Steven Universe creator Rebecca Sugar is executive-producing the new series with Ian Jones-Quartey.
The original Steven Universe aired for five seasons (2013–2019) on Cartoon Network, eventually spawning a feature-length movie (2019's Steven Universe: The Movie) as well as a 20-episode epilogue series (Steven Universe Future) that same year.
Following the conclusion of Steven Universe Future in 2020, TVLine spoke with Sugar about the possibility of revisiting the show's characters again someday. 'I love these characters and this world, and I have theories about the timelines that follow Future — but I want to give the characters some time and some privacy, at least for a while,' she told us. 'I need a little of that too.'
The news of Lars of the Stars was formally announced Wednesday during during a Studio Showcase presented by Warner Bros. Animation, Cartoon Network Studios, and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
During that same presentation, it was also announced that Teen Titans Go! has been renewed for Season 10, set to air on Cartoon Network (exact premiere date TBD).

Soaps Shocker: Erika Slezak Joins General Hospital! Here's What We Know So Far
Daytime-TV royalty is returning home. The great Erika Slezak — a record-holding six-time Daytime Emmy winner for her run as One Life to Live's Viki (and sometimes Niki et al) — has inked a short-term deal to appear on ABC's General Hospital. More from TVLine The Pitt Season 2 Adds Four, Including a Familiar Face From Breaking Bad Roseanne Barr Claims The Conners Wanted Her Back - Here's What the EPs Told Us About a Possible Cameo Chris Robinson, of General Hospital and Bold and Beautiful, Dead at 86 The jaw-dropping news was delivered via Slezak's longtime fan club president, Walter Miller. 'Erika has just informed me she has signed a short-term contract with ABC's General Hospital,' Miller posted to on Thursday. 'At this time, Erika does not know which character she will be playing or when her scenes will air, but [she] is excited to be working again with executive producer Frank Valentini and the cast of GH!' Valentini was the boss at OLTL from 2003 until its very end. 'I am thrilled to confirm that my dear friend and former One Life to Live colleague, Erika Slezak, will appear on General Hospital this fall,' Valentini confirmed via X. 'Stay tuned as we prepare to introduce another daytime legend to Port Charles.' The daughter of Tony Award-winning Austrian actor Walter Slezak (but no relation to TVLine alumni Michael), Slezak famously first auditioned for All My Children and the role of nurse Mary Kennicott back in 1971 — albeit unsuccessfully. Instead, and fortuitously, she was offered the role of OLTL's Victoria 'Viki' Lord Riley. She made her OLTL debut in 1971, and stuck with it until 2013 — including as part of the show's short-lived, dying breath on Prospect Park's The Online Network. Slezak earned her first Daytime Emmy Award nomination in 1983, grabbed gold for the first time the following year, and then claimed Emmys again in 1986, 1992, 1995 and 1996. (Yes, she holds the record for most wins in the Outstanding Lead Actress category.) Since OLTL's true and sincere end, Slezak has been spotted guest-starring on primetime series including Blue Bloods and The Resident. Who do think Slezak will be playing on ? Genndy Tartakovsky Developing Wild High Octane Animated Series HEIST SAFARI For Adult Swim — GeekTyrant
Genndy Tartakovsky, the creative mind behind Dexter's Laboratory , Samurai Jack , and Primal is charging back onto the Adult Swim lineup with a new animated series called Heist Safari , and it sounds like pure, beautiful chaos. The show is described as an 'animated high octane action comedy,' and it tells the story of three frog brothers who rob a bank. 'Seems simple enough, but the execution is special as !#&$??!!!!,' That pretty much tells you everything you need to know about the tone of this show. It sounds exactly the kind of unhinged, full-throttle animation Tartakovsky thrives in. He always manages to hit that perfect sweet spot between absurdity and genius. Heist Safari was actuslly first pitched live on stage a year ago at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival to Adult Swim President Michael Ouweleen. Now, one year later, it's officially in the works because apparently when Genndy throws an idea out into the wild, the universe listens. Tartakovsky is currently promoting Fixed , his raunchy new Netflix movie made under his Sony Animation deal, and he also packed the house at a Cartoon Network Studios panel celebrating 25 years of boundary-pushing animation. Reflecting on his career and creative momentum, Tartakovsky said, 'It feels like when I was younger, I feel like that energy makes me still want to do new things.' That energy? It's clearly alive and well. If Heist Safari is anywhere near as insane and inspired as it sounds, we're in for something wild. Bring on the frog bandits. Source: Deadline

Rick Moranis and Bill Pullman Confirmed For SPACEBALLS 2 with Keke Palmer Joining the Mayhem — GeekTyrant
It has been confirmed that Bill Pullman and Rick Moranis are returning as Lone Starr and Dark Helmet in Spaceballs 2 ! This brand-new film comes from Amazon MGM Studios, and it was previously announced that Mel Brooks is back as Yogurt. This is awesome because I never thought that Moranis would come out of retirement for this, but he is and I couldn't be more excited! Adding to the cast is Keke Palmer, whose role is still being kept top secret. Amazon isn't saying a word about who she's playing or what the story is, but she's officially on board. The sequel is being directed by Josh Greenbaum ( Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar ) and written by Benji Samit, Dan Hernandez, and Josh Gad, who's also producing and expected to star. The producing team includes Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody, Mel Brooks, and Greenbaum, with Kevin Salter, Adam Merims, Samit, and Hernandez serving as executive producers. The movie is described as 'A Non-Prequel Non-Reboot Sequel Part Two but with Reboot Elements Franchise Expansion Film.' So... interpret that however you want. This marks a rare return to screen for Moranis, who's been largely absent from Hollywood since the late '90s. He stepped away from acting to focus on raising his children after the passing of his wife, costume designer Ann Belsky. Aside from a 2020 Mint Mobile commercial with Ryan Reynolds, Moranis hasn't taken on many projects—making this comeback a big deal for longtime fans of Ghostbusters , Honey, I Shrunk the Kids , and Little Shop of Horrors . Gad responded to the news via an Instagram post shortly after the story broke. "My phone has never exploded as hard as it did today. We are very excited! Early days still, but working with the legendary Mel freaking Brooks to make something worthy of this franchise and his legacy has been a dream come true. @benjisamit @cubanmissiledh @ @kevinsalter1 and I worship at the alter of all things Brooks and we are doing everything in our power alongside Mel to make sure you get what you've waited 37 long years for. EVERYTHING." The original Spaceballs debuted in 1987 and wasn't a box office monster as it pulled in just over $38 million worldwide, but it's grown into a sci-fi parody classic. The film spoofed Star Wars , 2001: A Space Odyssey , and other genre staples. It was silly, it was quotable, and it's only gotten better with age. This new installment is set for theatrical release in 2027, forty years after the original. Source: Deadline
