Anne Hathaway's Verity has release date pushed back

Perth Now12-07-2025
Anne Hathaway's Verity has been delayed.
The Devil Wears Prada star appears in the upcoming adaptation of Colleen Hoover's best-selling thriller alongside the likes of Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett, and while it was due to hit screens on 15 May, 2026, fans will now have to wait longer because Amazon MGM Studios have pushed back the film - which is directed by Michael Showalter - until 2 October 2026.
Verity follows writer Lowen Ashleigh, who is given the chance to complete the last three novels in a beloved book series because author Verity Crawford has had to put her pen down due to medical reasons.
After moving into the famed writer's house to go over Verity's notes, Lowen discovers the author has been left largely unresponsive following a car accident, and also learns Verity's two twin daughters had died mere months after her near-fatal incident.
With these revelations swirling around her head, Lowen soon finds herself falling in love with Verity's husband Jeremy, and also stumbles across an autobiographical manuscript penned by the writer, which reveals dark secrets about the life of the author.
The movie is one of a number of Colleen's novels being adapted for the big screen following the popularity of a third, last year's It Ends With Us.
Maika Monroe was recently cast in Reminders of Him, for which the author has co-written the screenplay.
The film - which will be directed by Vanessa Caswill - follows Kenna Rowan, who returns to her hometown after serving five years in prison for a tragic accident hoping to reunite with her daughter - but faces resistance from those determined to keep her away.
As she forms an unexpected connection with Ledger Ward, a local bar owner, their growing bond threatens to upend the fragile trust of those around them, forcing Kenna to confront her past in pursuit of redemption and a second chance.
In addition, Regretting You will star Allison Williams, Scott Eastwood, Dave Franco, Mckenna Grace, Mason Thames and Willa Fitzgerald, and is an adaptation of the author's 2019 book of the same name.
The novel follows the turbulent relationship between Morgan Grant and her teenage daughter Clara and explores the themes of grief and first love.

New Addams Family animated feature film being developed

Wednesday creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are creating a new animated Addams Family feature film. The two showrunners of the Netflix series are developing an Addams Family reboot for Amazon MGM Studios which will be unconnected to Wednesday - which stars Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams - and the previous two animated films released in 2019 and 2021. Gough says his and Millar's inspiration is to honour the characters created by late American cartoonist Charles Addams, which were turned into a popular TV series in the mid-60s. Speaking on Deadline's Crew Call podcast, Gough said: "We're working on it with Amazon MGM and with Kevin Miserocchi who runs the Addams Foundation, he knew Charles Addams and the keeper of the Addams flame, and with Gail Berman and John Glickman. We're rebooting the animated film franchise. So it won't have anything to do with the two films before it, nor is it connected with this show. It will be a brand new Addams feature. There's not really much we can say about it, because it's in the very early stages.' The 1960s series about the macabre family - who first appeared in a cartoon strip in The New Yorker magazine - starred John Astin as patriarch Gomez Addams, Carolyn Jones as Gomez's wife Morticia Addams, Jackie Coogan as Uncle Fester, Ted Cassidy as Lurch, Lisa Loring as Wednesday Addams and Ken Weatherwax as Pugsley Addams. The Addams Family has also appeared in a 1973 animated series, a remake series which ran from 1992 to 1993 as well as several feature films, including Barry Sonnenfeld's 1991 live action movie.

Britt Ekland believes next Bond girl should be a 'natural beauty'

Britt Ekland believes the next Bond girl should be should be chosen for her "natural beauty". The hunt is currently on for a new James Bond to take over from Daniel Craig - who stepped down from the role after his fifth film No Time To Die in 2021 - after long-time producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson handed over control of the franchise to Amazon MGM Studios and The Man with the Golden Gun star Britt has now explained what the new Bond bosses need to look for in a female lead. She told The Times newspaper: "She should be attractive ... chosen for her natural beauty. And she should be athletic. "I think that's very important because the role generally involves running, jumping, a little bit of fighting. It involves moving your body." However, fellow former Bond girl Olga Kurylenko - who appeared opposite Craig in 2008's Quantum of Solace - told the publication choosing a new Bond girl has to be about more than just looks. She told the publication: "It's not just about the looks. What I see on Instagram is that girls are inspired to be as naked as they can be ... "A Bond girl doesn't take selfies. Her goal is thinking about strategy, about how she's going to complete her mission. "A Bond girl is witty, she's smart. She has her own agenda, she has a serious occupation, and that's what makes her sexy. It's not enough to just have an attractive face or a body if it's an empty vessel." It was recently suggested the James Bond franchise could return with an "origins" movie and a "very young" new star amid rumours 007 will be getting a massive shake-up with the character being taken back several decades. The rumour was shared by actor Daniel Mays who revealed he'd heard some details about what Amazon are planning for Bond. During an appearance on the We're Not Getting Any Younger podcast, he said: "Bond is a big deal right, that going to Amazon ... I heard a rumour they're going to cast someone very young and go sort of back to the origins. "They're going to sort of '60s, you're going to have all the retro cars and that sort of stuff - and start again. I think that would be kind of cool."

Australian actor spotted on-set of Devil Wears Prada sequel with Anne Hathaway

Australian actor Patrick Brammall has been spotted cosying up to Anne Hathaway on-set of Hollywood's most anticipated sequel. Two weeks after it was announced the award-winning local star would be playing Hathaway's love interest in The Devil Wears Prada 2, the duo were photographed filming romantic scenes in Brooklyn, New York. Little is known about Brammall's character, though he was dressed smart in a business suit while Hathaway slipped into a fabulous blue cocktail dress. The pair could be seen dancing, cuddling and kissing in the street as part of the scene. Interestingly, one of Hathaway's love interests in the first film was played by fellow Australian Simon Baker. The follow-up film comes almost two decades after the original premiered to critical and commercial acclaim in 2006. It followed journalist Andy Sachs (Hathaway), who was hired as the junior assistant to Meryl Streep's Miranda Priestley, the icy editor-in-chief of Runway magazine. Streep is also returning for the sequel, as well as Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt. Adrian Grenier, who played Hathaway's boyfriend Nate Cooper, will not be reprising his role. Brammall's involvement in the movie heralds his first major Hollywood production of this calibre, with the comedic actor working largely in local television over the years, including roles on Home and Away, All Saints, Offspring and Glitch. More recently, Brammall created and starred in Binge's comedy Colin From Accounts alongside his wife and collaborator, Harriet Dyer. The beloved show was recently renewed for a third season. Since it premiered in 2022, the show has gone on to experience global success. It's now licensed to over 150 territories around the world, including on Paramount+ in the US and the BBC in the UK. Last month, the series also scored a nomination at the BAFTA TV Awards in the International category. Off-screen, Brammall and Dyer welcomed their second child, daughter Mabel, in February. They previously welcomed their first child via adoption, daughter Joni, in September 2021. Meanwhile, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is scheduled for a May 2026 release.
