Titans "probably not" exercising Traylon Burks option for 2026
The deadline for teams to exercise their fifth-year options on the contracts of 2022 first-round picks is in a couple of days and the Titans don't have a difficult one to make.
Wide receiver Traylon Burks was the team's first-round pick that year and the team has undergone serious changes since that point. They have a different head coach, they've changed General Managers twice and Chad Brinker has become the team's president of football operations.
That kind of tumult speaks to how rough the last few years have been for the Titans and Burks has struggled along with the team. He's played 27 of a possible 51 games since being drafted and he has 53 catches for 699 yards and a touchdown, which is why Brinker said at a Monday press conference that the team is set to pass on Burks's $15.493 million option.
'We're still discussing all that, but, yeah, probably not,' Brinker said.
Burks tore his ACL during the 2024 season and Brinker said 'Treylon's rehabbing, he's working, he's trying to get back' when asked about his status on Monday.

Their lack of perimeter defense was exposed in this year's NBA playoffs versus the Minnesota Timberwolves, and they will need to get creative with their limited resources. Austin Veazey of Sports Illustrated suggested that they make an attempt to sign Amir Coffey away from the Los Angeles Clippers. Via Sports Illustrated: "One player the Lakers could look to target is LA Clippers wing Amir Coffey," Veazey wrote. "When you have playmakers and scorers as talented as [Luka] Dončić and LeBron James, surrounding them with shooting and positional versatility matters. Coffey is coming off his best season in his six years in the NBA, averaging a career-high 9.7 points per game in 72 appearances while shooting 40.9 percent from 3 on 3.4 attempts per game. "With Coffey listed at 6-foot-7, he can slot in about anywhere on the wing, and shouldn't be too expensive. He's coming off a three-year, $11 million contract extension with the Clippers and should be gettable for around the same price, despite being mentioned as one of the top available small forwards in free agency." It is very unlikely the Lakers could count on Coffey becoming a starter for them. But he could provide some serviceable minutes off the bench, especially if Dorian Finney-Smith, who can opt out of his contract this summer, leaves, or they trade Rui Hachimura in order to land a more important piece. Coffey, who will turn 28 years of age on Tuesday, has become a regular part of the Clippers' rotation over the last few years after going undrafted in 2019. He started to prove he could play during the 2021-22 season when Kawhi Leonard was out with an ACL injury by averaging 9.0 points in 22.7 minutes a game and hitting 37.8% of his 3-point attempts that season. He made $3.9 million this season, and his contract is about to expire.

Rams waive former Georgia CFP hero The Los Angeles Rams have waived former Georgia Bulldogs cornerback Derion Kendrick after three seasons. Kendrick was a sixth-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft. Georgia had a record-breaking 15 players selected in the 2022 draft. Kendrick developed into a productive player for the Rams. He started 18 of 32 games during his first two seasons with Los Angeles. However, he tore his ACL during the first week of training camp in 2024, which forced him out for the entire 2024 season. Now, Kendrick is looking to comeback from his ACL injury, but he'll have to find another NFL team first. Kendrick posted 14 pass deflections, 92 tackles and one interception during his first two years in the NFL. He has the ability to start at outside cornerback and should find a new team relatively soon as long as he's healthy. Kendrick played the first three seasons of his college career at Clemson before transferring to Georgia for the 2021 season. The talented cornerback intercepted four passes including two in the College Football Playoff semifinals against Michigan in his lone season at Georgia, which ended in a national championship victory over Alabama. Waiving Kendrick saves the Rams $3.4 million in cap space. Kendrick was participating in OTAs with the Rams before his release. He injured his ACL in late July 2024, so he's had almost a year to recover. The Rams are down to just three former Georgia Bulldogs now. Los Angeles has quarterbacks Matthew Stafford and Stetson Bennett along with offensive lineman Warren McClendon on their roster.
