I'm a beauty writer — these are the Spring Prime Day deals I'm shopping
To help you navigate the sale, I combed through pages of discounts to find deals actually worth spending on. Not everything that's on sale is always a great deal, but as a beauty writer who frequently covers deals from Amazon, Ulta and Sephora, I know how to separate the lackluster discounts from ones that are truly worth shopping for.
This year, I found a few TikTok-popular brands that are currently on sale (like Biodance and Amika) so if you've been holding out on trying them, now's a great time to do so. Every item I highlighted below is at least 20% off and are NBC Select-staff favorites, expert-recommended products or highly rated items from brands I frequently report on.
Unlike Prime Day, Amazon's Big Spring Sale is available to everyone, including non-Prime members. If you see something you love or need restocking, act quickly since availability may change during the weeklong savings event.

EltaMD makes some of our favorite SPF, including this tinted sunscreen, which has broad-spectrum protection and ingredients like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. These two key ingredients are ones our experts recommend looking for in mineral sunscreens because they're keygreat for blocking out the sun and are gentle enough for those with sensitive skin. Since this is our favorite splurge-worthy neck cream, getting it on sale is a major win. 'It's incredibly thick, and one of those products I think actually lives up to the hype,' says NBC Select commerce editor Lindsay Schneider. 'It's normally pretty expensive so I definitely recommend getting it while it's on sale.' The cream combats crepey skin, fine lines and uneven tone and texture on your neck and decollete, according to the brand.
Laneige Lip Glowy Balm
4.7-star average rating from 29,828 reviews on Amazon

Amazon slashes £150 off Vax cleaning machine that ‘leaves the carpet like new'
One shopper said it was 'quite amazing' to see the 'almost black' water that's removed from the carpet with the machine, whilst another noted it's 'as easy to use as a vacuum cleaner' Pet owners have been rushing to snap up a carpet cleaning machine that's had £150 slashed off its price at Amazon. The Vax Smartwash Pet-Design Carpet Cleaner has been cut from £350 to £200 for a limited time only and it's already impressed thousands of homeowners and renters. The machine is ideal for households with pets thanks to its SmartWash Pet-Design that washes as users push forward and dries as it's pulled back. For dog and cat parents, the handy gadget also features a new Stubborn Stain Pre-Treatment Wand which loosens embedded dirt, making it ideal for those pesky paw prints. It isn't only pet owners who love the Vax Smartwash Pet-Design Carpet Cleaner, as it kills over 99% of odour-causing bacteria and is seven times more effective than vacuuming alone. The nifty gadget also boasts a function that leaves carpets dry in as little as an hour. Other carpet cleaning machines on the market include the Bissell SpotClean StainLift Portable Spot Carpet Cleaner which has been reduced from £100 to £84 at Argos. One shopper said: "I spilt coffee on a cream coloured carpet. This sorted it out. Recommended." Also at Amazon is Bissell's ProHeat 2 X Revolution Pet Pro Carpet Cleaner which usually retails for £300 but is now on sale for £249. It dries carpets in around 30 minutes after cleaning and also features a 3-in-1 upholstery tool which is ideal for cleaning sofas and chairs. Amazon shoppers have been raving about Vax Smartwash Pet-Design Carpet Cleaner ability to keep their carpets looking fresh. One said: "If you're wondering whether or not to by this, just do it, we've had carpets for 20 years and never been properly cleaned and we're thinking about new carpets. Decided to buy the Vax just to see if it made a difference, to say I was surprised is putting it mildly. Excellent machine and brought the carpets up like new, we bought the ultimate+ pet cleaner and it's 10/10. Easy to operate, just fantastic." With £150 off, now is a good time to invest in the Vax Smartwash Pet-Design Carpet Cleaner. Although the initial outlay of £200 is an investment, for shoppers who regularly rent carpet cleaning machines it could end up saving money in the long run. For example, at B&Q it costs £32.99 to rent a standard Rug Doctor Machine for 48 hours. This increases to £36.99 for the Widetrack option. To rent the standard machine just six times would cost £198 alone. Whilst many shoppers were impressed with the Vax Carpet Cleaner, one was not pleased with the suction, writing: "This is a great machine, and definitely leaves much cleaner carpets. However, the suction function is very temperamental and only works when it feels like it." Another took issue with how long their floors took to dry after use, saying: "Impressed with wash but takes too long for the carpets to dry." It's also worth noting that shoppers will need to purchase the cleaning solution separately. As someone who owns a carpet cleaning machine, I'd say if the carpets have particularly stubborn stains they often use a fair amount of the fluid whilst in use. Plenty of shoppers left the machine five star reviews however (78% of the total ratings were full marks), with one saying: "A brilliant easy to use machine. Mixes the water and solution automatically and leaves the carpet like new. As easy to use as a vacuum cleaner. Highly recommended, 5 stars." Another remarked: "Bought for my partner who is a clean freak at the best of times and had been hounding me about washing our carpets and wanted to hire a local guy who was charging £100 per room which sounded insane. We went for this machine and it's fantastic. Build quality is very high as expected with such a large well known brand. They continued: "It is very easy to set up and before you know it you are washing and cleaning your carpets. Not sure if it is just me but I found it very therapeutic and really enjoyed cleaning. It is really quite amazing at the colour of the water that is removed from the carpet, it's black almost and we didn't think they were that bad. The wash/dry function works perfectly and it really does take quite a lot of water out meaning your carpets take a lot less time to fully dry out. Really happy with the results that we have had from this."

