The mixed result came on the third day of deliberations. It could still send Combs, 55, to prison for as long as a decade, and is likely to end his career as a hitmaking music executive, fashion entrepreneur, brand ambassador and reality TV star.
The foreperson confirmed the verdict reached was unanimous.
After they read the verdict, Combs held his hands up in a prayer motion, looking at jury and hugged his defence lawyer Teny Geragos.
Combs was convicted of flying people around the country, including his girlfriends and paid male sex workers, to engage in sexual encounters, a felony violation of the federal Mann Act.

But the jury of eight men and four women acquitted Combs of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges, related to allegations that he used his money, power and frightening physical force to manipulate his girlfriends into hundreds of drug-fuelled sex marathons with the men.

Mexican ex-world champion boxer Julio Cesar Chavez Jnr arrested by US immigration
Mexican boxer Julio Cesar Chavez Jnr has been arrested by US immigration officers and faces deportation from the United States, the US Department of Homeland Security said Thursday. Chavez, a former world champion and the son of legendary Mexican fighter Julio Cesar Chavez, was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in Los Angeles on Wednesday after authorities determined that he was in the country illegally, Homeland Security said in a statement. Homeland Security, which oversees ICE, said the 39-year-old fighter has 'an active arrest warrant in Mexico for his involvement in organised crime and trafficking firearms, ammunition and explosives'. The Mexican public prosecutor's office said in a statement later on Thursday that Mexico had issued an arrest warrant for Chavez in 2023 'for organised crime and arms trafficking'. US authorities informed Mexico that they have begun the procedure to send him home, it added. Homeland Security said Chavez is believed to have ties to the Sinaloa cartel, one of six Mexican drug trafficking groups designated as terrorist organisations by the United States. Michael Madsen, Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill star, dies at 67
Michael Madsen, whose menacing characters in Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill made him a stand-out in Quentin Tarantino's films, has died. He was 67. Madsen was found unresponsive in his home in Malibu, California, on Thursday morning and pronounced dead, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Watch Commander Christopher Jauregui said. He is believed to have died of natural causes and authorities do not suspect any foul play was involved. Madsen's manager Ron Smith said cardiac arrest was the apparent cause. Madsen's career spanned more than 300 credits stretching back to the early 1980s, many in low-budget films. But his most memorable screen moment may have been the sadistic torture of a captured police officer – while dancing to Stealers Wheel's 'Stuck in the Middle with You' – as Mr Blonde in 1992's Reservoir Dogs. He would become a Tarantino regular, appearing in the Kill Bill films and The Hateful Eight.
