Tate McRae's duet with Morgan Wallen is finally here. How the controversial country-pop track is sitting with their respective fan bases.
'Tate McRae, if you're going to put your neck out and do a collab, maybe we could at least make it interesting,' Zachary, a content creator known as the 'Swiftologist,' said on TikTok. 'It's a rude interruption into what is otherwise a fantastic victory summer for Miss McRae.'
With a career rife with controversy, Wallen has developed a reputation as country music's bad boy. The 32-year-old singer pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment in 2024, was suspended by his record label after footage of him using a racial slur surfaced in 2021, and was accused of violating COVID-19 protocols in 2020. The singer was also previously charged with driving under the influence in Nashville in 2016, though his case was ultimately dismissed.
Wallen most recently drew backlash in March, when he was seen abruptly walking off the Saturday Night Live stage. At the end of the episode, which boasted Anora star Mikey Madison as its host, Wallen is seen hugging Madison and leaving the stage, while the rest of the cast remains as the credits roll. When asked about the moment, Wallen denied any ill will between him and the late-night sketch show.
'I was just ready to go home. I'd been there all week,' the country singer told Sundae Conversation host Caleb Pressley in May.
While McRae's decision to team up with Wallen may seem surprising, the 21-year-old singer appears to be a fan of Wallen's music, having performed a rendition of his Post Malone duet, 'I Had Some Help,' ahead of one of her shows in July 2024.
'Pop girlies no longer get to play the 'I didn't know' card in 2025,' a TikTok creator named Kimberly said. 'In 2025, collaborating with someone like Morgan Wallen is not just a creative decision. It is literally a calculated brand alignment.'
McRae has already reached several career highs this year: She released her latest album, So Close to What, in February, nabbed her first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart, is currently on her Miss Possessive world tour and unveiled her Paper Magazine cover story on Wednesday.
On X, a user with the handle @ChnRstrntKng wrote, 'I'm a Tate McRae fan and a Morgan Wallen hater so I'm going to have to think long and hard about whether or not I ever want to listen to this song.'
Another X user wrote, 'The worst girl you know is so excited about the Morgan wallen Tate McRae collab.'
A TikTok creator known as Gray revealed that the news of McRae's duet with Wallen was enough reason to stop supporting her.
'I just cannot get past that,' said Gray. 'If she's collabing with Morgan Wallen? Not a main pop girl.'
Wallen fans, meanwhile, are welcoming the collaboration with open arms. Even some McRae fans, while seemingly in the minority, are impressed by the track.
'Unpopular Opinion: I'm OBSESSED with this collab!!!' wrote a TikToker named Ava.
Taylor Faith, another content creator, declared, 'Not to be dramatic but this Morgan Wallen x Tate McRae collab just rewired my brain chemistry.'
Despite his controversies, the country singer still appears to be beloved within his genre and among his fans. He's also quick to sing his collaborator's praises. Wallen spoke highly of McRae in the days leading up to his album's release, calling his decision to work with the 'Sports Car' singer a 'no-brainer.'
'She was an absolute pleasure to work with on the feature. She did everything very timely,' he told Holler. 'We didn't get to work on it in the studio together, but the song wasn't originally written for her in mind. It was written in a [male] key, technically, and she just absolutely crushed every single part of the song. I'm fired up for people to hear it!'

