'I fell in love with the name and the colours'
Dennice: It was 1997 and the Premier League had just come to Ugandan TV screens. There was this game between Aston Villa and Liverpool. It must have been a Villa home game because firstly it was the colours that I fell in love with. Then the name itself was magical! I was already a fan of SC Villa, who got their name from Aston Villa apparently too. The name Aston Villa and our colours...it was love at first sight!By the way, we won that game 2-1.

Arsenal transfer news: Eberechi Eze statement made as fresh Rodrygo stance emerges
Arsenal want to make Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze their seventh signing of the summer transfer window, having already spent £195million ahead of the 2025-26 season Eight days to go, one pre-season friendly left. The new Premier League season is almost here for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta. Next Sunday, the Gunners will walk out at Old Trafford to face Manchester United and begin a campaign which could define an era. Arteta's project has seen progress but no trophies and their £195million worth of new signings have been brought in to change that. Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera and Viktor Gyokeres have already given Arteta's squad a fresh look. But the Gunners aren't done there, as new sporting director Andrea Berta works hard to get players both in and out. Here's a round-up of the latest transfer news from the Emirates. Palace boss makes statement on Eze Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has confirmed that Eberechi Eze will 'definitely' play in Sunday's Community Shield match against Liverpool. Eze's future is under the microscope amid concrete interest from Arsenal while Tottenham have also been linked with a move after James Maddison suffered an ACL injury. Glasner was asked during his pre-match press conference whether the 27-year-old would still be a Palace player beyond transfer deadline day, and he was only able to give a guarantee for Sunday. "He will play on Sunday, definitely." the Eagles boss replied. Arsenal's one condition for signing Rodrygo Arsenal retain an interest in Real Madrid star Rodrygo - but will only sign him on loan. Rodrygo, 24, doesn't appear to be in new manager Xabi Alonso's plans at the Bernabeu and has been frequently linked with a move away. The Times report that Arsenal are keeping tabs on the Brazilian's situation but would only consider a loan deal. Rodrygo is under contract until 2028. Kiwior wants to explore exit options Jakub Kiwior is interested in leaving Arsenal for a club who'd guarantee him regular game time. Since joining the Gunners from Italian side Spezia in January 2023, Poland international Kiwior largely been a stopgap for his injured team-mates. The 25-year-old enjoyed a solid run of starts in the spring following Gabriel Magalhaes' season-ending injury and was the subject of interest from Porto, whose £26m bid was rejected by Arsenal. But that might not be the end of interest in Kiwior, as the Athletic report that he's keen to explore opportunities with clubs where he'd be considered a first-choice player.

Lions-Falcons game halted after Morice Norris Jr. removed in ambulance
August 9 - The preseason game between the Detroit Lions and host Atlanta Falcons on Friday night was suspended in the fourth quarter after Lions safety Morice Norris Jr. was taken off the field in an ambulance following a hit to the head. On the first play of the fourth quarter, Falcons running Nathan Carter took a handoff and got into the Detroit secondary. As Norris went in for the tackle, Carter's right knee hit Norris in the head. The second-year player immediately went to the turf and Lions trainers ran into the field. After being tended to, Norris was put in an ambulance and taken to an area hospital. On the ensuing play, Falcons quarterback Emory Jones took the snap and then walked to the middle of the field, where players from both teams formed a circle and prayed. The clock continued running with no more plays run, and officials eventually called the game. The Lions won the game 17-10. Norris appeared in two games for the Lions last year after signing as an undrafted free agent. He was in on one play on defense and 32 plays on special teams. He played two seasons at Fresno State (2022-23) after spending two seasons in junior college.
