Sunday's briefing: Tuchel questions England attitude as Son hails Postecoglou
Northern Ireland were beaten by Denmark, while the fall-out from Tottenham's decision to sack Ange Postecoglou continued.
England labour

England were booed after limping to a lifeless 1-0 win against Andorra as Tuchel's first away match in charge ended in forgettable and frustrating fashion.
The German coach called for relentlessness and patience against the side 173rd in FIFA's world rankings but got neither as the stuttering Euro 2024 runners-up were jeered at the end of both halves.
Kane turned in lively Noni Madueke's cross in the 50th minute, yet the goals did not flow from that point and slow play brought further grumbles.
Some fans made an early exit and there were more boos at the end of Tuchel's third win in charge.
England 'lacked seriousness and urgency'

Tuchel made no attempt to hide his unhappiness with England's performance.
'I didn't like the attitude how we ended the game,' the German said.
'I liked the attitude how we started the game, the first 25 minutes, but I didn't like the last 25 minutes, the last half an hour.
'I think we lacked the seriousness and the urgency that is needed in a World Cup qualifier.
'We played with fire and I didn't like the attitude in the end. I didn't like the body language and I think it was not what the occasion needed.'

Northern Ireland suffered a friendly defeat in Copenhagen as Christian Eriksen got the winner in a 2-1 comeback victory for Denmark.
An early own goal from former Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg put Michael O'Neill's side on top but Gustav Isaksen levelled in first-half stoppage time before Eriksen swept home the winner in the 67th minute.
It was a second successive friendly defeat for Michael O'Neill's side, after March's 5-1 thrashing in Sweden, but was a much better defensive performance away to top-level opposition in their penultimate match before the World Cup qualifying campaign starts in Luxembourg in September.
O'Neill was was left with mixed feelings, saying: 'There's no shame in coming here and losing the game 2-1, not at all.
'But, in terms of where we need to get to as a team, we need to be able to retain the ball a little bit better, maybe find a little bit more in terms of level of possession and that will help us carry a bigger threat.'
Son praises 'legend' Ange
Son Heung-min hailed Ange Postecoglou as a 'Tottenham Hotspur legend' as the club's supporters' trust expressed 'concern' with another change in manager.
Postecoglou ended Spurs' 17-year wait for silverware with Europa League success over Manchester United in Bilbao on May 21, but it failed to earn the Australian a third season after a woeful league campaign.
Captain Son led the tributes to Postecoglou, writing on Instagram: 'Gaffer. You've changed the trajectory of this club. You believed in yourself, and us, since day one and never wavered for a second. Even when others did.
'You knew what we were capable of all along. You did it your way. And your way brought this club the best night it's had in decades. We will have those memories for life.
'You trusted me with the captaincy. One of the highest honours of my career. It's been an incredible privilege to learn from your leadership up close, I am a better player and a better person because of you.
'Ange Postecoglou, you are a Tottenham Hotspur legend forever.'
A Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust statement read: 'Our concern now is that it appears we will have yet another change of direction.'

The Nations League culminates in a high-profile clash between Iberian neighbours Portugal and Spain.
Both are looking for their second title in the competition, with European champions Spain bidding to retain their crown, while Cristiano Ronaldo has more silverware in his sights with Portugal.
Portugal have been buoyed by a rare win over Germany in the semi-finals, and Ronaldo said on uefa.com: '(We're) playing an amazing team, maybe the best in the world, but we're confident after what we did in our last tie. I hope we can rise to the occasion and win it.'

