Arizona State football 'clearly the favorite' in Big 12, David Pollack says

In June, college football analyst David Pollack raved about Arizona State football quarterback Sam Leavitt and his odds to win the Heisman Trophy in 2025. He's also very high on Arizona State's chances to repeat as Big 12 Conference champions. Pollock, a former ESPN analyst, praised the ASU football team in a recent episode of his podcast, See Ball Get Ball, talking about how he's buying stock in Kenny Dillingham and the Sun Devils and how he was taking Arizona State to win the Big 12. "I don't think you should slow down on this stock," Pollack said. "This is going to be a very, very good stock for a long time. Kenny Dillingham is a stud. He's a stud, he's young. This is a guy who is at his place. He's at his home. He's at his dream job. … It's obviously a great fit when you look at the takeaway." "When you look at this roster, experience coming back," he said on the podcast. "A lot of experience winning coming back. …They ain't going nowhere. …" Pollack, a College Football Hall of Famer, did bring up the loss of Skattebo and ASU's defense as potential areas of concern for the Sun Devils, but he wasn't very concerned about them. "To me the conversation starts with Arizona State, and then everybody else underneath them," he said of Arizona State's Big 12 title chances. "They are clearly the favorite to me. Talent, coaching. … It's going to be fun and if I am Arizona State I am pretty jacked up and excited." Pollack concluded the segment by saying "I think we're all in on Arizona State." Arizona State opens the season on Aug. 30 against Northern Arizona. Coach Deion Sanders returns to Colorado after recovering from health issue

Colorado football coach Deion Sanders has returned to Boulder after recovering from an undisclosed health issue at his ranch in east Texas this summer. Sanders, 57, announced it on social media July 25, just a couple of days before his team is due to report for preseason training camp. A school spokesman confirmed he is in Boulder. He also is scheduled to hold a news conference with his medical team in Boulder on Monday. 'Back and Feeling Great!' he said on social media site X. Sanders has a history of blood circulation issues in his legs that led to surgeries in 2023 and the amputation of two toes before that. But he hasn't revealed what ailed him since suffering the health setback in May and then missing several events in May and June, including a speaking engagement in Florida and Colorado's annual high school and youth football camps. Football recruits who visited in June were told he was out sick. He did appear at a Big 12 Conference media days event July 9 but declined to talk about his health. GONE FROM CAMPUS: Did Deion Sanders' absence affect Colorado's recruiting? What recruits said about it. He then recently left his ranch to visit his son Shilo at preseason camp for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on July 23. His eldest son Deion Jr. talked about the ordeal in a video he posted from the ranch on YouTube on July 22. 'I'm kind of sad,' Deion Jr. said of his last day at the ranch. 'I'm not gonna lie to you. I learned to really actually love this place. I really never stayed out here much. … It's not even just about being here. It was like the battle that was fought here. The battle that was fought and won here. That's like the main important thing. Boys didn't left the house for two months.' He called it a blessing and said details would be coming soon, as documented on video, much in the spirit of the 'Coach Prime' marketing machine. 'He's gonna tell y'all whatever he went through very soon, and I've got a lot of it recorded on video,' Deion Jr. said. 'So you'll be able to see what he went through.' Colorado opens the season at home against Georgia Tech on Aug. 29. It will be Deion Sanders' third season at Colorado after finishing 4-8 in 2023 and 9-4 in 2024. But it will be a challenge after several top players left for the NFL, including his quarterback son Shedeur, safety son Shilo and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter. Kansas coach Bill Self underwent heart procedure after experiencing ‘concerning symptoms'

Kansas men's basketball coach Bill Self was hospitalized after he experienced 'some concerning symptoms,' the school said in a statement Thursday. Self, who underwent a heart procedure, is expected to make a full recovery and is set to be released from Lawrence Memorial Hospital 'soon.' 'Kansas men's basketball coach Bill Self felt unwell and experienced some concerning symptoms Thursday,' Kansas said in a statement. 'He was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where he had two stents inserted. Jayhawks head coach Bill Self is seen on the sidelines during the second half of Kansas' 98-94 win over UCF in the Big 12 Conference tournament on March 12, 2025. AP 'The procedure went very well, and he is expected to make a full recovery. He is in good spirits and expects to be released from the hospital soon.' Self was also hospitalized midway through the 2023 season because of a blockage in his arteries, where the 62-year-old had a standard heart catheterization and two stents placed. The longtime Jayhawks coach responded well to that procedure, according to the University of Kansas Health System. Self's most recent hospitalization comes amid a busy offseason for Kansas after a disappointing season in which the Jayhawks got bounced in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Kansas head coach Bill Self yells during the Jayhawks' 81-65 win over Villanova in the Final Four on April 2, 2022. AP Self said his program has started to take a different approach regarding acquiring talent from the transfer portal this year by shifting away from the traditional rankings. 'It seemed like, to me, this year we emphasized more not what other people thought of rankings and stuff like that,' Self told 247Sports this week. 'Not that that was our emphasis before, but the appearance is, 'Well, you go out and get the guys that are the highest rated guys that are in the portal,' which is good. You get Hunter. That's a great get. 'But I think the emphasis was more on what we needed to do to allow us to play as athletic and to play the style that best suits us and best fits me for winning, and I think we were actually able to do that.'