NEW YORK – Alicia Silverstone came to fame in the 1990s, long before the barrage of Instagram comments, TikTok algorithms and YouTube rabbit holes. And she acknowledges that she "can't imagine" what it would be like to start her career in this day and age. But there's one part of Silverstone's origin that the actress isn't sentimental about. "They're kinder to people now, aren't they?" Silverstone, 48, ponders. "(The media) used to be able to just rip a woman apart. Now you would not be allowed to do that." The actress doesn't see a lot of stories like the ones written about her in the '90s. There was the 1995 Rolling Stone profile that called Silverstone an actress "whom lots of men want to sleep with" (she was 18). Then there was the obsessive attention paid to her weight while filming 1997's "Batman & Robin." These days, "people would've come to my rescue, right?" she adds. "In any given moment, there's a group of people who have things to say, and then the other people come and they smash (the negative comments) down. Before, we didn't have that." Instead, following the coverage around her turn as Batgirl, Silverstone told The Guardian that she entered a period where she "stopped loving acting." But now Silverstone is as busy as ever, with roles on TV and in film, plus an upcoming trip to Venice Film Festival. Megadeth announces final album, farewell tour: 'Forged in steel, ending in fire'
The end is near for Megadeth. Band founder, singer and guitarist Dave Mustaine announced – via his skeletal alter ego Vic Rattlehead – the rockers' forthcoming album will be Megadeth's last. 'Forty years of metal, forged in steel, ending in fire,' Rattlehead says in an apocalyptic-themed video. 'You've heard the warning. Now, prepare yourselves and meet me on the frontlines.' Megadeth will also embark on a global farewell tour in 2026 and Mustaine is prepping a new memoir. Details and dates on all will be announced in the coming months. 'There's so many musicians that have come to the end of their career, whether accidental or intentional,' Mustaine says in an announcement about Megadeth's finale. 'Most of them don't get to go out on their own terms on top, and that's where I'm at in my life right now. I have traveled the world and have made millions upon millions of fans and the hardest part of all of this is saying goodbye to them.' Mustaine, 63, has been the only consistent member of the band since forming it in 1983 in California. Throughout its tenure, Megadeth – along with Metallica (in which he previously served as lead guitarist), Slayer, Iron Maiden and Anthrax – brought metal to the masses. The band has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide and in 2017 scored a Grammy Award for best metal performance ('Dystopia'). Megadeth's most recent album, 'The Sick, the Dying … and the Dead!' arrived in 2022, three years after Mustaine was diagnosed with throat cancer. The combination of his illness and the COVID-19 pandemic prompted the delay. The album hit No. 1 on the Billboard charts for hard rock, rock and alternative albums. In 2021, the world fell in love with the Madrigal family. Encanto's popularity has only grown since then — and a lot of fans believe it is the best Disney movie of the century so far. The magic is everywhere in and out of the movie, so I did some digging for some fun facts that we will talk about (unlike Bruno). Here are 23 Encanto fun facts that will make you feel right at home: Stephanie Beatriz was originally going to play Luisa. Unlike her signature role as the rugged Rosa Diaz in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Beatriz's real-life personality eventually led the filmmakers to offer her the leading role of Mirabel. Speaking of Beatriz, she actually auditioned for a part in the film by singing "You're Welcome" from Moana. That's making a bold first impression. Encanto is actually the first Disney animation to utilize full-time choreographers. To better capture Colombian cultural inspirations and dance styles, choreographers Jamal Sims and Kai Martinez were brought on to breathe life into the moves of the animated characters. Mirabel was initially known as Beatriz. Ultimately, Mirabel was chosen, based on the Spanish word "mira," meaning "to look." As for Bruno, he was originally called Oscar. With all that green, I'm glad they didn' been too Oscar the Grouch-coded. Colombian children do indeed drink coffee at a young age. So the coffee kid was a reference to that. I'm a grown man and still hate good on you, Colombian kids. Like most Disney movies, field trips were required to better study the culture of Colombia. Although the filmmakers went once, COVID-19 canceled Disney's second research trip. Pepa's gift was initially meant to be "indestructibility." Would've been hard to showcase for his big doorknob ceremony, but I'm sure producers had a plan. During the scene where Isabela shares her true feelings about her engagement, she uses her gift to create a cactus that is shaped like Mickey Mouse. Hidden Mickey confirmed? The filmmakers left clues about characters' gifts through clothing. Luisa has dumbbells and other weights on her skirt. Pepa has golden sun earrings. Camilo has chameloeons on his poncho. And many more clues throughout the family's wardrobe. According to Jared Bush, the woman whose fish had died was known as Senora Pezmuerto, which roughly translates to "Mrs. Dead Fish." I think the writing was on the wall for her fish. F in the chat for fish. Mirabel dances her way (literally to her own beat) when singing alone, but during the other Madrigals' songs, she does her best to learn and match their rhythms and dance "languages." Mirabel does not have a comical sidekick. A first in Disney movies, this was done intentionally to let the main character stand on their own. Most of the Latin voices that appear in the movie are from Colombian-born or Colombian-descent actors. Abuela's real name is Alma, which means "soul" in Spanish. In the beginning of the film, Mirabel dances through a game of Tejo, the national sport of Colombia, which includes beer and gunpowder and derives from the Indigenous groups who dwell there (imagine explosive cornhole). Luisa's bedroom door symbol is a reference to the Colombian weightlifter Maria Isabel Urrutia, who was the first Colombian athlete to win a gold medal at the Olympics. Bruno's costume was purposely designed to fade into the background. The color used is called "go-away green," a color used by Disney Imagineers to make your eye skim past buildings and structures. Sebastián Yatra agreed to be part of the film before he even knew what it was about. He quite literally did the "Where do I sign?" When under the bed with Antonio, Mirabel uses her lips to point toward her gift to him. Lip pointing is a gestural system used in South American and other cultures.
