Glen Powell's Ex Makes Veiled Comments About How Sydney Sweeney Rumours Affected Relationship

Yahooa day ago

Glen Powell's ex, model Gigi Paris, has suggested that rumours about the actor and his Anyone But You co-star Sydney Sweeney contributed to their break-up.
Earlier this week, Gigi paid a visit to the Too Much podcast, where she spoke about a recent break-up.
While she didn't name Glen or Sydney by name, it's not difficult to piece together who she could be talking about in the interview when she spoke about how things turned sour in a past relationship.
Towards the end of her time with Glen, there was widespread speculation that he and Sydney had started dating while they were making their hit rom-com, which he later admitted they leaned into to help plug the film.
Gigi told Too Much: 'I had two options. I could either pretend like I was going along with everything and have everyone wonder, like, 'Are they hooking up? Are they not hooking up? Is she okay with this? What the fuck?'. Or stand up for myself and say, 'No, I'm actually not okay with this, and I'm walking away'.'
'So that's what I decided to do,' she added, saying she was left 'shattered' by the break-up.
'I just wanted respect, especially if it's gonna be public,' she explained. 'Like, don't make an ass out of me. Just don't make a fool out of someone you've been with for over three years talking about forever with. Just have some decency, you know?
'And at the end of the day, it was like, 'well, work comes first'. And if that's the case, power to you, that's your priority. I've got to walk away. What sucked was how it was handled. I felt like I was just fed to the dogs.'
Later in the interview, Gigi criticised her ex for not 'standing up and saying, 'no I would never cheat on my girlfriend''.
'That's all that needed to be said. And that wasn't said ... Never once,' she continued. 'It was serving them for their PR.
'Later on, it turned out that it was all… I don't know if there was a relationship there or not, but then they came out to say it was all a PR scheme at the expense of our relationship. It was just crazy.'
'I honestly hoped that they'd end up together, because I was like, at least it would make it worth it for me, you know? I hope they are in love or whatnot,' she admitted.
HuffPost UK has contacted Glen Powell's team for comment.
Glen and Gigi first became an item in 2019, confirming that they had split up four years later in 2023.
Anyone But You was released later that year, becoming a box office smash on both sides of the Atlantic, with Glen and Sydney still facing rumours about the nature of their relationship as recently as April.

Sydney Sweeney Reveals How Glen Powell Helped Her Bag Tate McRae Song Gig

Sydney Sweeney recently opened up about how her unexpected appearance on a Tate McRae song came about. While appearing on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the Anyone But You actress revealed that her co-star was the one who introduced her to McRae. This ultimately led to her feature on the track 'Miss Possessive.' Here's how Sydney Sweeney ended up on a Tate McRae song. Sydney Sweeney recently shared the backstory behind her unexpected feature on Tate McRae's song 'Miss Possessive.' She credited her Anyone But You co-star Glen Powell for making the connection happen. During a guest appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Clarkson asked how the collaboration happened and whether Sweeney already knew McRae. Sweeney admitted she had long admired McRae's work, saying, 'So, I have been a huge fan of her music. I think she's so beyond talented and she's so hot.' She went on to explain how collaboration came together after Powell acted as the go-between. According to Sweeney, 'Glen actually connected me with her. He was like, 'Hey, Tate wants me to connect you two. Can I give her your number?' I said, 'Yeah, sure.'' Following that introduction, McRae contacted Sweeney and asked her to send a voice recording for her upcoming album. The actress said, 'She reached out and was like, 'Hey, I really would love to sample your voice for a portion of my song on my new album. Would you be down?' And I'm like 'Hell yes.'' Sweeney saying, 'No, seriously, get your hands off my man,' became the opening line of the album's first track, 'Miss Possessive,' which appears on McRae's So Close to What. The moment quickly became a highlight for fans, who were surprised to hear Sweeney's voice on the song. Both Clarkson and Sweeney agreed that the collaboration was a 'cool' moment, with the actress clearly thrilled to be involved. The revelation arrived just as Powell's ex, Gigi Paris, appeared to break her silence about their breakup. Gigi Paris breaks silence on how Sydney Sweeney dating rumors fueled Glen Powell split

