayawada: District in-charge minister Satya Kumar Yadav expressed strong displeasure over the state of Vijayawada's stormwater drainage system during the district review committee (DRC) meeting held on Wednesday. The minister was particularly critical that detailed project report (DPR) for the ₹1,000 crore drainage project, proposed in 2019, was still not prepared. "Four years have passed, yet there is no DPR. I want to know the reasons for the delay," Yadav demanded, instructing officials to expedite the process and begin work without further delay. The minister stressed that tenders would soon be called for the construction of multi-specialty hospitals in every constituency, marking a major step towards improving healthcare access. Addressing recent allegations, Yadav dismissed claims of a fertiliser shortage as 'poisonous propaganda' against the coalition govt. He reminded officials to act in alignment with the sentiments and needs of the people, stating that issues raised by public representatives must be addressed promptly through the DRC platform. Reviewing the follow-up on earlier meetings, the minister noted that only 19 out of 55 pending issues were resolved — a mere 32 percent. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Learn 57+ Languages Easily with AI [Join] Talkpal AI Sign Up Undo He urged department heads to work with urgency and sincerity to close the gap. "No matter how indifferent we may seem, we will not ignore public issues," he assured. Tejashwi Yadav alleges BJP enrolling outsiders as Bihar voters
Patna, Aug 13 (UNI) In a scathing criticism of the BJP, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav today accused the Bihar organization secretary of BJP, Bhikhubhai Dalsania, who is a Gujarat native, of recently becoming a voter in Patna and accused the ruling party of altering the electoral rolls by registering non-residents as voters and allowing duplicate voter IDs for BJP supporters allegedly in connivance with the Election Commission. Speaking to media in Patna, Yadav claimed Dalsania cast his last vote in Gujarat in 2024, raising questions about his residency in Bihar. The RJD leader accused the BJP of manipulating electoral rolls in Bihar by enrolling non-residents as voters and facilitating duplicate voter IDs for its supporters, allegedly in collusion with the Election Commission. Yadav alleged that Gujaratis were becoming voters in Bihar. BJP's in-charge Bhikhubhai Dalsania got his name removed from Gujarat's voter list and became a voter in Patna. "Once voting here was over, he may move somewhere else and become a voter there too," Yadav charged. Displaying some documents, Yadav alleged that Muzaffarpur Mayor Nirmala Devi, a BJP leader, holds two separate EPIC (Electors Photo Identity Card) numbers in the same assembly constituency, which is a violation of election laws. He claimed that Nirmala Devi's name appeared on both booth number 257 and booth number 153 in the Muzaffarpur constituency. Her age is recorded as 48 years at one booth and 45 years at another. Two of her brothers-in-law, Dilip Kumar and Manoj Kumar, also allegedly possessed two voter IDs each, he pointed out. Dubbing it an organized fraud, Yadav alleged that the BJP was using such tactics to steal votes with the active support of the Election Commission. Accusing the poll panel of favoring the BJP, Yadav said that earlier the BJP misused the CBI, ED, and Income Tax to influence elections. Now, when that is no longer enough, they are using the Election Commission. In 2020, they stole votes, costing the RJD 10 seats, some by margins as low as 12,000 votes, he claimed. The RJD leader alleged that opposition votes were being systematically deleted while BJP supporters were being issued duplicate voter IDs in the same constituencies. Raising concerns over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, Yadav claimed that 6.5 million names have already been deleted from Bihar's voter list and warned that the number could rise further if citizens fail to provide the required documents. He alleged that the process was being conducted in a manner that deprived people of the chance to appeal against deletions. Yadav announced that starting August 17, the RJD will embark on a 'Voter Rights Yatra' to mobilize public opinion and expose alleged irregularities in the electoral rolls. He also hinted at a possible boycott of the upcoming elections, saying that it will be discussed with the alliance partners of the Grand Alliance whether to boycott the polls. "It appears that everything is pre-decided," he quipped. UNI RS MI PRS

Bihar polls: 'EC is helping BJP,' alleges RJD's Tejashwi Yadav; claims Muzaffarpur mayor has 2 EPIC IDs in same Vidhan Sabha
PATNA: Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday accused the Election Commission of India of collaborating with the Bharatiya Janata Party to manipulate Bihar's voter list by issuing two Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) numbers to its leaders and workers. "Before we had talked about Bihar's deputy chief minister Vijay Sinha. Now you call it a crime, mistake, or an expose, we had said it before too, but today I want to tell you that EC is helping the BJP, and cutting the votes of the Opposition. The people of BJP are being given not one, but two EPIC numbers for themselves, in one vidhan sabha only, " Tejashwi said. "We are exposing one more thing. Muzzafapur's mayor, a BJP leader, named Nirmala Devi, she has two EPIC IDs in the same vidhan sabha. In that too, they are different. Not only this, but Nirmala Devi has two brother-in-laws, they also have two EPIC numbers," he added. The RJD leader further claimed that during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) ahead of the assembly elections, names of people from other states were being added to Bihar's voter list. "Now the people of Gujarat are becoming voters of Bihar. Bhikhubhai Dalsaniya, who is in charge of the BJP, has become a voter of Patna. He cast his last vote in Gujarat in 2024, but he is still a voter of Patna. He had his name deleted in Gujarat, but it's worth noting that it hasn't been five years, and you started changing places and voting. When the Bihar elections are over, then where will he go after getting his name deleted?" Yadav alleged. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The Most Beautiful Women In The World Undo He claimed that in earlier elections, BJP used agencies such as the CBI, ED and Income Tax department against the Opposition, but when those methods became less effective, the Election Commission was "brought forward." He also alleged that "vote chori" took place in the 2020 Bihar elections. "Before BJP had a formula of winning elections, using CBI, ED, Income Tax used to be put (on Opposition), when these agencies became useless, the Election Commission has been brought forward. Election Commission did vote chori, vote dacoity in 2020 ( Bihar assembly elections ) too. The vote difference of ours (opposition and the ruling alliance) was just 12 thousand (votes) and in that we were made to lose more than 10 seats," Yadav claimed. Questioning the neutrality of the poll body, he added, "Some with 12 votes, or 50, or 500 votes, that way we had many seats which we were made to lose. Similarly with Chandigarh you would have seen how they do it, in broad daylight they did it. Now there was a CCTV so they were caught, that is why the EC has removed CCTV only. Look how neutral they are." Yadav also criticised the Election Commission for not addressing the media about the ongoing SIR, saying, "The vote dacoity has been happening, but now that the truth has come out, then BJP ki bolti band hai (BJP is silent). Till today the Election Commission has not done a press conference, it has not happened till now." Earlier, on August 10, Bihar deputy chief minister Vijay Kumar Sinha stated that he would respond to the notice issued to him concerning allegations of possessing two EPIC numbers. "I will certainly reply to the notice from the constitutional body. I respect the constitutional body and have faith in the Constitution," Sinha stated. The Patna district magistrate and the Bankipur Electoral Registration Officer have issued notices to Sinha regarding the allegations, with the ERO requesting a response by August 14. Responding to the charges, Sinha said, "Our whole family had voter IDs from Bankipur. In April 2024, I applied to add my name to the Lakhisarai constituency and remove it from Bankipur. It did not happen immediately, so I called the BLO, filled the form, and took the receipt. I have all the documents. I voted from only one place last time too; it was in Lakhisarai." He added that the deletion form for his Bankipur entry was rejected. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI).
