DJ Akademiks responds to Twitch ban after grooming controversy
DJ Akademiks, whose real name is Livingston Allen, has addressed his recent ban from Twitch, stating that he is working with the platform to resolve the issue. The ban, which took effect on January 28, 2025, follows controversy surrounding his interaction with a 15-year-old streamer, NourGXD, during a January 23 broadcast.
Acknowledging Twitch's decision, Akademiks stated, 'Twitch took some action because even though I wasn't streaming, that happened on their platform. Completely get it. We will work with Twitch and make it right, okay?' Despite the suspension, he confirmed that he will continue streaming on alternative platforms, including Rumble, Meta, and YouTube, where he claims the majority of his audience is based.
Akademiks asserted that the matter was settled and dismissed ongoing discussions. He also rejected speculation of major fallout, insisting that his sponsorships remain intact. 'Happy Dad is still right here, make sure you all go get the grape version. Stake supports us on Twitter. Nothing has changed there,' he said, pointing to continued backing from brands.
While addressing the ban, he emphasized that he respects Twitch's enforcement policies. 'Twitch, respect their platform, and you also have to respect their rules. And also, when they take enforcement action, you can't get mad,' he added.
The controversy has drawn criticism from various figures, including FaZe Clan's Plaqueboymax. However, despite the Twitch ban, Akademiks is doubling down on his presence across other platforms, reaffirming his commitment to content creation.