Mauricio Pochettino breaks silence on Tottenham return to replace Postecoglou
Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with a Tottenham return as they eye a new manager but the USA boss insists the timing is not right for him to head back to north London Mauricio Pochettino says a return to Tottenham is "not realistic" amid talk of a move back to north London as the club seek a successor to Ange Postecoglou - who was sacked on Friday. Europa League glory was not enough to save the former Celtic boss and the search has begun for a new manager. Thomas Frank is the leading candidate but Pochettino too has been linked with a move back to Tottenham, where he spent five years. Despite not winning a trophy the Argentine has been the most successful manager in the club's recent history, especially in terms of Premier League performance. He consistently had them in the top four and achieved a second place finish in 2017. He is now leading the USA with their home World Cup just over a year out and Pochettino insists any thought of a Tottenham return is not feasible right now. The 53-year-old said: 'After I left in 2019, every time that I was free, and the place of the position of the manager or head coach in Tottenham Hotspur, my name is appearing on the list. If you have seen the rumours, I think there are 100 coaches in the list. I think, don't be worried about that. 'If something happened, for sure you will see, but we cannot talk about this type of thing, because I think today, it's not real. It's not realistic. Look at where I am, where we are. And the thing is, the answer is so clear, no? But we're talking about it because it's my club, like Newells or Espanyol.' Tottenham have identified Frank as the man they want and the Dane appears equally as interesting in filling the vacancy. He's seen his stock rise throughout his time at Brentford and may feel the time is right to pursue a new challenge in the capital. Pochettino meanwhile has just seen his American side beaten 2-1 by Turkey in Connecticut. It was the team's third successive defeat which leaves the Argentine with five wins and four losses from nine matches in charge. The United States will host the World Cup for the first time since 1994 next summer. The Argentine, who was sacked by Tottenham just months after leading them to the Champions League final, has since held jobs at PSG and Chelsea.

I'm an Italy World Cup hero and Scott McTominay is my son's idol - Man United were crazy to sell him
The King of Naples has had a season he will never forget in Serie A with club side Napoli Marco Materazzi reckons Manchester United were 'crazy' to sell Scotland star Scott McTominay. And the legendary defender has revealed the Napoli ace is his own son's idol. The Italy World Cup hero is convinced the new King of Naples was the reason Antonio Conte's men got over the line as they tasted Serie A title glory and he is still in disbelief at the price tag they got the midfielder out of Old Trafford. McTominay - part of Steve Clarke's Scotland squad who head for a friendly at Liechtenstein - helped Napoli clinch the league by netting a sensational goal in the final game of the season. They pipped Materazzi's former club Inter Milan to the title and the 51-year-old - who was famously on the end of a Zinedine Zidane headbutt in the 2006 World Cup Final where he scored also Italy's equaliser as they lifted the trophy - is a huge fan of the Scotsman. He said: "To win Serie A, all Inter need is one or two good transfers. Look at Napoli signing Scott McTominay. That won it for them. "McTominay is my son's idol by the way! "I always felt Manchester United were crazy to let him leave and crazy for the transfer fee they got from him." McTominay was part of the Scotland team that suffered at the hands of Iceland on Friday night. He started alongside Napoli team-mate Billy Gilmour and Bologna's Lewis Ferguson in a Serie A midfield trio. But they couldn't help bring some cheer to the Tartan Army as the visitors ran out 3-1 winners at Hampden. The Dark Blues now head for minnows Liechtenstein in desperate need of a confidence boosting win ahead of the World Cup qualifying campaign later this year. Mauricio Pochettino rules himself out of contention for Tottenham job
Spurs are seeking a new head coach having sacked Postecoglou just 16 days after leading the club to Europa League glory, their first trophy in 17 years. United States boss Pochettino ended a five-year stay at Tottenham in November 2019, having helped Spurs reach the final of the Champions League that year. The Argentinian signed a two-year contract to become US head coach last September and is expected to lead the team into next year's home World Cup. Speaking after his side's 2-1 friendly defeat to Turkey in Connecticut, Pochettino told reporters: 'After I left in 2019, every time that I was free, and the place of the position of the manager or head coach in Tottenham Hotspur, my name is appearing on the list. 'If you have seen the rumours, I think there are 100 coaches in the list. I think, don't be worried about that. 'If something happened, for sure you will see, but we cannot talk about this type of thing, because I think today, it's not real. It's not realistic. 'Look at where I am, where we are. And the thing is, the answer is so clear, no? But we're talking about it because it's my club, like Newells or Espanyol.' Meanwhile Tottenham have exercised the 12-month option in Ben Davies' deal to keep him at the club for another season. Davies is Spurs' longest serving player after he joined in the summer of 2015 – two months before the arrival of Son Heung-min. Wales defender Davies has made 358 appearances for Tottenham and is set to work under his sixth permanent head coach at the club during the 2025-26 campaign after Postecoglou's dismissal on Friday. Brentford boss Thomas Frank has been installed as the bookmakers' favourite for the vacancy, but as of Saturday, Tottenham were yet to make an official approach for the Danish coach, the PA news agency understands.
