South Korean actress-singer IU, aka Lee Ji Un, returned to music with the album Kkot-Galpi 3 (A Flower Bookmark 3). It is the third instalment of her popular cover series, where she reinterprets some beloved classics. She released the album on May 27, along with its title track, Never Ending Story, the reimagined version of BooHwal's legendary song.
To create more hype regarding her third remake album, IU dropped a new music video for A Beautiful Person, feat. Balming Tiger, a B-side track of Kkot-Galpi 3. The MV features a cameo of none other than the K-pop star and ASTRO member Cha Eun Woo. The 3-minute and 42-second-long video was released on IU's official YouTube channel on Wednesday, May 28.
A Beautiful Person, aka A Beauty, was originally written and composed by the legendary Korean rock artist Shin Jung Hyun and was one of the songs in his debut album. The single completely reinterpreted rock music in Korea back in the '70s. It was one of the biggest hits of Shin Jung Hyun's career and one of the best hits of the '70s.
The music video opens with the birth of two babies at a hospital, a boy born as a being of light and a girl shrouded in darkness. The MV captures various moments from their lives, from childhood to adulthood. While the boy is so bright and special that everyone around admires him, the girl, on the other hand, always remains in the shadows.
As the two grew older, the weight of being different became too much for both of them to handle. To fit in, the boy and the girl start to wear masks to hide their true self. One day, the boy coincidentally meets the girl, who, just like him, hides her identity behind a mask. Without saying much, the two form a deep bond. Then comes the powerful moment on the rooftop, where both unmasked themselves and embraced their true selves. The boy was played by Cha Eun Woo, and the girl by IU. In no time, the music video caught attention online, and fans started praising the concept behind it.
The new album marks her return to the Kkot-Galpi series after eight years. Back in 2017, IU released Kkot-Galpi 2. Other tracks in the album are Never Ending Story, Red Sneakers, October 4th, and Last Scene (Feat. Wonstein), among others.

Kim Soo Hyun-starrer My Love from the Star to re-release globally amid Kim Sae Ron controversy

Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun continues to make headlines almost every day with the never-ending controversy around his involvement in late actor Kim Sae Ron's life. The actor previously admitted to dating the late actor, but several allegations have been raised by Sae Ron's family which the actor and his agency have rejected so far. Amid this, reports about his hit K-drama, My Love from the Star re-releasing in countries have surfaced. The K-drama will be making its debut in South America, Brazil, as per multiple reports. It will be broadcast on SBT, starting June 9. The show is said to be a part of the network's recently introduced Asian content block. It is set to air in Brazil for the first time, more than a decade after its original release in South Korea. SBT attributed the premiere to a growing appetite for Korean content among viewers in Brazil, which has seen a sharp rise in recent years, much like everywhere else in the world. Besides Brazil, the show will be reportedly re-airing in Taiwan where several fans previously came out in support of the actor amid reports about his relationship with Kim Sae Ron. In Taiwan, it will be released on Korea Entertainment TV. Its comeback amid the controversy is likely to benefit the ratings, especially in a time when Kim Soo Hyun is dealing with setbacks at work due to the controversy. My Love from the Star was originally released in 2013 on SBS) from December 18, 2013, to February 27, 2014. It has 21 episodes. It revolves around the story of an alien who landed on Earth in 1609 during the Joseon Dynasty. As he stays back, 400 years later he falls in love with a popular actor. The show is originally inspired by historical records from the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty dating to autumn 1609, when residents reported sightings of unidentified flying objects across the Korean peninsula. The K-drama is backed by Choi Moon Suk and Moon Bo Mi. The show was met with an average nationwide television viewership rating of 24 per cent in South Korea and is considered one of the cult K-dramas that contributed to spreading the Hallyu wave.