Claims about number of wealthy non-doms exiting UK may be overblown
Claims of an exodus of wealthy 'non-doms' in response to tax rises may be overblown, according to a report that suggests that the number leaving the country is in line with official forecasts. In April the chancellor, Rachel Reeves, scrapped the non-domiciled tax status, which allowed wealthy individuals with connections abroad to avoid paying full UK tax on their overseas earnings. Since then a wave of reports has suggested that changes to the status and other tax policies are triggering an exodus of high net worth individuals. However, early monthly payroll data from HM Revenue and Customs appears to indicate that the number of non-dom departures are in line with official predictions, according to sources cited by the Financial Times The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) forecast in January that 25% of non-doms with trusts would leave the UK in response to the abolition of the tax status, while 10% of those without trusts would leave. Official data suggests that this prediction was broadly correct, people briefed on the findings told the FT. Jeremy Hunt, the chancellor's Conservative predecessor, first announced moves to phase out the 225-year-old non-dom status that protected overseas earnings from being taxed in exchange for a flat annual fee. However, Labour took the proposals a step further by replacing them with a regime that will include overseas assets in the UK's 40% inheritance tax rate. Many non-doms earn income from work or their pensions in the UK, which means they appear in the PAYE (pay as you earn) figures in the payroll data that businesses send to the tax office each month. If they fall off PAYE figures, that suggests that they have left the country. Sign up to Business Today Get set for the working day – we'll point you to all the business news and analysis you need every morning after newsletter promotion The FT reported that some of those briefed on early HMRC data said payroll figures suggested that fewer people were leaving than projected by the OBR, while others said the departures were in line with forecasts. The numbers do not capture the movements of those non-doms who do not work in the UK, which could include some of the richest, but with a shortage of reliable data they will provide some relief to Reeves amid a debate about whether the policy could backfire. Payroll data is now a more helpful indicator of potential non-dom movement as more than 120 days have passed since the start of the tax year, which started on 6 April. It is likely that anyone who did not want to be considered as a UK tax resident would have left the country. HMRC has said previously that it will not have official data on how many non-doms who earn UK income have left until January 2027, when people submit self-assessment tax returns for the year 2025-26. A government spokesperson said: 'If you make your home in Britain, then you should pay your taxes here too. That is why we abolished the non-dom tax status to invest in our public services, including the NHS. 'But the UK remains a highly attractive place to live and invest. Our main capital gains tax rate is lower than any other G7 European country and our new residence-based regime is simpler and more attractive than the previous one, whilst it also addresses tax system unfairness so every long-term resident pays their taxes here.'
