People Are Discussing The Most Heartbreaking Celebrity Deaths That They'll Absolutely "Never Get Over," And I'm Crying Real Tears Right Now

Buzz Feed24-04-2025

At the risk of sounding a bit parasocial, nothing hits quite as hard as a beloved celebrity's death, especially when it happens super unexpectedly. It's like the world stops turning for a moment.
And although these celebrity deaths are super sad to discuss, it also helps us fans feel united and comforted. So recently, we asked the BuzzFeed Community, "What celebrity death are you never going to get over?" Here's what people said:
1. Robin Williams died in 2014, at age 63.
"I still cry for him sometimes. Such a legend, such a tragic way to go."
– youngchipmunk74
"Everyone I know has a favorite Robin Williams movie, from my grandma all the way down to my friend's toddler. He was universally loved, and his was the only celebrity death that felt like I had lost a loved one.
– rnd13001
2. Matthew Perry died in 2023, at age 54.
"Matthew Perry is the first celebrity I actually grieved for. Being born in 1991, I literally grew up watching him on TV, and I really felt his loss. Especially because the circumstances were so horrible."
– Megan Donovan
3. Liam Payne died in 2024, at age 31.
"I was born the year One Direction started, was five when Zayn left, and was six when they went on an indefinite hiatus, so I'm more of a newcomer. However, I can say that I'm a big fan of their music and the boys themselves, so Liam's death hit me hard.
I will say that I was in disbelief the days following his (Liam's) death and was hoping it was all a bad dream. However, it's been months, and I've finally come to terms with the fact that it was NOT a nightmare."
– metallicvolcano835
4. George Michael died in 2016, at age 53.
"I'm old, but for me it will always be George Michael. My first ever pin-up, a super talented songwriter, and an absolute sweetheart of a man.
I did see him live once, and even though by that time I was a grown-ass adult, I cried several times. The absolute loss of my life."
5. Anthony Bourdain died in 2018, at age 61.
"I remember watching Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations on the Travel Channel, and he made me want to drop what I was doing and go see the world. He always found the best hidden spots to eat because he had the utmost respect for the people and cuisine of each location.
He just had this sincere, quiet vibe that was coated with a dry sense of humour. I wish he were still here to help us get through these dark days."
6. Naya Rivera died in 2020, at age 33.
"When I read about Naya Rivera, right from the onset of reports that she was missing, it hit hard. I was crying. I hardly watched Glee, but it was the tragedy itself, the way she died protecting her son and will never know that she in fact saved him."
– emmerzz0011
7. Natasha Richardson died in 2009, at age 45.
"I still can't believe how Natasha Richardson (Liam Neeson's wife, and the mom in The Parent Trap) died in such a freak way. Like, she got up and thought she was fine, only to pass hours later from a brain hemorrhage, I think it was."

"He was the first celebrity death that made me openly sob. That man made me laugh my way through high school. Now I'm going to put on a too-small coat and pretend to live in a van down by the river. RIP you brilliant human; thanks for everything."
– spicynothingbettertodo

NYT Connections today – my hints and answers for June 12 (#732)

