When Caitlin Murray sat down to chat with SheKnows Editor-in-Chief Erika Janes, she was just as honest and funny one-on-one as she is when she is talking to her 1.8 million Instagram followers. Murray — who you might also know as the comedic genius behind 'Big Time Adulting' — is a parenting influencer and mom of three who is just trying to make it through May.
And aren't we all? I think the masses (or, at least the moms who bear the mental load of parenting) have agreed that May can be the worst. 'It's more stressful than the holiday season,' Murray said of the time period that has been cleverly coined 'Maycember.' There are proms and graduations and end-of-the-school-year celebrations, and, for Murray, the joys of juggling multiple extracurricular schedules.

Are you feeling the agita just thinking about that? It's why she partnered with Prego for their PreGOseason Meal Kit Giveaway. Through May 20, 100 lucky (and probably burnt out) winners will receive a meal kit with everything they need to make dinner, plus a $100 Taskrabbit credit to help them check something off their to-do list.
'Since dinner time is typically one of the main areas of pain in my life, I cannot stand thinking about what to make for dinner all day, every day,' Murray says. Especially during such a stressful time of year.
A stressful time of year that, sadly, houses Mother's Day. Why couldn't moms get a more relaxing month to celebrate their hard work, huh? It feels like a cruel metaphor. It's yet another shindig that moms have to stress over, and the 'post-Mother's Day letdown' is hard.
And so Murray does things a little unconventionally. Instead of waiting with bated breath for an elaborate surprise, she takes 'a pretty prominent role' in the Mother's Day plans so she can 'protect against disappointment.'
'I'm like, 'This is how I want the day to go,'' she says, before explaining that she also has her son's birthday coming up, her own mother coming to town, and her mother-in-law to consider too. 'So, you're trying to relax and enjoy your day, but it also ends up being about honoring the mothers around you, too.'
'It's almost ceremonial in a way,' she continues. 'You almost need to set aside a different day to take for yourself to make that your Mother's Day and just go through the motions of Mother's Day [with] lower expectations.'
Murray learned about lowering her Mother's Day expectations after her first Mother's Day. 'I was so disappointed,' she tells SheKnows. ' … Your first year of motherhood, especially, is just so treacherous. You [and your body] have gone through so much. You're learning this whole new skill for the first time, much to, you know, maybe the disappointment of society thinking that we all know exactly what we're doing because we're women.'
But that's not the case. First-time moms, just like anyone trying to learn something new, are in the trenches working their butts off to figure it out. 'And then it's just like, 'Here's flowers,'' Murray says. ' … It feels so belittling, almost. I think that's the problem. It's like we're trying to pack in the acknowledgement of mothers for one day through one tiny celebration.'
*cue well-deserved standing ovation*
Flowers, while appreciated, just won't cut it. They don't properly show the gratitude necessary for all the hard work and selflessness that moms put in on a daily basis. Frankly, it's unlikely that any Mother's Day present or celebration ever will. And so we love Murray's advice to (unfortunately) lower your expectations and pick a separate day — perhaps not in the most stressful month! — to be your honorary Mother's Day.
'I'll probably go out for like, a drink with my best girlfriends in the afternoon,' Murray says of her preferred Mother's Day. She and her friends can celebrate each other and relish in the fact that they hopefully don't have a soccer schedule to manage or a dinner to plan out. Cheers to that!
And if one of Murray's besties can't make it out to drinks, we have an idea of what funny text or card she might send them.
'I have written stuff like, 'I hope you have a great Mother's Day and there are enough mimosas to help you relax while all chaos unravels around you while you try to let go of control for the day,'' she says of her cards.
Not only will we be turning to that message for our own card-writing inspiration, but we will also be hoping the same for each of the moms and mother figures in our lives. We hope there are enough [insert treat of choice] to help them find some zen.

