International College of Bishops Proclaims New Name for CEEC.CHURCH
'We chose the name Confessing Anglican Church to show the world we still believe the creeds matter.'— Archbishop Vijay Raju, the Bishop Primus
JACKSONVILLE, FL, UNITED STATES, August 4, 2025 / EINPresswire.com / -- In an era of doctrinal drift and moral ambiguity within the broader Anglican landscape and many elements of the church at large, our International College of Bishops has discerned the need for renewed clarity, fidelity, and public witness and chosen to speak loudly and clearly. Accordingly, the Continuing Evangelical Episcopal Communion (CEEC) will, effective 18 August 2025, assume its new identity as The Confessing Anglican Church.
This name change arises from a pastoral and ecclesial imperative: to distinguish our Communion clearly amidst the confusion caused by numerous ecclesial bodies bearing the same acronym. With over a dozen entities sharing the 'CEEC' initials, unity of identity and clarity of mission demand an unmistakable name—one that bears theological weight, historical integrity, and prophetic clarity.

Honoring a Legacy of Faithful Confession
The adoption of the name Confessing Anglican Church is neither cosmetic nor superficial—it is deeply symbolic. It intentionally echoes the faithful witness of the Confessing Church in Germany during the 1930s, where leaders such as Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Martin Niemöller, and Karl Barth stood against theological compromise and state-imposed ideology. They bore bold witness to:
• The exclusive Lordship of Christ over His Church
• The inviolable authority of Holy Scripture and the historic creeds
• The rejection of any politicization or distortion of the Gospel
The term 'Confessing' powerfully signifies our dedication to the ancient creeds—Apostles', Nicene, and Athanasian—in defiance of the prevailing currents of heresy and secularization. It asserts our refusal to allow contemporary heresies to distort the faith once delivered to the saints.
'We chose the name Confessing Anglican Church to show the world we still believe the creeds matter,' says Archbishop Vijay Raju, the Bishop Primus.

The Confessing Anglican Church embraces all three historic roots of Christian identity:
• SACRAMENTAL LIFE — Celebrating Christ's redeeming grace through the liturgies of the Book of Common Prayer, and administering the holy sacraments under the authority of bishops in valid apostolic succession.
• EVANGELICAL WITNESS — Proclaiming salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and the freedom his new creation brings, with the holy Scriptures as the supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct, interpreted through the lenses of two millennia of historic tradition and sanctified reason.
• PENTECOSTAL POWER — Embracing the dynamic work of the Holy Spirit in His gifts, fruit, and sanctifying presence as He poured out at the birth of the Church on the day of Pentecost, empowering the Church for both mission and holiness.
This tri-fold identity is not eclecticism, but catholic fullness—a Church breathing with both lungs, ancient and alive.
Our Mission: Serve by Giving, Receiving, and Sending
As The Confessing Anglican Church, we pledge ourselves afresh to the Great Commission through a threefold ecclesial commitment:
• GIVING strength to the faithful—welcoming individuals into vibrant, sacramental communities where discipleship allows their gifts to be nurtured, their faith deepened, and their lives offered in service to Christ.
• RECEIVING churches, dioceses, clergy, and laity from across the Anglican world and beyond who affirm the historic doctrines, discipline, and sacraments of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church—offering catechesis, formation, ecclesial fraternity and episcopal covering.
• SENDING forth Spirit-filled leaders, ordained and lay, to proclaim the Gospel, plant churches, disciple nations, and bear witness to the Kingdom in every place to which the Lord calls them.

Canonical and Legal Considerations
In keeping with an Anglican ecclesial precedent—one that has worked well for the Free Church of England and the Reformed Episcopal Church since 1873—the legal designation of the Communion will be: 'The Confessing Anglican Church, otherwise known as the Continuing Evangelical Episcopal Communion.' The full name will appear on formal documents and legal registrations. However, in all missional, liturgical, and digital communications, we will be known solely and publicly as the Confessing Anglican Church.

