Inverness Caley Thistle still at risk of demotion, warn BDO
Inverness Caledonian Thistle's joint administrators warn the club remains at risk of being demoted - despite Saturday's crucial win over Arbroath.BDO was appointed in October to oversee ICT's finances and also find a new owner after the club ran up large debts.Inverness' 3-0 victory ensured the League 1 club avoided a potential end-of-season relegation battle.But BDO said shareholders now needed to agree to terms set out by Alan Savage, the preferred bidder to buy the club, to prevent the deal from falling through.
Mr Savage's conditions include that 100% of voting shares transfer to him.He has also asked that all loan creditors be written off, and that an agreement is reached on ownership of land around the stadium.
BDO said a meeting on 22 May could lead to ICT exiting administration.A spokesperson said: "However, these conditions need to be in place prior to the meeting and we would encourage all shareholders in particular to complete and return their stock transfer forms as soon as possible."We would remind any shareholder who may be minded not to agree to the proposal that this may result in the offer being withdrawn, the assets sold to another entity and the club - should it survive - being demoted outside of the league structure."The spokesperson added that if this happened all shares could eventually end up being "redundant".
BDO congratulated the team on Saturday's win and said it was something everyone at the club should be proud of.Inverness had been facing the threat of relegation after it was deducted 15 points by the league as punishment for its financial situation.But the team has taken club from the bottom of the league to seventh place.Saturday's away game against Montrose will be ICT's last game of this season.
BDO's warning has come as a proposal to take Inverness' League 1 rivals Dumbarton out of administration and pay their creditors in full has collapsed.On 15 April, administrators Quantuma announced a deal with Oxford-based Gareth Phillips that would wipe out the club's debt, with working capital made available for next season.Now it ha said that Mr Phillips had withdrawn his offer due to ill-health.Quantuma said "other credible parties" remained interested in taking over the club.

Both companies on Monday had obtained regulatory nod to proceed. JVSPAC is a publicly listed shell that raises funds to merge with a private entity. WHY IS IT IMPORTANT Upon listing, the combined company will operate as Hotel101 and will become the first Philippine-owned company to be listed and traded on Nasdaq, which the CEO says will help it with its international expansion. DETAILS Singapore-headquartered Hotel101 builds and operates hotels with standardized, 21 square metre rooms that it sells individually to investors. Its asset-light business model generates revenue first from room sales and then from the recurring income from day-to-day hotel operations. KEY QUOTES: "This whole process of becoming a Nasdaq-listed company has really allowed us to really have that global credibility as we expand the brand to 25 countries in the near term," Yulo-Luccini said. "Other than the Saudi JV, we're actually working on five more hotel JVs."

Based on insights from hundreds of compliance and surveillance professionals worldwide, the Industry Insights: Compliant Communications Report 2025 leverages this data to track key compliance trends, with findings including: A third of EMEA-based firms are already using AI for compliance – and for those that aren't yet, 71.4% intend to introduce it in the next year, compared to only 43.7% of North American firms Just 31.7% of EMEA-based respondents think that banning certain communications channels is an effective compliance solution, compared to the 50.6% of NA respondents who believe they work EMEA-based firms are much more likely to enable and monitor all communications channels, with over half (52.4%) of firms doing so compared to just 31.2% of NA firms There has been a considerable drop in respondents struggling to get staff to stick to compliance policies, down to just 29.5% compared to 61.5% in 2023 EMEA-based firms are leading the way with AI adoption for compliance use cases, coming as little surprise given that the EU AI Act provides a world-first regulatory guardrail for AI development. Coupled with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)'s recent commitments to support AI innovation, the U.K. and Europe are presenting firms with a permissive environment when it comes to AI. 'Recent technological advances in AI are moving the needle quickly when it comes to adoption, although AI is still generally perceived as difficult, expensive, and only marginally effective for risk detection use cases,' explains Don McElligott, Vice President, Compliance Supervision, Global Relay. 'It will be very interesting to see if adoption numbers increase as organizations realize the value and availability of effective AI solutions.' Given the tempo of regulatory enforcements and punitive fines for off-channel communications over the last four years in the U.S., it's unsurprising that NA firms are taking a more cautious approach to communications compliance and are more likely to believe that banning channels is an effective solution that eliminates potential risk and avoids regulatory scrutiny entirely. 'It's very interesting to see that a surprisingly high number of firms are enabling the use of communications channels like WhatsApp, as conventional wisdom suggests the majority prohibit it,' says Rob Mason, Director, Regulatory Intelligence at Global Relay. 'Since our 2023 report, we have seen the dial shift away from channel bans and towards communicating compliantly throughout the finance industry, and firms, their employees, and even regulators will no doubt continue to see the benefits of a more permissive, collaborative compliance environment.'
