Phaedra Parks explains why she returned to ‘RHOA' after it ‘took a dip' — and teases an ‘explosive reunion'
She's got her peach back.
Phaedra Parks spilled all the details about her upcoming return to 'The Real Housewives of Atlanta,' which debuts Sunday at 9 p.m. ET., in an exclusive interview with The Post.
'We've been talking about it for some time, but it needed to be the right moment for me and for my family,' the mom of two said of coming back to the Bravo show after a six-season hiatus.

'Porsha [Williams] basically called me as well, like, 'Hey, would you consider it?' And I love Porsha. Frick and Frack is always fun, always about friendship,' Parks explained. 'That really made me really think about it seriously.'

'So it's been a wonderful return because it was like going home, like riding a bike,' she added, while promoting her collaboration with Cheez-It Snap'd to introduce the limited-edition Cheez-It Snap'd Back Bag. 'I just got back on and got right in the swing of things. And I just think it's gonna be a very amazing season.'
Parks, who makes her official return to the show on Sunday's episode, told The Post she wasn't nervous about joining the rest of the ladies so late into the season.

'You know what, I'm pretty courageous,' she said. 'Living people ain't gonna scare me if the dead didn't scare me.'

The mortician went on, 'It felt so good to be back where I started. It feels good to hopefully be a part of the resurgence of the 'Housewives' because, you know, they took a dip. So hopefully we can bring them back to stellar status. Obviously it's very nostalgic for people who have watched me have both of my sons on television to now see them as tweens.'

The reality star said that the mix of veteran Housewives and newbies in the Season 16 cast makes for 'the best formula' for the show.

'I think you have to revamp it just to refresh the brand. But at the same time, 'Housewives' has always been about nostalgia,' Parks noted. 'People tuning in to see people they grew up with and the Housewives that they love.'

'So yeah, I think when you are going to revamp it, you've got to mix the old with the new,' she added. 'You're coming back to see people that you are very familiar with, but you're getting a little splash of fresh people and ideas.'
While the Season 16 reunion hasn't filmed yet, Parks predicts the get-together will be 'explosive.'
'I think a lot of people are gonna be in the hot seat — including myself,' she said.

'People love to try to put my feet to the fire. So, you know I'm ready. I stay ready so I don't have to get ready,' Parks stated. 'So yeah, let's do it.'
Now that she's back on 'RHOA,' Parks told The Post that she's 'definitely there for the long-haul.'

'I am loyal to who's loyal to me. I love NBCUniversal, Peacock, and they've been great to me,' she said. 'And so I will definitely be great to them.'

SARATOGA SPRINGS — At 15-1 odds, Crudo is a long shot to outrun Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty and Preakness champion Journalism to the wire in Saturday's Belmont Stakes at Saratoga. One could argue, however, that this outcome would be no more of a surprise than the circumstances that led Crudo into the Triple Crown race in the first place for owners Bobby Flay and Jimmy Ventura and Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher. 'Jimmy and I were going to buy him as a pinhook proposition — we bought him as a weanling and we were going to sell him as a yearling. We brought him to the Saratoga [Fasig-Tipton] sale, and he didn't sell, so we kept him,' Flay, the chef, restaurant magnate and Food Network star told The Post early Friday morning before visiting Crudo. 'I don't usually race colts. I usually race fillies only. But I have him, so he's racing, and he's turned out to have talent,' Flay continued. The Belmont Stakes has long been a staple of Flay's social calendar. 'I go to the Belmont every year. I usually take 20-30 people to Belmont Park and make a day out of it,' Flay said. 'It's become a tradition where I have people over to my house for brunch, everyone comes dressed in their racing gear — suits, summer dresses, hats. I feed them in the morning and then put everyone in cars and we go to Belmont and we have a day.' He said those nights usually end with a group dinner at Wolfgang's Steakhouse on 33rd Street. But Saturday, the stakes will be much higher. On Preakness Day at Pimlico, in his third career start, Crudo won the Sir Barton Stakes by 7¹/₂ lengths. Pletcher, a four-time winner in the Belmont, gave the son of 2018 Triple Crown champion Justify a few weeks to breeze, considered other options and decided to give it a go in the $2 million race. 'The horse is here, he's doing well, I don't see a whole lot of pace in the race, we've got [jockey] John Velazquez available,' Pletcher said. 'I couldn't come up with a reason not to give it a try.' I liked the fact that it meant raw because he was such a young horse when we bought him and he had talent. 'I told Jimmy what I named him and he was like, 'Really?' He wasn't impressed,' Flay added about his partner, who is in commercial real estate and has been involved in horse racing for more than 30 years. 'Naming horses and naming restaurants. If they turn out to be good, the name makes perfect sense. It couldn't be anything else.' Flay spent much of his spring rooting on his beloved Knicks from the first few rows at Madison Square Garden. 'We were good then, but we kind of couldn't get past it. It was fun to watch those guys play this year. They're a really good team and, unfortunately, they lost to Indiana.' Flay said he was surprised at the firing of coach Tom Thibodeau. 'I am. I thought he did a good job. I mean, we beat the world champions. We beat the Celtics soundly,' he said. 'A couple things go different ways and you're in the Finals. I don't always think that new is a good idea, but it's not my team.' His team on Saturday is Crudo-Flay-Ventura-Pletcher. 'Both Bobby and Jimmy love horse racing. Bobby's been terrific to train for, for a number of years,' Pletcher said. 'He's knowledgeable and also always says, 'You can make the decision.' We've had some success together and these guys are fun to train for.'

