Robbie Williams 'nominated for knighthood' for music and charity work
The Let Me Entertain You singer could be on his way to becoming a Sir after being recommended to the honours committee for his services to music and charity.
Robbie, 51, is level with The Beatles with 15 chart-topping albums in the UK and was also responsible for the creation of the charity football match Soccer Aid in 2006, which has since raised £106 million for UNICEF.
The former Take That star - who has won a record 18 BRIT Awards during his career - is also a patron of Music Support, a charity that helps those in the industry who are suffering with addiction and mental health problems.
BBC Radio 2 breakfast DJ Scott Mills believes that a knighthood would be a much-deserved honour for Robbie, who has struggled with mental health, alcoholism and drug use in the past.
The broadcaster told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre column: "I think Robbie should be knighted, 100 per cent. For his contribution to music alone.
"Let's not forget, he's the most decorated BRITS winner in history. I think we should celebrate and acknowledge how much joy he has brought.
"He deserves it. Not only for his contribution to music, but also for fighting his demons in the public eye and coming out the other side.
"He should be acknowledged for his honesty and bravery. He really is a role model."
It is now down the honours committee to decide if Robbie will be knighted as they send a shortlist of recommendations to be signed off by UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and King Charles.
Meanwhile, Robbie confessed recently that he felt "anxious" about getting on stage for his Britpop Tour that got underway last month and explained that his wife Ayda Field had to calm him down in rehearsals.
He said: "I turned to my wife in rehearsals and said: 'Babe, I'm anxious about this.'
"She said, 'Rob, you behave like this is normal, you behave like you have to do this for the rest of your life, you behave like stadiums is where you should be.'"
The Angels singer - who has children Teddy, 12, Charlie, 10, Coco, six, and four-year-old Beau with Ayda - explained that his "perception" of things was altered in that moment.
Robbie said: "In that moment, my perception changed.
"I might be in sniper's alley — but I believe I have got a lot longer on this runway to go.
'I look forward to getting even older with you and I look forward to seeing you at many shows to come, whatever size venue that is."

Robbie Williams has announced his most intimate show to date at London's Dingwalls. The 51-year-old singer will take to the stage at the iconic Camden music venue for a one off performance on October 9 to celebrate the release of his upcoming album Britpop, which will drop the following day. Gary Oldman: 'World has gone to s***' since David Bowie died
Gary Oldman believes the "world's gone to s***" since David Bowie died. The Slow Horses actor had been friends with the Ziggy Stardust rocker for years before he died of cancer in January 2016 and not only does he miss having his pal around, he thinks things have "fell apart" in wider society since David's passing. He told The Hollywood Reporter: 'Don't you feel that since he died, the world's gone to shit? It was like he was cosmic glue or something. When he died, everything fell apart. 'I miss him. Occasionally, I'll see something, it'll make me laugh, and I'll think, 'God, I wonder what Dave would have made of this', or 'Oh, that would have made him laugh'.' Gary, 67, recalled how his friend taught him to keep pushing outside of his comfort zone in order to do his best work. Asked what he'd learned from the Space Oddity singer, he said: "To push the boat out. David always said, 'When you're wading out into the water and you can feel the sand beneath your feet, you feel safe and calm. But if you just go a little bit farther where your feet don't quite touch the bottom, you'll be in a place where you can do your best work.' "We laughed a lot — a lot. He was very, very, very funny, David. And we sort of had similar kinds of backgrounds, grew up in similar neighbourhoods. So we had that connection. "But he was always pushing the envelope. He reinvented himself and his music many times. He was inspiring because he was a great innovator and not afraid to try things. It's nothing conscious, but that rubs off." Shortly after David passed away, Gary appeared at the BRIT Awards to pay tribute to his friend. Accepting the Icon Award on his late pal's behalf, he said: 'Over his career, David challenged and changed our understanding of the medium, whether in music or in life, he emphasised originality, experimentation, exploration. And in his very unique way, he also reminded us to never take ourselves too seriously. 'He was the sweetest soul ever, with the best cheekbones, until it was done. David, you were mortal, but your potential was superhuman, and your remarkable music is living on. We love you, and we thank you.' Last year, the Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy actor hilariously revealed David's final words to him were "F*** off" as he struggled with some technological issues. Gary said on The Drew Barrymore Show: 'We were Skyping, and you know you wanna disconnect with someone? Sometimes you wanna disconnect and you can't, and they keep coming back. James Gunn plays coy on Margot Robbie's DC future
James Gunn is keeping fans guessing when it comes to Margot Robbie's return as Harley Quinn. The Barbie star has become synonymous with the chaotic charm of Harley Quinn, having portrayed the anti-heroine in three major DC films: 2016's Suicide Squad, 2020's Birds of Prey, and 2021's The Suicide Squad. But as the DC Universe undergoes a major overhaul under Gunn's leadership, Robbie's future in the franchise remains uncertain. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Gunn - who now serves as CEO and Co-Chairman of DC Studios - was asked directly whether Robbie would reprise her role. He teased: 'That will be revealed down the line." While Gunn remained tight-lipped about Harley, he did hint at plans for another Suicide Squad alum: Idris Elba's Bloodsport, adding: 'I definitely am always looking for a place to put Bloodsport and figuring that out. Andrew Mittman and Tommy Harper are also producing with Kai Dolbashian as executive producer. However, Variety reports that Flynn exited the project due to other commitments after writing a first draft of the screenplay and the producing team is currently searching for a new writer. Robbie's involvement would depend on the final version of the script. Robbie is also set to produce the Ocean's prequel through her LuckyChap Entertainment banner and will also star in the movie alongside her Barbie castmate Ryan Gosling.
