Go Ahead Eagles have rejected a £1.5million offer from Celtic for Danish winger Jakob Breum.
The Parkhead club are in the market for wide men after selling Nicholas Kuhn to Como for £17m and losing the services of the injured Jota until early next year.
An offer for 21-year-old right sided attacker Breum fell well below the Dutch club's valuation of £5million.
Fighting off interest in Breum and midfielder Oliver Antman club director Jan Willem van Dop spoke of an offer from a 'foreign club' for the former earlier this month. It's understood the club in question was Celtic.
'The only thing that is going on and as far as we are concerned are the unsuccessful moves,' said Van Dop in an interview with RTTV Oost. 'There has been a bid for Jakob Breum from a foreign club

Breum moved to the Netherlands from Odense two years ago. Insisting that he had no intention of losing his coveted duo for a 'pittance' Van Dop added: 'We think that Breum and Antman should be allowed to leave for more than six million (£5million). If that doesn't happen with this club, then maybe another one will come. And if not, then we hope that with all the positive feelings they have, they will stay with us and go into Europe. Then we will see during the winter break.'
Celtic also have a long-term interest in Antwerp's Belgian winger Michel-Ange Balikwisha.
Jibril Rekkab has gone on the record saying that the player is open to the idea of joining Celtic, but claimed that negotiations had yet to kick in.

Man Utd transfer news: Star considers exit as Old Trafford stance on new striker emerges

Manchester United still have work to do in the transfer market with a number of sales to make before they can add new players for Ruben Amorim with weeks remaining of the transfer window Just three weeks remain until the start of the Premier League season as Ruben Amorim shapes his new squad. The Red Devils are looking to bounce back from a disappointing season that saw a 15th place finish in the top-flight. ‌ United have added Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Diego Leon in time for their tour of the United States. The Red Devils have replenished their forward line in their bid to solve goalscoring issues but are yet to add a true striker to their squad. ‌ United have been linked to the likes of Ollie Watkins and Benjamin Sesko as the club continue to monitor opportunities. But exits may be required before another deal is done in the north west. ‌ Marcus Rashford has finally departed but just on loan and United will hope for transfer fees to bolster their kitty for the final weeks. Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia are all up for sale but yet to find new clubs this summer. Star considers exit Luke Shaw is 'ready to quit' Manchester United and willing to listen to offers from other clubs. The 30-year-old defender is reported to be aware of 'serious' interest from Saudi Arabia and mulling a departure in the coming months. Shaw is said to understand that his decade-long United career could be coming to an end with competition in his position from new additions Patrick Dorgu and Diego Leon. Amorim is said to be in no rush to lose Shaw however, despite the injury-plagued star's £150,000-a-week wages. New suitors Two clubs from the Saudi Pro League are interested in signing Antony from Manchester United. The Brazilian winger has been left out of United's pre-season tour squad having spent the second half of last season on loan at Real Betis. ‌ The La Liga side have yet to agree a deal for the former Ajax star who impressed in La Liga last term. United want to seal a permanent exit and transfer fee for the player, with Betis thus far unwilling to make an offer that meets United's demands. Antony has also been linked too Erik ten Hag's new side Bayer Leverkusen. The Dutch coach pushed back on the chance of a move however, and said: "We're not interested in him at the moment, but we'll see what happens in the future." Stance on a new striker An imminent move for a striker is not expected from Manchester United after signing Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, per the Manchester Evening News. The Red Devils have been linked with signing a new out-and-out forward but have thus far not seen progress with sales required to bolster their transfer funds. ‌ The club's plans were stalled when Liam Delap chose to sign for Chelsea instead of moving to Old Trafford. Nevertheless, Ruben Amorim is pleased with how his squad is shaping up. United have not ruled out a move for a new goalscorer however and are assessing what is feasible in the coming weeks. Sales are said to be 'essential' despite being provided some financial headroom by Marcus Rashford's loan move.

New Celtic star opens up on being compared to Zlatan Ibrahimovic aged just 16 – and how he recovered from early setback

So Benjamin Nygren could easily have allowed those comparisons with Sweden superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic to keep him awake at night. The new Celtic midfielder was just 16, and in first team at Gothenburg, when his coach told the world he was more advanced than the legendary Ibra was at the same age. Yet there was never any danger of Nygren's ego getting out of control. He said: 'Yeah, I noticed those stories. But I always just tried to focus on my football. I made my debut at 16, but it wasn't until I was 17 that I started to do well. 'I just started to have focus. When I was younger, I always had big dreams. 'That was to play for the Swedish national team and play in the biggest competitions for both my country and club. 'I have always had that dream. And that's the thing I am chasing every day. 'I am working as hard as I can to go as far as possible. I was at high school at the time of my debut. 'It was a huge thing, of course, but I always had that view in front of me when I was a young kid. I think most kids who play football have the same dream. 'But when I was very young I had a clear view that I wanted to be a professional football player. Shock scenes as Celtic and Ajax fans clash during Como Cup friendly tournament in Italy 'When anyone asked me what I wanted to be I would always say a professional football player. 'They would then say, 'But what if you don't become a football player?'. 'But I would reply, 'I WILL become a football player'. 'I've always had that focus and clear view in front of me and have been working so hard from a young age to fulfil it — I knew I could do it.' Nygren, 24, knows having that same single-mindedness is vital if he's to be successful at Celts. In his opinion, it's impossible to make the grade at the highest level of sport without it. He added: 'I agree. For me, mindset is one of the biggest parts of being in sports in general. That's all sports, including football. 'Maybe at 16 I had a good mental focus. But I have also learned a lot in the eight years since then, and that includes the ups and the downs. 'It's been very healthy. Everyone who is in sports knows how important the mental part is. 'Of course, you need to put in the work also. But focus is really important.' Nygren hasn't had it all his own way. He joined Belgian side Genk for £4.5million after less than 20 top-team appearances for Gothenburg. But things didn't work out as well as he hoped. There was a loan spell in the Netherlands with Heerenveen, before Nordsjaelland snapped him up. It was there that he got back on track, with the Hoops pouncing when they realised he was out of contact at the end of this year and available at a cut-price fee of around £1.7m. Nygren said: 'I have learned a lot through the years. That first time I played in front of a big audience was in Gothenburg when I was 16. 'That's a club which also has a lot of fans and very good fans. I had a really good relationship with them. 'I have played in front of big crowds many times, even though I am still pretty young. I've learned a lot during my years.' Nygren speaks with real confidence. But it's not to be confused with arrogance. It's just like he's got an older head on his young shoulders. Coming to the champions of Scotland doesn't seem to have fazed him in any way. He added: 'It's been very good so far. I've only got very good first impressions of everything, the staff, the players and the whole organisation — as well as the fans. 'It's been easy to settle in, and I've just tried to focus on my thing and showing my qualities and how good I am. 'I always feel confident of bringing that to all of the training sessions as well as the games I play. 'That's something I want to show so it's been really good and I am happy to be here.' Nygren is also close friends with fellow Swedish international Jordan Larsson — the son of a certain Hoops legend Henrik. He said: 'The last time I spoke with Jordan was when we were away with the national team a month ago. 'Of course, I know about his dad — the King of Kings, right? 'I have seen many YouTube clips of him scoring a lot of goals for Celtic. 'I haven't met Henrik, but Jordan is an amazing guy and he is also doing very well in his football career.' Copenhagen striker Larsson has been linked with Celts down the years, mainly because of the family connection. Nygren added: 'Yeah, and it's never too late, you know! 'But that's not my job. That's for the sporting director.' 3 Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page