'Good Boy' review: Park Bo-gum's action-comedy lands strong punches with flair, fun characters, and knockout energy

'Good Boy' is the kind of show that winks at you right from the start. It knows it's here to entertain – and so far, it's doing a pretty good job of it. This new South Korean action-comedy series, written by Lee Dae-il and directed by Shim Na-yeon, brings together a pretty exciting mix of things: former sports stars turned police officers, stylish action sequences, and just the right dash of heart and humor. The cast? A total treat – Park Bo-gum, Kim So-hyun, Oh Jung-se, Lee Sang-yi, Heo Sung-tae, and Tae Won-seok all bring something fun and fresh to the screen. The show premiered with some fanfare in Bangkok on May 31st, 2025, and is streaming across several platforms – Netflix, Disney+ (in South Korea), and Amazon Prime Video globally. So, yes, it's accessible and buzz-worthy. But is it worth diving into? Based on the first two episodes, we'd say yes – with some cautious optimism. Let's start with the tone. 'Good Boy' doesn't try to be mysterious or overly serious. It sets out to be fun and succeeds. The plot centres around five former athletes who, for various reasons, leave behind their sports careers and end up as part of a special crime-fighting police unit. It's a bit of a stretch conceptually, sure, but it's played with such charm that you're happy to go along for the ride. You don't actually see much of their sports pasts until the final stretch of episode one, which honestly turns out to be a great little payoff. Up until then, you're getting to know them as quirky, flawed, but very likable characters adjusting to their new lives. And when the action kicks in? It's worth the wait. Park Bo-gum, fresh off the international success of 'When Life Gives You Tangerines', slides effortlessly into this new, very different role. It might seem hard to top that last hit, but to be fair, 'Good Boy' isn't trying to top it – it's doing its own thing. Here, Bo-gum plays a boxer-turned-cop, and he's got the charm and physicality to make it believable. His scenes, especially the ones in motion, are shot beautifully. The camera work during action sequences – particularly with Bo-gum and Lee Sang-yi, who plays a former fencer – is sharp, fluid, and engaging. You feel like you're in the middle of it with them, catching every punch, lunge, and fall. Kim So-hyun holding a massive gun wasn't on anyone's 2025 bingo card, but hey – we love surprises. While her sport didn't exactly prep her for close combat, she still pulls off her action moments with a steady hand and some fierce energy. It's nice to see her stepping into such a strong, confident role, even if we haven't seen the full range of her abilities just yet. One moment that absolutely deserves a shoutout is from Shin Jae-hong – the gentle giant of the squad – who nails a sewer lid throw (yes, really) with all the flair of an Olympic shot-putter. It's one of those scenes that makes you sit up, grin, and go, 'Okay, now this is fun.' The last part of episode one, where we finally see all five characters tap into their athletic sides, is a total visual treat. And let's talk music. American artist MAX, known for his work with BTS's Suga and Le Sserafim's Huh Yun-jin, lends his voice to the main OST, 'Get In The Ring'. It's punchy, upbeat, and matches the vibe of the show perfectly. Using it during the climax of episode one was a smart move – it felt like the show officially entered the ring, pun absolutely intended. While the main trio – Bo-gum, Sang-yi, and So-hyun – are clearly in the spotlight, there's genuine excitement around the rest of the cast. Oh Jung-se, Heo Sung-tae, and Tae Won-seok haven't had their big moments yet, but knowing their range and past performances, we're betting they'll deliver soon. So, two episodes in, 'Good Boy' isn't trying to reinvent the wheel. But it's rolling along smoothly on good writing, great chemistry, fun action, and lots of promise. There's plenty of room for growth, and we're holding onto the benefit of the doubt that the best is yet to come. If you're looking for a show that's light, stylish, funny, and packed with heart – this just might be your next favorite watch.

The report came out on June 2 and revealed that she had filed for a court auction earlier in April. Allegedly according to the reports, the actress revealed that her landlord had refused to give her back the total sum from the key money deposit she made. The actress had been renting a villa in Gangnam, Seoul, whose landlord has refused to return her deposit. According to the key money deposit system that is extremely popular in Korea, the person wanting to live in a property gives a large percentage of the property's total value to the owner. This money is 'loaned' to the owner, who has to return the total sum once the contract is up. According to the reports, evidence from the Supreme Court showed that the actress had submitted the deposit amount back in April 2020. She had initially submitted 2.5 billion KRW to the landlord. The contract was renewed two years later, where the actress had also submitted the difference according to the increased deposit of 2.65 billion KRW. Seo Hyun Jin had registered her leaseholder's rights, yet still after the lease expired last year, the homeowner of the villa refused to rightfully return the deposits she had made. Actress forced to apply for court auction After the amount was not returned to her for quite some time, the actress refused to back out and instead applied for a court auction. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The initial bid for the villa started off at 3 billion KRW; however, when no buyers showed interest, the actress reduced the price to 2.30 billion KRW. The current bidding amount is much lower than what the actress has paid, indicating that she may not be able to recover all of her funds from the house.