Leona and her pink kaftan conquer Merdeka 118 Tower
18 Aug - Social media influencer Leona has recently become the first woman to have ever conquered the Merdeka 118 Tower. The content creator, who is also the daughter of actor Azhar Sulaiman, did so as a part of a challenge hosted by radio station ERA; where two of its "3 Pagi" show presenters Nabil Ahmad and Radin climbed up the 2,845 steps to the top of the tower. Joining the two presenters were Leona and Muar MP Syed Saddiq. Not only was she the only woman in the group of men, Leona climbed the tower while wearing a pink kaftan. "Leona is truly powerful," the caption on ERA's official Instagram post read. On the other hand, Leona seemed to be taking her achievement in a very relaxed and unserious fashion, as she commented, "Next, ERA will host a special segment for me, right?" Michael Franti denies abuse allegations after Soulshine cruise canceled
Spearhead frontman Michael Franti has denied allegations of grooming and sexual abuse, but acknowledged a romantic relationship outside his marriage with an artist he worked with. The revelations coincided with the cancellation of his annual Soulshine at Sea concert cruise. 'I'm aware of the recent posts this artist made about our relationship, and while I support her need to express herself publicly, the relationship was completely consensual, based on mutual feelings and attraction,' Franti wrote in a statement on Sunday, Aug. 17. 'I vehemently dispute any version of the story that says otherwise.' The Oakland-born musician, a regular attraction at local festivals such as BottleRock Napa Valley and Stern Grove, added: 'I will, however, take full accountability for not better recognizing the power imbalance — as she was younger than me, and I was the headliner on tour. For those reasons alone, I never should have allowed the relationship to become romantic.' Franti's statement followed mounting scrutiny after singer-songwriter Victoria Canal alleged in an Instagram post that she had been groomed and sexually abused by a much older, 'very powerful' man in the music industry when she was 19. Canal did not name Franti, but she has previously credited him with discovering her on Instagram in 2018, when she was 19, and inviting her on tour. 'This is something I've never spoken about publicly, and have been holding for eight years now — it has plagued my body, spirit, and mind, in subliminal and overt ways, for my entire 20s,' Canal wrote on Aug. 11, her 27th birthday. She described the man as 'loving, charismatic, and principled' in public, but controlling and abusive in private. 'Behind closed doors, this person has a history of incredibly damaging behavior across the board, and has a team of enablers around him who have fiercely protected his image, perpetuating this behavior for decades,' she wrote. Canal also alleged that he touched and photographed her without consent. 'These behaviors progressed over a year, slowly keeping me more isolated in a highly unfamiliar and contained environment,' Canal wrote. 'At the time, this person made me believe that if I ever told anyone what he was doing, my career would be over before it started.' In the wake of Canal's disclosure, several artists — including ALO, Dispatch, Maggie Rose, Liz Vice and Tank and the Bangas — announced they would no longer participate in the Soulshine at Sea, citing 'deeply concerning allegations.' 'We are actively working to announce a new event that will sail November 4-8, 2025,' the company said, offering ticket holders refunds or future credits.

Pete Davidson says he feels ‘guilty' his girlfriend can't have an ‘ideal pregnancy' because of his fame
Pete Davidson feels guilty that his pregnant girlfriend is navigating their big new life chapter under the media spotlight. Last month, the Saturday Night Live alum, 31, and his girlfriend, Elsie Hewitt, 29, posted a photo of a sonogram on Instagram to indicate that they were expecting their first child together. But in a recent on The Breakfast Club, Davidson admitted that certain aspects should have been kept private. 'I feel bad for my girl because I bring a lot of s***,' the comedian said on the iHeart Radio show. 'Anything I do or she does now is gonna be a thing.' He continued, saying how pregnancy isn't meant to be a super public experience, but due to how famous he is, a private pregnancy is near impossible. 'She's a very private person, and she's the one doing all the work,' Davidson said. 'It's supposed to be a beautiful experience.' Despite his guilt toward the situation, he says Hewitt hasn't held any resentment toward him over it. 'She's never made me feel this way or said anything,' he said, 'But I feel so guilty and horrible that I could not allow her to have the ideal pregnancy that almost every woman gets to have and enjoy.' The two announced that Hewitt was pregnant last month in an Instagram post with a caption that read, 'welp now everyone knows we had sex.' The carousel featured Hewitt receiving an ultrasound at a doctor's appointment, a sonogram of the baby, and multiple photos of her and Davidson. Hewitt is due in early winter, according to Page Six. Saturday Night Live alum Davidson went public with his romance with Hewitt, a model, in March while the two were on vacation in Florida. A source told The Independent at the time that Davidson and Dewitt only recently started seeing each other, but did not give details on when or how they met. The couple was reportedly looking to move in together by May. She then attended his stand-up comedy show in June, Page Six reported. Before her relationship with Davidson, Hewitt was romantically linked to Benny Blanco, who's now engaged to Selena Gomez. The former couple first started dating in 2019, after Hewitt appeared in the music video for Blanco and the late Juice WRLD's song, 'Graduation.' Meanwhile, Davidson ended his romance with Outer Banks star Madelyn Cline in 2024, months before he started dating Hewitt. He's had many famous girlfriends in the past, including Kim Kardashian, Kaia Gerber, Chase Sui Wonders, Phoebe Dynevor, and Kate Beckinsale. Davidson was also engaged to Ariana Grande for four months before they ended their relationship in 2018.
