Malaysia Yields RM4.675 Bln In Potential Exports, Investments From French Trade Mission
KUALA LUMPUR, July 6 (Bernama) -- Malaysia has successfully yielded RM4 billion in potential investments and RM675 million in potential exports in the trade and investment mission led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to France on July 4, 2025.
In a statement today, the Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI) said Anwar met 40 representatives from France's industrial sector, with several companies expressing intention to invest in high-tech manufacturing, aerospace, renewable energy, tourism and hospitality, digital economy and sustainable infrastructure.
'As for potential exports, RM675 million was generated for high-impact sectors such as aerospace, automotive, renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, digital economy, lifestyle and halal industries.
'These are sectors targeted under the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) and the Green Investment Strategy,' it said.
MITI said companies also shared their intention to continue investing in Malaysia, driven by key factors such as a conducive, stable and dynamic investment ecosystem; encouraging global demand for Malaysian-made products; efficient domestic supply chains; a highly skilled workforce; and investor-friendly government policies.
The mission delegation also included MITI Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz and representatives from Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE).
Tengku Zafrul said the mission's overall success reflected foreign companies' continued confidence in Malaysia's investor-friendly policies, supply chain ecosystem, competitiveness and economic growth potential.
'The investment and trade potential to be realised will also provide business opportunities for local companies, including small and medium enterprises, and more high-paying jobs for Malaysians.
'All these are key in driving our MADANI economic transformation agenda,' he said.

KLUANG — The development of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) is expected to benefit not only areas surrounding Johor Bahru but also be felt across all 10 districts in the state, said Johor Chief Minister Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi. 'Bit by bit, areas surrounding JS-SEZ are beginning to experience the spillover effects of development. For example, the areas of Simpang Renggam and Renggam in Kluang are already seeing its impact. This progress will gradually expand to other districts. 'If Seremban is known as a satellite city to the Klang Valley, we expect Kluang to become one of the main satellite cities as a result of the JS-SEZ development,' he said at the launch of the Majestic Johor x Renggam Fiesta at Tunku Mahkota Ismail Youth Centre (TMIYC) Renggam today. The JS-SEZ covers major development zones such as Iskandar Malaysia, Forest City, the Pengerang Integrated Petroleum Complex, and Desaru, with a total land area of approximately 357,128 hectares. The Iskandar Malaysia region also includes strategic areas such as Johor Bahru City Centre, Iskandar Puteri, Tanjung Pelepas–Tanjung Bin, Pasir Gudang, Senai–Skudai, and Sedenak. Further commenting, Onn Hafiz said that rapid development in the transport sector would also support connections between districts and the JS-SEZ, including the Johor Bahru–Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link Project and the Gemas–Johor Bahru Double Track Electrified Project. (Photo Credit Yonhap) SEOUL, July 6 (Bernama-Yonhap) -- A special counsel sought a warrant on Sunday to arrest former President Yoon Suk Yeol over allegations related to his declaration of martial law, Yonhap News Agency reported. The independent counsel, led by Cho Eun-suk, filed an arrest warrant request with the Seoul Central District Court against Yoon for alleged abuse of power, falsification of official documents, violation of the Presidential Security Act and obstruction of special official duties, among other charges, in connection with his declaration of martial law on Dec 3, according to officials from the counsel team. The specific reasons for the warrant request were not disclosed. bootstrap slideshow The counsel has conducted an intensive investigation into Yoon over insurrection and other charges since its launch last month. Most recently, Yoon was summoned and underwent several hours of questioning on Saturday. Yoon has completely denied the allegations during in-person interrogations, raising concerns about possible destruction of evidence or collusion with accomplices, according to the officials. Yoon is alleged to have attempted to block investigators from executing a court warrant to detain him in January. He is also suspected of directing the Presidential Security Service to delete records from secure phones used by several military commanders following his failed martial law bid. The investigation has further focused on suspicions that Yoon had hastily convened a Cabinet meeting on the night of the martial law declaration to meet the quorum required to enforce the decree. The treason charge, however, was not included in the warrant. The former president is alleged to have ordered a military drone operations unit to deploy drones over Pyongyang to fabricate a justification for declaring martial law.