Gigi Paris breaks silence on how Sydney Sweeney dating rumors fueled Glen Powell split Show Caption Hide Caption Glen Powell reveals 'mental health' reason he left LA for Austin Glen Powell, while promoting his new film "Hit Man," tells USA TODAY's Brian Truitt why he moved back to Austin, Texas, from Los Angeles. If you were on the internet during the "Anyone but You" press tour, it was hard to make it two scrolls without running into a theory about Glenn Powell and Sydney Sweeney dating. The co-stars, both engaged to other people at the time, were being "shipped" left and right as photos emerged of the two on set looking cozy (a likely thing for two rom-com stars to be mid-shoot), and neither party opted to shut down the rumors. A time-honored tradition in Hollywood, the fervor around the possibility of a real-life romance drove box office sales for the fake romance. But it wasn't without collateral damage. Glen Powell admits Sydney Sweeney affair rumors 'worked wonderfully' for 'Anyone But You' In 2023, Powell and his fiancée, Gigi Paris, called it quits. Now, Paris is speaking out about how the movie contributed to their downfall. Speaking to host Emma Paige on the "Too Much" podcast June 10, Paris said she first became aware of the rumors online and told Powell, "the whole world is watching" and to "proceed with caution, please." He didn't receive that well, she said, and the relationship began to deteriorate from there. She revealed she was once scheduled to meet him in Australia, where "Anyone but You" was filming, when Powell called to tell her, "The producers and I have discussed that I think it's best that you don't come to visit." 'Anyone But You': Glen Powell calls Sydney Sweeney the 'Miss Congeniality of Australia' "I think that's when I just also fell out of love," she said, explaining that she broke it off with him shortly after, only to later learn that he and Sweeney had been encouraging the speculation to help with the film. "The two things that you have to sell a rom-com are fun and chemistry. Sydney and I have a ton of fun together, and we have a ton of effortless chemistry," Powell said in an interview with the New York Times that published a year after their split. "That's people wanting what's on the screen off the screen, and sometimes you just have to lean into it a bit — and it worked wonderfully. Sydney is very smart." "I don't know if there was a relationship there or not, but then they came out to say it was all a PR scheme at the expense of our relationship," Paris said on the podcast. "I just wanted respect, especially if it's going to be public," she continued, "Like, just don't make a fool out of someone you've been with for over three years, talking about forever with. Just have some decency." Sweeney has since split with fiancé Jonathan Davino, only adding fuel to the still-burning dating rumors between her and Powell.

Glen Powell's Ex Recalls Being 'Blindsided' By A Breakup Involving A 'PR Scheme'

Gigi Paris appears to be reflecting on her past relationship with actor Glen Powell with the benefit of hindsight. The model appeared on Tuesday's episode of the 'Too Much' podcast and spoke at length about her recent split from what host Emma Klipstein refers to as a 'boyfriend of four years,' though Powell is not identified by name. According to Paris, she and her ex began dating in the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, but found themselves at a crossroads when his career 'skyrocketed' once they began resuming their day-to-day life. 'I had no idea what I was getting myself into,' she explained. 'I am a family person. I like to be at home with my friends and my family, and I like things simple. But I was also really grateful to experience all that and go to such incredible places and see all the magic. But in seeing all of it, I also saw a lot of what it takes to kind of succeed in that world.' She went on to note: 'I felt like I was sacrificing a lot to show up and be there for that person, but I don't know if it was fully reciprocated in hindsight.' The breaking point, Paris said, came when her boyfriend chose to prioritize a 'PR scheme at the expense of our relationship.' 'I could either pretend like I was going along with everything and have everyone wonder, like: 'Are they hooking up? Are they not hooking up? Is she OK with this? What the fuck?'' she said. 'Or stand up for myself and say, 'No, I'm actually not OK with this, and I'm walking away.' So that's what I decided to do. It wasn't a way to monetize the breakup. It wasn't a way to twist the story around. I was shattered.' Though Paris notably refrained from identifying the people involved in this situation, she appeared to be describing the longstanding rumors of a romance between Powell and his 'Anyone but You' co-star Sydney Sweeney. Speaking to The New York Times last year, Powell acknowledged he and Sweeney ― who was engaged to producer Jonathan Davino at the time ― opted to 'lean into' their 'effortless chemistry' while promoting their film. To date, the two actors have not publicly confirmed a relationship. Nonetheless, Paris said she felt 'blindsided' by the experience. 'Don't make a fool out of someone you've been with for over three years, talking about forever with. Just have some decency, you know?' she said. 'And at the end of the day, it was like, 'Well, work comes first.' And if that's the case, power to you, that's your priority. I got to walk away.' Though Paris didn't clarify the status of her ex-boyfriend's relationship, she said she was hopeful that he and his co-star would 'end up together,' noting: 'I hope they are in love or whatnot.' 'I have heard so many different sides of the story. I have no confirmation of what actually happened,' she continued. 'I just know what my standards are. And for me, it just wasn't OK the way it was handled, period.' Though the exact timeline of their relationship remains unclear, Paris and Powell split in 2023 ― the same year 'Anyone but You' became a surprise hit at the box office. Speculation that Powell and Sweeney are dating began heating up again in April following news that Sweeney had called off her engagement to Davino. That same month, Powell confirmed Sweeney was a guest at his sister's Texas wedding, albeit not as his date. Listen to Gigi Paris's full interview on the 'Too Much' podcast here.
