Texas A&M takes care of Sam Houston, defeating the Bearkats 14-1 on Tuesday night
Texas A&M (17-15, 3-9 SEC) took care of business on the road against Sam Houston, who entered the game with eight wins. It was crucial for the Aggies not to slip up after defeating then No. 1-ranked Tennessee by a combined 26-9 in Saturday's doubleheader series win. However, a quick 1-0 deficit had fans worried that the team had fallen back into its inconsistent ways.
Starting on the mound, freshman Gavin Lyons, who ended up having a solid three-inning outing, allowed a solo home run before locking back in, and from then on, the Aggie bats came alive. Trailing heading into the third, Wyatt Hensler's single drove in Jace LaViolette, leading to Bear Harrison's RBI single and A&M breaking the game wide open in the fourth.
Every Aggie star contributed to the scoring column, as Caden Sorrell, Harrison, and Kaeden Kent increased the Aggies' lead to 5-1. At the same time, the much-maligned Blake Binderup, who started in place of the injured Gavin Kash, recorded an RBI double to cap off a five-run fourth inning.
Home runs weren't needed against the Bearkats, as the Aggies added seven more runs in the fifth, sixth, and seventh frames before forcing the run rule, which has been a common theme during midweek games this season. Nearly every starter produced at the plate, but Caden Sorrell and Wyatt Henseler's 3-3 showing is what's needed moving forward.
However, freshman Terrence Kiel continues to impress, recording two hits while his defense continues to shine. After Lyons was relieved on the mound, Caden McCoy, Clayton Freshcorn, Luke Jackson, and Brad Rudis recorded 10 strikeouts, blanking the Bearkats for another solid performance from the bullpen.
The Aggies took care of business with South Carolina looming, and as we know, confidence and momentum is everything, and tonight's performance is a good sign of what we should see this weekend.
Texas A&M will host South Carolina starting Thursday, April 10, at 7:00 p.m. CT.

A.J. Brown says he's hungry for more after seeing his banner get displayed at The Linc

A.J. Brown says he's hungry for more after seeing his banner get displayed at The Linc Philadelphia All-Pro WR A.J. Brown expresses his hunger for more after the Eagles displayed his banner on the side of Lincoln Financial Field. A.J. Brown didn't rest on his laurels after winning Super Bowl 59. He chose to get right back into the gym and take his skills to another level as the Birds look to repeat as Champions. Brown recently traveled to the most "dangerous gym in America" to test his mind, body, and spirit. Brown is taking things to another level, and that means taking second-year wide receiver Ainias Smith under his wing. Recently, Brown and Smith ran the steps at Lincoln Financial Field, followed by Brown giving the versatile pass catcher from Texas A&M advice on "visualizing your goals' and "manifesting your success." Brown's words are powerful and can resonate with anyone regardless of what phase of life you're currently embarking on. While talking to Smith, Brown told the second-year wide receiver that seeing himself up on a fresh, new banner outside the stadium has left him hungry for more. Brown is having a great off-season, and in Pro Football Focus's ranking of the top 32 NFL wide receivers, landed the top spot, with DeVonta Smith in the top 20. Despite missing three games due to injury, A.J. Brown led the team with 1,079 receiving yards. He also ranked 1st in receiving average (16.1) (min. 60 catches) and 3rd in receiving yards per game (83.0) (min. 13 games), behind Ja'Marr Chase (100.5) and Justin Jefferson (90.2). Smith posted a career-high 8 TDs in the regular season and hauled in a 46-yard TD in Super Bowl LIX. During the run to the Super Bowl, he became the franchise's all-time leader in postseason receiving yards (595).