A Final Word
In the spirit of the ancient Church and the Reformers alike, we raise a public confession—not of novelty, but of fidelity. In an age where ecclesiastical identity is too often swayed by pragmatism or progressivism, we reaffirm our steadfast resolve:
'We are not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation.'
—Romans 1:16
We choose to adhere to an expression of the Gospel that is neither polluted nor diluted.
May this renewed name mark the beginning of a new season of faithfulness, unity, and courageous witness.
+ Soli Deo Gloria

Three people, including child, escape Wilton Manors house fire
Three people, including a child, are safe after a fast-moving fire damaged their Wilton Manors home early Monday morning. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue said just before 6 a.m. they received 911 calls about the fire on NE 27 Street near NE 17 Terrace. When firefighters arrived, they found flames burning on the side of the home where it is connected to the electrical power. The flames had reached the home's attic, which fire rescue said complicated efforts to put it out. Another complication, according to fire rescue, is that it took an hour and a half to shut down power to the home. Just after 8 a.m., firefighters were able to extinguish it. Fire rescue said the family who lives in the home were able to make it out and no injuries were reported. However, due to the fire's damage, they will have to find a temporary place to stay and the Red Cross is assisting them with that. What sparked the fire is under investigation.

Plans for $48M Palm Beach County animal shelter will help reach goal of zero euthanizations
Palm Beach County's animal shelter still euthanizes animals, but at a much lower rate than in previous years. Jan Steele, the director of Animal Care & Control, recently appeared before county commissioners to discuss the agency's operation. Among the topics discussed was the euthanization rate. The shelter would rather not kill any animal, but sometimes it has no choice, Steele said. The county shelter, unlike private ones, must accept any animal that is dropped off, she noted. Some have behavioral problems; others are sick. Efforts to find those animals adoptive homes pose a challenge. There is also a space problem. The facility, along Belvedere Road west of Florida's Turnpike in suburban West Palm Beach, is over capacity. As of July 20, the facility had 193 dogs with only enough space for 144. It had 172 cats with space for 100 Pets had to be either doubled or tripled up or housed in temporary crates while calls are placed to other shelters to take some of the animals. 'We need to have four or five kennels available to accommodate law enforcement,' Steele said. Once all options are exhausted, animals are put on the proposed euthanasia list, which Steele and a veterinarian review. Nonetheless, Steele noted, the agency has significantly improved its release rate, the percentage of animals released from the shelter without having to be euthanized. In 2023, the release rate was 86%. Five years earlier, it was just 69%. In 2013, more than 9,300 animals had to be killed; the figure was 1,221 in 2024. A taste of Royal Palm Beach: Decadent Cuban sandwiches, savory bowls of pho, even oxtail How has Animal Control cut back on its euthanization rates? Steele said the community is more aware of what is being done at the shelter, which provides for nearly 10,000 animals each year. More people are volunteering. And the county has expanded its offering of free sterilizations for both cats and dogs. The agency has also increased the number of community partners that take in pets at the shelter. The county had hoped to meet its goal of zero euthanizations in 2024. In 2014, county commissioners adopted a resolution that set a goal of ending euthanasia of all adoptable dogs and cats by that year. Recognizing that was not going to happen, the county extended the deadline for 'The Countdown to Zero' animal kills by an additional 10 years. MORE: Animal Care and Control is getting a new $48M facility with needed air-conditioned kennels The county has approved plans to build a new facility for Animal Care & Control. Construction is expected to begin sometime this winter. The facility's $48 million facelift will more than double its size and include air-conditioned kennels. It will allow for more animals to be accommodated. Steele noted that sick animals will be housed in a quarantine-isolation facility, allowing for veterinary care to be provided at a higher level. 'We will not have to euthanize pets simply because there's no place to house them,' she said. Mike Diamond is a journalist at The Palm Beach Post, part of the USA TODAY Florida Network.
