Doha: Egypt and Qatar Received Hamas' Response to Ceasefire, Awaiting Israeli Response
Qatari Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari affirmed his country's commitment to cooperating with Egypt to exert all efforts to achieve positive outcomes for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. He stated that Egypt and Qatar received Hamas's response to the proposed ceasefire in Gaza, describing this response as "positive" and representing a near-identical image of what was previously agreed upon by the Israeli side. He noted that the Israeli response is still awaited.
The Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman indicated in a press conference on Tuesday that what Hamas agreed to yesterday is 98% consistent with the proposal of US envoy Steve Witkoff. He added that there are no real guarantees on the ground other than the commitment of both parties to implement the agreement. He emphasized that his country is cooperating with Egypt and international parties to achieve any form of ceasefire and allow the entry of aid into the Gaza Strip.

US-led coalition captures a senior Islamic State member in Syria - Region
A US-led coalition captured a senior member of the Islamic State group in northwest Syria on Wednesday, state media and a war monitor reported. It was not immediately clear if the man is the IS supreme leader. The US military did not respond to a request for comment by The Associated Press. The operation that included landing troops from helicopters occurred before dawn in Atmeh town near the Turkish border, and an IS commander known as Abu Hafs al-Qurayshi, an Iraqi citizen, was taken away while another Iraqi citizen was killed, according to the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The Observatory said the man captured had a French-speaking woman with him, and it was not immediately clear if she was taken by the U.S. force or by Syrian security forces who later cordoned the area. Two years ago, IS announced that a man called Abu Hafs al-Hashemi al-Qurayshi was named as its new leader after Turkish authorities killed his predecessor. Syrian state TV on Wednesday quoted an unnamed security official as saying the Iraqi man targeted in the operation is known as Ali, adding that his real name is Salah Noman. It said Noman was living in an apartment with his wife, son and mother. It said he was killed in the raid. There was no immediate clarification for the difference in names reported by state media and the war monitor. IS broke away from al-Qaida more than a decade ago and attracted supporters from around the world after it declared a so-called caliphate in 2014 in large parts of Syria and Iraq. Despite its defeat in Iraq in 2017 and in Syria two years later, IS militants still carry out deadly attacks in both countries and elsewhere. Al-Qurayshi is not the real name of IS leaders but comes from Quraish, the name of the tribe to which Islam's Prophet Muhammad belonged. IS claims its leaders hail from the tribe, and 'al-Qurayshi' is part of their nom de guerre. Follow us on: Facebook Instagram Whatsapp Short link:

Erdogan tells Putin Turkey backs Ukraine peace talks involving 'all parties': Presidency - War in Ukraine
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday informed his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin by phone that Turkey would support a process involving "all parties" for peace in Ukraine, the Turkish presidency said. Erdogan told Putin that "Turkey has sincerely strived for a just peace since the beginning of the war, and in this context, supports approaches aimed at establishing lasting peace with the participation of all parties," his office said in a statement. Turkey, which enjoys friendly ties with both its Black Sea neighbors, has hosted three rounds of peace talks between Ukraine and Russia since May. Ankara has often insisted on the protection of Ukraine's territorial integrity while shying away from Western sanctions on Russia. US President Donald Trump held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders in Washington on Monday, three days after his landmark encounter with Putin in Alaska. NATO head Mark Rutte called Erdogan on Tuesday by phone on his way back to Europe after that meeting, the Turkish presidency said. The pair discussed "Turkey's contribution to the peace process, as one of NATO's most important countries" and agreed to remain on close coordination, according to the presidency. They also exchanged views on feasible and sustainable security guarantees, the statement said, without further elaboration. Follow us on: Facebook Instagram Whatsapp Short link:
