Gastonia police looking for missing 84-year-old man

The Gastonia Police Department is asking for the public's help in finding a missing 84-year-old man.
Thomas Alexander Waterson was last seen leaving Kinmere Drive in a gold 2017 Ford Escape, with the N.C. tag TVM1239 and a dent on the front driver's side fender, GPD said.
Waterson was wearing a blue and white plaid shirt, navy blue jeans, and white Nike sneakers with red and blue stripes, detectives said.

Waterson could be suffering from a cognitive impairment, GPD said.
He's described as around 5 feet 10 inches, weighs approximately 127 pounds, and has gray hair and blue eyes. He wears glasses and a watch with a brown band and blue casing, police said.
Waterson could be in Cherryville, GPD said, and could also be traveling towards Fallston.
Anyone with information about Waterson's whereabouts is asked to call Detective D. Whitlock at the Gastonia Police Department at 704-866-6702.

Officers have arrested a group of shoplifting suspects after two different police chases in the Sacramento area last week. Folsom police say, on Aug. 14, officers at the Folsom Premium Outlets spotted a group of three suspects who were allegedly shoplifting from the Nike store. The suspects ran as officers closed in, first going through a restaurant and then into a vehicle. Police chased the suspects but soon called off the pursuit over safety concerns. It appeared that the suspects were on Highway 50 heading to Sacramento. Law enforcement officers soon spotted the suspects again. This time, they were chased all the way to Hamilton Street in North Sacramento. All three suspects tried to get out and run, police say, but officers promptly arrested them. The suspects arrested have been identified as 40-year-old Vailoauta Lopa, 39-year-old Estephan Villegas, and 35-year-old Maryssa Meza. All three have been booked into Sacramento County Jail.

Deputies said the 7-month-old boy was reported missing on Thursday at 7:45 p.m. Investigators said he was last seen wearing a black Nike onesie. Elderly Jeep driver crashes into pedestrian and building in Northern California, police say

( — A pedestrian was injured and a Northern California business sustained damage after an elderly Jeep driver crashed into them, according to the Galt Police Department. On Tuesday afternoon, GPD officers responded to a report of a vehicle collision involving a structure and a pedestrian at CVS Pharmacy, located at 1063 C Street. When officers arrived at the scene, they determined that an 81-year-old woman, the sole occupant of a Jeep Cherokee, attempted to park in a space in front of the business. Claire's, Icing on the verge of closing more than 1,000 US stores amid bankruptcy While parking, GPD said the woman inadvertently accelerated, causing the vehicle to drive up onto the sidewalk in front the business, striking a pedestrian walking on the sidewalk. The driver also collided with a metal handrail and windows of the business. Both the driver and the pedestrian were treated for injuries at the scene by Cosumnes Fire personnel.
