
Apache CEO lauds Egypt's recent economic achievements
CAIRO – 17 February 2025: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met on Monday with Chief Executive Officer of American Apache Corporation, John J Christmann, on sidelines of the Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES) 2025.
Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the President was briefed on the American Company's views regarding its expansion plans in Egypt.
President Sisi expressed Egypt's appreciation of the size and scope of Apache Corporation's activities and investments in the country, as well as its significant contributions to the exploration and production operations of gas and petroleum.
This boosts this vital sector and enables it to play a fundamental role in economic development efforts by turning Egypt into a key hub for energy production and trade in the East Mediterranean. The President emphasized the crucial need to enhance Apache Corporation's activities and investments in Egypt to maximize the utilization of the country's resources.
Apache Corporation CEO, stressed that he valued meeting with the President and confirmed the importance of Apache Corporation's relations with Egypt within the framework of the company's programs at the international level.
He lauded the achievements Egypt has made recently in terms of economic growth, which was reflected in the continuous development in the field of energy production and diversification of its sources.
This is in addition to improving the country's infrastructure in general and the oil and gas sector in particular, as well as Egypt's expansion in regional cooperation projects to connect with the countries of the region, with the aim of transporting and liquefying gas, which will have a positive economic impact and return.

CAIRO, June 11 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi emphasized on Wednesday the need to accelerate the implementation of projects, monitor them regularly and ensure they are established in the best possible manner, with the aim of contributing to the development of assets and maximizing their benefit. He also stressed the importance of good governance in managing resources and assets according to the highest standards. The President directed that partnerships with the private sector should be strengthened, enabling it to play its role in supporting development. This came during a meeting held today between President Sisi and Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Eng. Sherif El-Sherbiny, Presidential Advisor for Urban Planning Gen. Amir Sayed Ahmed, and Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Gen. Ahmed El-Azazy. Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy stated that President Sisi was briefed during the meeting on the progress of projects being implemented under the first phase of the presidential initiative "Decent Life" for developing the Egyptian countryside—particularly the construction of water and sewage stations and networks in targeted villages. The President stressed the importance of completing these projects on schedule without delays. President Sisi also followed up on the implementation status of the strategic plan for seawater desalination. The Minister of Housing reviewed the state's efforts in this area since 2014, noting the establishment of desalination plants in the governorates of Marsa Matrouh, Beheira, South Sinai, Red Sea, Port Said, and Alexandria, as well as five related five-year plans extending to 2050. The President reviewed proposals for the operational mechanisms of desalination plants and the layout of water networks. He emphasized the need to enhance the efficiency of existing plants to maximize benefits and to ensure that ongoing projects are completed on time. He also called for a comprehensive vision for future needs and stressed the importance of localizing the industry related to desalination plant equipment. Furthermore, President Sisi reviewed the status of several developmental projects and urban development plans in the Northwestern Coast, aimed at increasing investment value and maximizing economic returns. This includes the project to develop and upgrade the Marina Tourist Center, the "Marina 8" project, the restoration of the Marina archaeological site, and the strategic plan for the West Ras El-Hekma region and New Alamein City. The President instructed that all constructions, facilities, and roads associated with these projects be completed within the set timeframe. The President also reviewed the status of projects being carried out by the Ministry of Housing. This included the offering of the tenth phase of the 'Beit El-Watan' initiative for Egyptians living abroad, and steps taken by the government to increase the number of available land plots to meet citizens' needs. OPEN// Sisi signs law regulating Islamic fatwas
CAIRO, June 10 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah El Sisi signed Law No. 86 of 2025 to regulate the issuance of Islamic fatwas. The law defines who can issue religious rulings. General fatwas, related to public matters, may only be issued by Al-Azhar's Council of Senior Scholars, the Islamic Research Academy, or Dar El-Ifta. Private fatwas may also be issued by the Al-Azhar Global Fatwa Center, authorized joint committees, and qualified imams from the Ministry of Awqaf (Endowments). OPEN// President Sisi signs law amending some provisions of House of Representatives Law
CAIRO, June 10 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi signed Law no. 85 of 2025, amending some provisions of the House of Representatives Law no. 46 of 2014, and Law no. 174 of 2020 regarding the division of electoral constituencies for the House of Representatives elections. The amendments stipulate that Egypt is to be divided into a number of constituencies designated for individual candidacy (individual-seat system) and four constituencies designated for the party-list system. As for the party-list system, it includes four list-based constituencies; two constituencies are allocated 40 seats each and two constituencies are allocated 102 seats each. Regarding requirements for electoral lists: each list must include the exact number of candidates matching the number of seats required in that constituency and an equal number of substitute candidates. With regard to the 40-seat list, it must include at least three Christian candidates, two candidates who are workers or farmers, two youth candidates, one candidate with a disability, one candidate from Egyptians residing abroad, at least 20 women, whether or not they belong to the above categories. Regarding the 102-seat list, it must include at least nine Christian candidates, six candidates who are workers or farmers, six youth candidates, three candidates with disabilities, three candidates from Egyptians residing abroad and at least 51 women, whether or not they belong to the above categories. Concerning the individual candidacy (individual-seat system), candidates running in individual constituencies must submit a written nomination request to the Election Oversight Committee at the Primary Court in the governorate they wish to represent. They submit their nomination within a period set by the National Elections Authority, the body responsible for managing and supervising the electoral process, which must not be less than five days from the date of the candidate nomination window opens.