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Looking for a different day? A new NYT Connections puzzle appears at midnight each day for your time zone – which means that some people are always playing 'today's game' while others are playing 'yesterday's'. If you're looking for Wednesday's puzzle instead then click here: NYT Connections hints and answers for Wednesday, June 11 (game #731). Good morning! Let's play Connections, the NYT's clever word game that challenges you to group answers in various categories. It can be tough, so read on if you need Connections hints. What should you do once you've finished? Why, play some more word games of course. I've also got daily Strands hints and answers and Quordle hints and answers articles if you need help for those too, while Marc's Wordle today page covers the original viral word game. SPOILER WARNING: Information about NYT Connections today is below, so don't read on if you don't want to know the answers. Today's NYT Connections words are… BOWLING WRESTLING MISSING DISHING SPOONING SIRING BUZZING SEWING LORDING SPILLING HUGGING DOCTORING SNUGGLING ACUPUNCTURING WHISPERING CUDDLING What are some clues for today's NYT Connections groups? YELLOW: Two become one GREEN: Tittle tattling BLUE: Think words that rhyme with weedle and sin PURPLE: Begin with honorifics Need more clues? We're firmly in spoiler territory now, but read on if you want to know what the four theme answers are for today's NYT Connections puzzles… What are the answers for today's NYT Connections groups? YELLOW: GETTING COZY GREEN: GOSSIPING BLUE: ENGAGING IN AN ACTIVITY WITH PINS OR NEEDLES PURPLE: STARTING WITH TITLES Right, the answers are below, so DO NOT SCROLL ANY FURTHER IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE THEM. The answers to today's Connections, game #732, are… YELLOW: GETTING COZY CUDDLING, HUGGING, SNUGGLING, SPOONING GREEN: GOSSIPING BUZZING, DISHING, SPILLING, WHISPERING BLUE: ENGAGING IN AN ACTIVITY WITH PINS OR NEEDLES ACUPUNCTURING, BOWLING, SEWING, WRESTLING PURPLE: STARTING WITH TITLES DOCTORING, LORDING, MISSING, SIRING My rating: Moderate My score: 1 mistake All of the _ING words in the grid made for a very baffling game today, but a couple of the groups were also designed to confuse. GETTING COZY was elementary enough, but I struggled to put together the green group. Correctly thinking it was about GOSSIPING, I included DOCTORING as I think of this as a phrase about making things up, which is what most gossip is (invented by PRs to benefit their client or by journalists to benefit their numbers). On my second go at it I included BUZZING only because of the vaguely gossipy Buzzfeed website, not because I'd ever heard of the term buzzing. Every day's a school day. Next, I knew that ACUPUNCTURING and SEWING were linked and saw the connection with BOWLING pins, but it wasn't until the game was long over that I realized why WRESTLING was part of the group, thanks to the many different types of pin moves from the Gannosuke Clutch to the Oklahoma Roll (yes, I am looking at Wikipedia). How did you do today? Let me know in the comments below. YELLOW: BOAST BLUSTER, CROW, SHOW OFF, STRUT GREEN: ARC-SHAPED THINGS BANANA, EYEBROW, FLIGHT PATH, RAINBOW BLUE: CEREAL MASCOTS COUNT, ELVES, LEPRECHAUN, ROOSTER PURPLE: WAYS TO DENOTE A CITATION ASTERISK, DAGGER, NUMBER, PARENS NYT Connections is one of several increasingly popular word games made by the New York Times. It challenges you to find groups of four items that share something in common, and each group has a different difficulty level: green is easy, yellow a little harder, blue often quite tough and purple usually very difficult. On the plus side, you don't technically need to solve the final one, as you'll be able to answer that one by a process of elimination. What's more, you can make up to four mistakes, which gives you a little bit of breathing room. It's a little more involved than something like Wordle, however, and there are plenty of opportunities for the game to trip you up with tricks. For instance, watch out for homophones and other word games that could disguise the answers. It's playable for free via the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.

USC's SoCal VoCals Are Pitch Perfect in ‘Just Sing' Documentary Trailer

For the University of Southern California's reigning a cappella group the SoCal VoCals, it isn't enough to just be pitch perfect. In the official trailer for the documentary Just Sing, directors Angelique Molina and Abraham Troen follow the group as they balance pressure and passion ahead of their final pre-graduation test at New York's International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella. The documentary will premiere at Tribeca Film Festival 2025 on June 6. 'One of the biggest misconceptions surrounding a cappella is that it's kind of Glee-esque, but it's so much more than that,' one student said in the clip. Another added: 'I think when I realized there was a whole group of people that, like, that was their nerd, I was like, 'Those are my people.'' More from Rolling Stone Turnstile Visual Album 'Never Enough' Will Premiere at Tribeca Film Festival 'Call Her Daddy' Host Alex Cooper Stars in New Doc Premiering at Tribeca Metallica, Billy Joel Docs, Miley Cyrus Visual Album Lead 2025 Tribeca's Music-Heavy Lineup There was an explosive moment in a cappella that followed the release of Pitch Perfect in 2012. It brought an element of cool to these competitions, but didn't diminish what it meant to the people competing. More than 600 groups and 12,000 students compete in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella, often referred to as the 'Super Bowl of song.' 'It has the potential to really transform someone's life,' one student said. 'For two years, we were immersed in the lives of our protagonists, embedded not only in the world of the SoCal VoCals but also within the broader realm of collegiate a cappella,' Molina and Troen shared in a statement via FilmFreeway. 'What might have seemed like a typical narrative of a prestigious a cappella group striving for a highly coveted trophy instead unfolded into a deeply personal exploration of young people navigating universal themes of identity, belonging, and self-expression. Through their shared passion for music, each member embarks on their own journey of self-discovery, ultimately finding and defining their own voice.' In the trailer, the SoCal VoCals can be heard running through Lady Gaga's 'The Edge of Glory' and Bob Dylan's 'The Times They Are A-Changin'.' Elsewhere in the film, the group performs tracks from Adele, Beyonce, Rosalía, Jon Batiste, Diana Ross, Chappell Roan, and Taylor Swift. Just Sing was produced by Sarah Thomson and John Battsek. The 2025 Tribeca Film Festival takes place June 4 to 15 in New York City.
