Apple introduces AppleCare One for affordable and flexible coverage plans for up to three apple devices
The plan costs $19.99 a month and covers up to three devices, no matter which type. It includes accidental damage protection, such as cracked screens or liquid spills, along with battery service and 24 by 7 expert support. If you want to add more devices, you can do that too. Each extra device costs $5.99 a month.
This is more than just a repackaged AppleCare Plus. AppleCare One brings something new. For the first time, theft and loss coverage now applies not only to iPhones but also to iPads and Apple Watches. This added protection will give users more peace of mind, especially for devices they carry around every day.
Another welcome change is flexibility. Users can now add devices that are up to four years old, as long as they are in good working condition. Earlier, Apple limited AppleCare Plus to just 60 days after purchase. This update means you do not need to rush to protect your devices.

Truecaller call recording on iPhones to stop from September 30: Here's how to save them now
Truecaller, the popular caller ID and spam blocking app, has announced that the call recording feature on iPhones will be discontinued starting September 30. In a statement to TechCrunch, Truecaller's head of iOS, Nakul Kabra, said that the company took the decision to do away with call recording on iOS as it wants to focus more on other features like Live Caller ID and automatic spam call blocking. Introduced in June 2023, Truecaller's call recording feature was initially available to paying subscribers on iPhone, but later expanded to the Android version of the app. Since Apple does not allow third-party apps to record calls natively, the company had to resort to using a recording line which merges with calls. According to Kabra, the method not only increased the complexity but also led to a sharp rise in costs. On X, several Truecaller users shared a notification which said, 'We are discontinuing the Call Recording feature on Truecaller for iPhone.' The pop-up message also asked users who often use the functionality to download their recordings, as everything will be deleted after September 30. To save your call recordings on iPhone, launch Truecaller on your phone and head over to the Record tab. Now, tap on the Settings icon, click on the option named Storage Preference and change it to iCloud storage. If the option is disabled, you will need to manually enable it by going to Settings > Your name > iCloud > Saved to iCloud > Turn on Truecaller. In case you want to download specific recordings, head over to the Record tab and swipe left on the recordings you want to save. Now, tap on the Share or Export option, and the app will ask you where you want to save the recording. Truecaller's decision to discontinue the call recording feature on iPhone comes at a time when Apple has introduced its very own native call recording feature.

US defense bill proposes examination of Apple display supplier
A measure added into a massive U.S. defense spending bill in recent weeks will, if passed, ask the Pentagon to determine whether one of Apple's display suppliers should be listed as a Chinese military company. Being on the list does not block companies from doing business in the U.S. but will in coming years block them from being part of the U.S. military's supply chain. The bill, known as the National Defense Authorization Act, was approved in July by key committees in both houses of the U.S. Congress. The final bill, considered a "must-pass" because it funds the U.S. military, is expected to become law later in the year. When the bill was approved by the U.S. House of Representatives Armed Services Committee, a newly added amendment for the first time asked the U.S. Defense Department to consider whether BOE Technology Group Co, listed on Apple's official suppliers list, should be added to a list of firms that allegedly aid China's military. BOE and Apple did not respond to requests for comment. Craig Singleton, a China expert at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, a Washington think-tank, said Beijing had offered billions of dollars in subsidies, tax breaks and loans to help firms such as BOE dominate global panel production. "This creates a single-source vulnerability that could be easily exploited to disrupt or degrade U.S. military operations, not to mention undermine commercial supply chains, during a conflict or period of heightened bilateral tension with Beijing," Singleton added. A study published last month by New York-based NERA Economic Consulting and commissioned by BOE's U.S. subsidiary found that the display industry, which includes major Korean players such as Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, remains highly competitive, with no single player capable of significantly affecting global prices. "There is no credible risk of a supply chain disruption by mainland China display manufacturers," the report said.

Tim Cook rallies staff, says AI revolution bigger than internet and Apple will invest to grab it
Apple CEO Tim Cook has told employees that the company is going 'all in' on artificial intelligence, describing it as a technology revolution on par with, or even greater than, the internet and the smartphone era. According to Bloomberg, Cook delivered the message in a rare allhands meeting held in the company's oncampus auditorium, following the iPhone maker's latest earnings report. The address was aimed at energising Apple staff around AI and what Cook called the company's 'amazing' pipeline of future must do this. Apple will do this. This is sort of ours to grab,' Cook told staff. 'We will make the investment to do it,' he CEO compared the rise of AI to past technological shifts. 'We've rarely been first,' he said. 'There was a PC before the Mac; there was a smartphone before the iPhone; there were many tablets before the iPad; there was an MP3 player before iPod. This is how I feel about AI.' Cook said the company was 'open' to mergers and acquisitions to accelerate progress. Reports have suggested that Apple has even weighed up potential acquisitions, including AI search engine Perplexity and the French startup Mistral was months behind OpenAI, Alphabet and Microsoft when it announced its Apple Intelligence features last year – and even then, several of those tools failed to arrive in time for the iPhone 16 launch, leading to some awkward delays and Cook downplayed concerns about the slow rollout and said that perhaps not first, but Apple delivers the best. However, he urged employees to speed up how quickly AI is integrated into Apple's work. 'All of us are using AI in a significant way already, and we must use it as a company as well,' Cook said.