Before the show's seventh season premiered June 3, fans of the show were in an uproar over resurfaced clips of her using a racial epithet on a podcast. But the 27-year-old Miami businesswoman had presumably already lost access to her phone during production in Fiji. Her exit was briefly mentioned in voiceover narration during the second episode on June 4. Now off the Peacock show, Escobar has addressed the social-media frenzy over her resurfaced comments. "First, I want to apologize for using a word I had no right in using. Podcast clips from years ago have recently resurfaced, and I want to address it directly," Escobar wrote in the caption of a June 6 Instagram post. "In those clips, I used a word I never should've used, a racial slur. I used it ignorantly, not fully understanding the weight, history, or pain behind it. I wasn't trying to be offensive or harmful, but I recognize now that intention doesn't excuse impact. And the impact of that word is real. It's tied to generations of trauma, and it is not mine to use." Escobar continued to explain, "I was speaking casually in conversation, not thinking deeply or critically about what I was saying. But that doesn't take away from how wrong it was. The truth is, I didn't know better then, but I do now. I've taken the time to reflect, to learn, and to grow from that moment." She said she has "changed a lot since then" and acknowledged, "Growth means recognizing when you were wrong, even if it's uncomfortable, and choosing to move forward with humility and accountability." She denounced statements from others that "don't reflect me or my heart" and shared, "I'm choosing to speak for myself because I take full ownership of my actions." Escobar ended the post with contrition, writing, "To those who are disappointed or offended, I understand and I apologize. I am sorry." Peacock has not responded to USA TODAY's request for comment on Escobar's departure. The show's only on-air acknowledgement that Escobar was no longer on the show was Iain Stirling mentioning around 20 minutes into Episode 2, "Yulissa has left the villa." It's over for Yolanda Hadid and Joseph Jingoli. The former 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' star, 61, and her longtime boyfriend quietly ended their engagement in January, a source told People on Thursday, June 5. However, the exes allegedly have no bad blood toward each other. 'They remain friends and have nothing but fond memories of their time together,' the insider said. The Post reached out to Hadid for comment but did not immediately hear back. The reality star alum, who is mother to supermodels Gigi and Bella Hadid, met Jingoli after she uprooted her life to Pennsylvania in 2017. Jingoli, who is the CEO of a construction and development company, popped the question in 2022 while the pair were away in Holland. They kept their engagement private until August 2024, when Hadid casually called him her 'fiancé' in her interview with Architectural Digest. 'I made a love spiral and wrote down exactly everything that was important to me in a man and he magically just rang the doorbell at the farm,' she told People in 2018. The pair first stepped out together in September 2019. Hadid also gushed over Jingoli in a tribute post for their anniversary in January 2021. ' All my life I prayed for someone like you!!' 'Over 20 years ago, our dad, while single, had a brief relationship that led to a pregnancy,' Gigi and Bella told the Daily Mail in a statement on May 29. Gigi and Bella explained that Nix was unaware that Mohamed was her father until recently. She discovered the news after the man she always knew as dad's 'sudden passing when she was 19.' The Hadid sisters explained that Nix 'decided to take a genetic test out of curiosity,' which led to the shocking discovery that she had 'a biological connection' to the famous family. But the girls welcomed her with open arms, allegedly first meeting Nix in Paris when she was studying abroad in 2024. 'We've cherished this unexpected and beautiful addition to our family,' Gigi and Bella continued, adding they are hoping everyone respects their half sister's privacy. 'As siblings, we've had many open and loving conversations — with Aydan included — about how to support and protect her,' they shared.
