A former Manchester City favourite is now worth a whopping £20million after becoming a business mogul.
Sun Jihai made history during his six-year City career, becoming the first player from China to play in the Premier League and then the first player from East Asia to score in the English top flight when he netted against Birmingham City in October 2002.
That came months after his arrival at the club, who won promotion to the Premier League under Kevin Keegan that year. It wasn't long before Jihai won over supporters with his total commitment on the pitch, clocking in 151 appearances before his exit in summer 2008, coinciding with Sheikh Mansour's takeover.
The full-back's last City game was the infamous 8-1 thrashing by Middlesbrough at the end of 2007/08 season. A brief spell at Sheffield United followed before he returned to China in 2009, playing for several clubs and retiring in 2016.
He elected not to go down the route of coaching and management. Instead, Jihai became a successful businessman, co-founding HaiQui [HQ] Sports, a sports data company, which set out to provide "datatainment" to fans.
The tech company's other projects included a talk show that Jihai appeared on, a sports app called MiaoHi and a match prediction tool called Jihai App.

Jihai has turned his venture into a roaring success, attracting major investments from huge companies, including China Media Capital (CMC), which purchased a 13% stake in City back in 2015.
Intrigued by the MiaoHi app – a sports video platform that enables stars and fans to connect – CMC, a company worth £60billion, chose to invest in the business. That investment, along with burgeoning interest in his other projects, has propelled Jihai's net worth to over £20million, according to PeopleWorthWiki.
Despite his stratospheric rise in the business world post-retirement, Jihai still remembers his City days with great affection. Reliving an iconic goal against Birmingham in conversation with ex-colleagues Nedum Onuoha and Paul Dickov on City's website last year, he said the memory still triggers "goosebumps."

On his move to City, he said: "Before I came to City, I didn't know the club. I only knew about United.

"City were in the second division, now the Championship. The agent told me we will go to the Premier League very soon. There were only two months of the season left. I was thinking, 'OK, second division, no problem, I'll join then.'
"I had spent a season at Crystal Palace [in 1998/99] and I was always thinking I would like to go back to England. The Premier League, that was the league I wanted to play in."

For sure – Marcus Rashford would relish playing with Lamine Yamal at Barcelona
Rashford, 27, signed a five-year contract with Manchester United in 2023, but spent the second half of the recently concluded Premier League campaign on loan at Aston Villa and his future under Ruben Amorim – who had left him out of several squads – remains uncertain. The forward opened up about his ambitions in an interview with Spanish influencer Javi Ruiz which was shared by BBC Sport. Asked if he would like to be team-mates with Barca's 17-year-old scoring sensation Yamal, Rashford said: 'Yes, for sure. Everyone wants to play with the best. Hopefully… we'll see.' Barcelona sporting director Deco in May told Catalan radio station RAC1 that the club 'like' Rashford. Rashford added: 'It's difficult to put into words what (Yamal) is doing because he's not supposed to be doing that at 16 or 17. I don't think we've seen that before.'

Kevin De Bruyne tells Antonio Conte to sign England star in blow to Man Utd
Kevin De Bruyne has told Antonio Conte to bring his former Manchester City teammate Jack Grealish to Napoli in a potential transfer blow to Manchester United. De Bruyne's move to Serie A champions Napoli was confirmed earlier this month following the Belgian's exit from Manchester City. The 33-year-old established himself as one of the greatest midfielders in Premier League history during his decade-long spell at the Etihad Stadium. Despite already signing Man City legend De Bruyne, Napoli have expressed interest in signing a number of other Premier League stars this summer. Conte is keen to strengthen his squad to boost Napoli's chances of defending the Serie A title and competing in the Champions League. Manchester City's Grealish and Manchester United's Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho have all emerged as targets for the Italian club. Sancho and Garnacho are believed to be keen on move to Naples after being deemed surplus to requirements by Old Trafford boss Ruben Amorim. Ex-Chelsea loanee Sancho was hoping to earn a permanent move to Stamford Bridge but the Blues instead paid £5m in compensation to send him back to United. Garnacho has also been linked with Chelsea after being put up for sale by decision-makers at Manchester United. But Napoli are only expected to sign one of Sancho, Garnacho or Grealish and De Bruyne is making the case for his old teammate. According to The Sun, Conte has been asking De Bruyne about Grealish's credentials and has received a glowing reference from the Belgium international. Man City spent a record-breaking £100m to sign Grealish from Aston Villa in 2021 but the 29-year-old is expected to leave following a frustrating 2024-25 campaign. Grealish struggled for game-time under Pep Guardiola and was then left out of Manchester City's Club World Cup squad. Tottenham are believed to be the current favourites to sign Grealish but De Bruyne is doing everything he can to bring him to Naples. Grealish accepts a move is necessary to revive his career and boost his chances of being included in Thomas Tuchel's England squad for next summer's World Cup. Asked about Grealish's future at the Etihad Stadium last week, Guardiola said: 'He had a conversation with the club and [we] decided [what was for] the best. 'Jack is an exceptional player. The only reason why he didn't play last season is of course my decision. We decide that he has to play. The club was honest, he was honest. 'Incredible love and respect [for him] and we decide the best is to stay [behind] and have a place [at home] that he can feel like he can come back to be the player like he was in the year of the treble or all his career in Aston Villa. More Trending 'Without him it would have been more difficult in the year of the treble [2022-2023]. The fact is in the last two seasons he didn't play much minutes. 'He has to come back to play and have the butterflies in his stomach that he can play every three days and show again the quality he has.' Asked if believed Grealish's future lied away from Man City, Guardiola added: 'I don't know. 'Now we decide don't come here and what happens I don't know in the end. If we don't find [another solution], he's a player for Man City and he will be back.' For more stories like this, check our sport page.
