787-8 aircraft en route to London Gatwick, crashed into a medical hostel complex shortly after take off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The aircraft burst into flames, killing 241 out of 242 people onboard and 19 individuals on the ground, including four medical students.
"We visited the crash site and spoke with some of the individuals who were there. We were able to take some photographs and get a feeling of the size of the scene. We met families from the UK and India, and they all expressed their burning desire for answers, for transparency and information," said Andrews.
According to his media team, the majority of those 65 families from India and UK hail from Gujarat and neighbouring Diu.
"We currently represent 65 families who are citizens of both India and the UK. Legal options are based on the data and what investigations reveal. It will give us an idea which entity may or may not be responsible. If Boeing is found to be responsible for this crash, we anticipate the cases will be filed in the Federal court in the US," said Andrews.
He asserted the best place to hold companies accountable is in the USA using product liability laws available there.
"The US legal system is set up in a way that an individual, a consumer or family, can stand on a level playing field with a multinational firm such as Boeing, look them in the eye and request accountability," he claimed.
"We don't know whose error was that. The allegation is that a switch was removed. A very small piece of information has been released from the cockpit voice recorder. What we don't know is the larger context, what other conversations were held between the pilots. Once we have data, we will know that," he added.
Andrews claimed a report suggesting pilot error in the crash was a "narrative typically originated from the manufacturer and its an attempt to deflect focus from their product".
When asked if Indian pilots are purposefully blamed in this case, he said, "Not just Indian pilots, more often than not, pilots who are dead are the ones who are blamed. In other incidents wherein planes landed safely, those pilots were not blamed, because those pilots can speak for themselves." He emphasised that until the data of the crash is made available, it is difficult to find out what exactly happened and whether something has been hidden intentionally.
"Families want data to be released to their attorneys and experts. We know Air India and the Indian government have this information. It is time to reveal that data so that experts can help families understand," he said.
From Vadodara, Andrews will travel to Surat and then to Diu to meet the families who have agreed to pursue the case.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has conducted 146 maintenance audits of major Indian airlines in 2025 (up to July), Civil Aviation MoS Murlidhar Mohol informed the Lok Sabha on Thursday. Responding to a question raised by Congress MP Murari Lal Meena regarding aircraft maintenance oversight, the minister said the DGCA follows a 'structured surveillance and audit framework," comprising regular and spot audits, night surveillance, and ramp inspections to ensure aircraft safety. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has a structured surveillance and audit framework in place, i.e. planned and unplanned surveillance of organisations/aircraft, which includes regular and periodic audits, spot checks, night Surveillance and ramp inspections across all operators, including continuous oversight of maintenance practices, the minister said in response to the question. The Annual Surveillance Plan (ASP) for the year is prepared in advance, and the audits are conducted in a timely manner as per the Annual Surveillance Plan. The DGCA adheres to an audit calendar to ensure continuous oversight of all scheduled and non-scheduled airline/operators. Any deviation or rescheduling is addressed with urgency and reported accordingly, the minister added. Notably, Tata SIA Airlines Ltd (Vistara) had not undergone any audits in 2025 up to July, though it saw 35 audits in 2024. From 2023 to July 2025, the DGCA conducted a total of 683 maintenance audits of scheduled carriers, reflecting a steady oversight mechanism despite growing concerns over aircraft safety in recent months. The minister also addressed the June 12, 2025, Air India AI-171 accident in Ahmedabad, stating that a formal investigation is underway by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB). A preliminary report has been published, but it does not assign blame or confirm causes. Mohol emphasised that the government does not endorse speculative conclusions, especially by foreign media, which may harm the dignity and morale of Indian pilots. 'All investigations under Indian rules are impartial, aiming solely to prevent future accidents," he said. The meeting will be held in Alaska, which Russia sold to the United States in 1867. The western tip of the state is not far -- just across the Bering Strait -- from the easternmost part of Russia. "Alaska and the Arctic are also where our countries' economic interests intersect, and there are prospects for large-scale, mutually beneficial projects," Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said in a statement on Telegram. "But, of course, the presidents themselves will undoubtedly focus on discussing options for achieving a long-term peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian crisis," he added. Ushakov also expressed hope that next time the two presidents would meet on Russian territory. "A corresponding invitation has already been sent to the US president," he added. The International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant for Putin -- which obligates members to detain the Russian leader if he visits their country -- had been thought to narrow the potential number of venues. Putin had previously mentioned the United Arab Emirates as a possible host for the talks, while media speculated Turkey, China or India could be possible venues. Will Zelensky be involved? Zelensky has been pushing to make it a three-way summit and has frequently said meeting Putin is the only way to make progress towards peace.
