Mississippi State Football Preview 2025: The Bulldogs Will Be Better, But There's a Problem
X CFN, Fiu | CFN Facebook | Bluesky Fiu, CFN Mississippi State PreviewOffense & Defense BreakdownsSeason Prediction, Win Total, Keys to SeasonMississippi State has had worse seasons than 2024.The 1949 and 1968 teams failed to win a game. There were four seasons with just one victory, and several other two-win campaigns. But last year wasn't just about an awful season in the first year under head coach Jeff Lebby. It was about how far the program still needs to go just to knock on the door of the top SEC teams.
In 120 seasons of Mississippi State football, there have been just two ten-win regular seasons, and that was Dan Mullen's 2014 team - which is the answer to the trivia question of who the first-ever College Football Playoff No. 1-ranked team was.Mississippi State has to find a way to get back to a bowl game for the first time in three seasons, much less make history by winning ten or more regular season games for a CFP spot.
But Lebby is just getting started. He's a 41-year-old in his first head coaching gig. He knows how to crank up great offenses, and he needs another recruiting class, along with a few more shopping trips to the transfer portal, to make Mississippi State the type of dangerous team no one wants to face. And he and the program need a ton of luck.
This year's team gets Arizona State, Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas. That's four teams from last year's College Football Playoff. The easiest SEC home game is Ole Miss, the second easiest is probably Tennessee, and …This will take a little while longer. But the talent is far better, there's a lot more to work with this season, and any positive steps will be good ones. It starts with Lebby being Lebby and getting far more out of the … Offense & Defense BreakdownsSeason Prediction, Win Total, Keys to Season

Alabama's opponent for 2025 SEC-ACC Basketball Challenge revealed
Alabama's opponent for 2025 SEC-ACC Basketball Challenge revealed Alabama basketball has reportedly learned its opponent for the annual SEC-ACC Challenge. CBS Sports college basketball insider Jon Rothstein reported Wednesday that Nate Oats' Crimson Tide will take on coach Brad Brownell and the Clemson Tigers at Coleman Coliseum in the 2025 SEC-ACC Challenge. An official date and start time were not announced. The matchup between Alabama and Clemson will be a rematch of teams who met twice during the 2023-24 season, most notably in the West Region final of the Elite Eight in Los Angeles. The Crimson Tide punched their first-ever ticket to the Final Four with an 89-82 win over the Tigers at Arena (Staples Center) on March 30, 2024. Alabama made 16 3-pointers in the victory, getting a game-high 23 points from Mark Sears, who made 7-of-14 shots from beyond the arc, and 19 points off the bench from Jarin Stevenson. Alabama and Clemson previously met in the 2023-24 regular season on Nov. 28 in Coleman Coliseum, an 85-77 Tigers victory in that year's SEC-ACC Challenge. One of Tigers' star players from their 2024 run to the Elite Eight, forward Ian Schieffelin, recently joined Dabo Swinney and the Clemson football team as a tight end. Last year, Alabama defeated North Carolina in the SEC-ACC Challenge, 94-79 in Chapel Hill behind 20 points from Sears and 15 apiece from Labaron Philon and Aden Holloway. Philon recently announced his decision to withdraw from the 2025 NBA draft and return to Tuscaloosa for his sophomore season. As part of their 2024-25 schedule, the Crimson Tide will also face Illinois in Chicago, Purdue at Coleman Coliseum, Rick Pitino's St. John's Red Storm at Madison Square Garden, and the Arizona Wildcats at Legacy Arena in Birmingham among other nonconference foes. Alabama finished 28-9 last season and reached the Elite Eight before falling to Duke in the East Region final in Newark. The Crimson Tide were ranked No. 6 in the final USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll. Clemson went 27-7 overall and 18-2 in ACC play and was a No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers fell to McNeese State, 69-67, in a first-round upset in Providence, Rhode Island. Clemson was ranked No. 23 in the final Coaches Poll. Contact/Follow us @RollTideWire on X, and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Alabama news, notes and opinions.

Notre Dame football will visit Arkansas with a noon kickoff time on September 27th
Notre Dame football will visit Arkansas with a noon kickoff time on September 27th As the college football season is quickly approaching, Notre Dame football is starting to find out more about its 2025 schedule. On Wednesday, the second road game of the year's start time was announced, a contest at Arkansas, an SEC team that occasionally has solid seasons. However, it hasn't been since 2021 since they had a top-3 conference finish, after going 4-8 last year. The battle between Notre Dame and Arkansas will be played on Sept. 27th., with the kickoff set for 12:00 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on ABC, as the Irish will look to take out yet another SEC team after defeating Georgia last year in the College Football Playoff and Texas A&M, who is the home opener opponent this year, in the season opener of 2024. This will be the first matchup between the two teams in their history, and we'll see if Notre Dame can once again go into SEC territory and return home with a victory.
