Rohan Jaitley demands apology from Rahul Gandhi over remarks on Arun Jaitley
Rohan Jaitley
, son of former Finance Minister
Arun Jaitley
and chief of the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA), on Saturday demanded a public apology from
Congress
leader
Rahul Gandhi
for his remarks claiming that Arun Jaitley had threatened him over the farm laws.
Calling the allegations "highly condemnable," Rohan Jaitley earlier pointed out that the farm laws were introduced in 2020—13 months after his father's death in August 2019—making it impossible for Arun Jaitley to have been involved. "Threatening people was not in Arun Jaitley's nature. He was a staunch democrat and a consensus builder. To say he threatened anyone over the Farmer's Bill, which came after his death, is unacceptable," Rohan Jaitley told ANI.

BJP
leaders Amit Malviya and Anurag Thakur also came out strongly against Rahul Gandhi. Malviya termed Gandhi's statement "factually incorrect and misleading," clarifying that the farm bills were drafted and enacted in 2020, well after Arun Jaitley's demise. Thakur accused Gandhi of spreading "a new lie every day" and demanded he apologise to Jaitley's family and the BJP.
"Rahul Gandhi should apologise to Arun Jaitley's family, the BJP, and the entire country," Thakur said, pointing out that the farm laws were passed in Parliament over a year after Jaitley's death.
Live Events
Rahul Gandhi had earlier alleged that Arun Jaitley was sent by the Modi government to "threaten" him for opposing the farm laws, sparking a sharp backlash from the BJP and Jaitley's family.

DMK govt. failed to enact law against caste killings, alleges Tamilisai
BJP leader and former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Sunday said the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu had failed to enact a law against caste-hatred induced murders, despite being in power for the fifth time. Speaking to mediapersons in Chennai, Dr. Tamilisai alleged, 'Even after ruling the State for so many years, it is a shame that the DMK government has not been able to uphold social justice and enact a law against caste-hatred-induced murders.' She said the people of Tamil Nadu were struggling every day to make a living and ensure their safety. Referring to the launch of the 'Ungaludan Stalin' camps, she said though health camps were being conducted as a part of the initiative, the condition of government hospitals remained poor. Dr. Tamilisai also claimed the Union government had been supporting Tamil Nadu's development, but Chief Minister M.K. Stalin had made it a norm to blame the Centre. 'The Chief Minister should understand that a confrontational attitude with the Centre is not good. Had Kalaignar [M. Karunanidhi] been alive, he would have maintained a cordial relationship with the Centre despite ideological differences.' On the exit of the former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam-led camp from the National Democratic Alliance, she said, 'It is my opinion that he could have handled his political moves more patiently.'

Textile broker's murder: BJP councillor sparks row with encounter remark
Surat: In the aftermath of the brutal murder of textile broker Alok Agrawal (46), BJP councillor Vijaykumar Chomal stirred controversy by publicly demanding that Surat police eliminate the accused in an encounter using their service revolvers. Chomal made the statement on Sunday afternoon at the crime scene near Vatika Township in Limbayat, where police had brought two of the arrested accused for reconstruction of the offence. Agrawal was murdered in the early hours of Saturday near the Dumbhal fire station. The Limbayat police, along with the Surat crime branch, have arrested two of the four accused — Dipakkumar Singh (35) and Bhagwan Manglu Sai (25). A third accused, Abrar Lassi, is currently on the run, while the fourth suspect, Asfaq Kawa, is believed to have masterminded the attack, police said. On Sunday, as news spread about the accused being brought to the crime scene, a large crowd gathered, demanding capital punishment. Chomal, who arrived with other local BJP leaders, went a step further by urging police to carry out an on-the-spot encounter. "Such brutal murders cannot be tolerated. The police should shoot the accused in the chest with their service revolvers so such crimes do not happen again," Chomal said in full public view during the reconstruction. Later, when contacted by TOI, Chomal clarified: "What I meant was it should be 'tit for tat' for such criminals. A civilised society cannot accept such incidents. I demand that the case be tried in a fast-track court and concluded within a month." When asked about Chomal's remarks, Surat city BJP president Paresh Patel said, "I am not aware of any such statement by Chomal. I will be able to comment on it once I hear it." Deputy commissioner of police (zone 2) Bhagirath Gadhvi said, "We identified three accused who were seen on CCTV attacking Agrawal. During interrogation, the arrested men revealed that the murder was orchestrated by Asfaq Kawa, who allegedly held a grudge against Agrawal for beating him in the past." Both Singh and Sai reportedly have prior criminal records, he added. Meanwhile, police have intensified the search for the absconding accused, Abrar Lassi and Asfaq Kawa. BOX: 'Textile broker stabbed over 50 times' CCTV footage showed three men brutally stabbing Alok Agrawal at least 50 times. The attack was so savage that Agrawal suffered deep injuries to his legs, hands, and other parts of his body. Police are exploring multiple theories behind the murder — one suggests the accused believed Agrawal was a police informer, while another points to a personal grudge involving a past altercation with Asfaq Kawa.
