Second parent shares 'strangling' fears at Scots primary school

The mum, who spoke anonymously to protect her daughter's identity, revealed a series of troubling incidents.
A second parent has come forward to claim her daughter fell victim of an 'attempted strangling' at a Scots primary school.

The mum, who spoke anonymously to protect her daughter's identity revealed a serious of troubling incidents which saw her daughter, allegedly strangled, choked, threatened with a knife an a abused by a fellow pupil.

She said her child had to be regularly taken out of her P4 class due to the violence she faced. And she feared for her daughter who has 'anxiety' about returning to school to start P5, Edinburgh Live reports.

'I feel physically sick at her lack of safety,' the mum said. 'She is terrified, she walks to school and comes home in tears.
'Each day I'm waiting by the phone to hear she has been hurt again. I feel like her education is being failed and they are not interested in taking on my complaint.
'The child who is doing this to her needs proper support. He should not be in a mainstream setting.
'I keep getting told this child is entitled to a state education. So is my child and she currently isn't getting that. They are failing my child.'
The latest incident of strangling apparently took place shortly after her daughter had suffered from a broken collar bone which left her in serious pain. Another incident of choking is said to have taken place at the school.
'My daughter has been strangled and choked on two occasions now,' the mum added. 'She was also attacked with Lego.

'The boy threatened her by saying he was going to the canteen to get a knife for her. The way the school handles it also makes her a target for this boy.
'Their classroom is being evacuated all the time due to the boy throwing tables and chairs. He even attacked the teacher and smashed up thousands of pounds worth of equipment.

'He also swears and uses vile language towards my daughter and others. I'm at the stage where I'm considering going to the police as the council and school are doing nothing.
'Her anxiety is through the roof about going back to school. We are speaking to a GP this week for help and advice in regards to what we can do.
'I am an NHS worker and have had to take a long period of time off work to support my child with her needs with the ongoing issues.'

Our sister title Edinburgh Live previously reported on violence at the same school. They told how a boy had targeted another girl over the course of the 2024/25 academic year.

The mother, who we chose not to name to protect her daughter's identity, has said her nine-year-old has been observed to have PTSD symptoms and suffer from anxiety as well as incontinence as a result of the multiple alleged attacks.

On three occasions the attempt to strangle her daughter took place in school with another two taking place at the after school club which the parent has since removed her daughter from. An image shared at the time of reporting showed red marks on the young girl's neck.
She also raised concerns about the young boy being found to have snapped cutlery items which were sharpened to points in his school tray at the end of the school year.
'There have been three instances of her being strangled at school and two at the after school club by the same boy,' she claimed. 'After the first incident we were told preventative steps were put in place but it keeps happening.
'On the second occasion I got a call from the deputy head telling me another boy had pinned her down while the same boy strangled her. I was then assured they would be separated and I was confident something would be done as staff seemed understanding. That was until it happened again.'
A Midlothian council spokesman said: 'As we would always advise, families should work with the school. We do not comment on individual cases.'

Stripper 'jiggled bride-to-be's breasts' & 'forced her legs open'

Stuart Kennedy, 32, appeared in court after a bride-to-be claimed he jiggled her breasts and forced her legs open during her hen party, despite allegedly telling him 'no thank you' A stripper has been accused of "jiggling a bride-to-be's breasts" during a performance at her hen party. ‌ The 32-year-old lawyer said she became hysterical and ran off to vomit during the performance, despite repeatedly telling Stuart Kennedy - dressed as a firefighter - "no thank you". The bride-to-be said she was "shocked" and "froze" when the stripper burst into the party at the luxury Scottish hotel Crieff Hydro, around 40 miles west of Dundee. The woman told a trial at Perth Sheriff Court that she was embarrassed and felt forced to participate in the show after it was secretly arranged by one of her sisters. ‌ ‌ The woman, from the highlands, claimed she repeatedly said "no thank you" to Kennedy, but said he carried on despite her clearly being uncomfortable, according to the Daily Record. She said: "The door burst open and slammed hard against the opposite wall. A man dressed in a firefighter's uniform came in. "I began to realise he was there as some form of entertainment. I started crying and panicking. Eventually I understood he was there for me as he asked who the bride was. I decided I had to grin and bear it and go through it. It's not my preference, that kind of activity. I didn't think I was in danger, just that it would be unpleasant and not to my taste. Me storming off felt like it would be an over-reaction." The bride-to-be said 15 people had gone to the hotel, on March 22, 2024, for a prosecco and pizza party ahead of her wedding. The bride claimed she told the stripper multiple times that she did not want to patriciate. She said: "I wasn't fully appreciating what he was doing. I was just in shock. His crotch was within half a foot of my face. I was trying to communicate that I was not a willing participant. I was just cringing away from him constantly. He forced his hands between my thighs to open my legs. I resisted it but I was also frightened by now. His first move was to make me simulate giving him oral sex. "I started to comply with him because I didn't know what he was going to do next. He still had his trousers on. He had sewn a fake erection into the crotch. It felt like a bean bag. He was fiddling with the button on my shirt at one point. At my cleavage. There was more grinding against my thigh. I was trying to keep my legs together." The bride-to-be said she ran to the toilet to vomit after one of his alleged actions. She added: "He was behind me and went straight to grab both my breasts and jiggled them about. He saw some of the girls gasp. By now they were all panicking. When he was not near me I bolted towards the door. I made it to the bathroom. I was physically sick. I vomited in the toilet. I was crying hysterically and screaming and grabbing my hair." ‌ Her younger sister told police in a statement: "He put his legs over her and did a Magic Mike sort of thing. He got his waist close to her face. He was dry humping her while she was sat down. She was visibly upset and left. I think the way he stormed in gave us a fright and this triggered her. I enjoyed myself and I don't remember anything you wouldn't expect from a stripper at a hen party." Kennedy denies sexually assaulting the woman in Crieff Hydro and denies repeatedly handling the woman's thighs and private parts, attempting to kiss her, and handling her breasts and shaking them. The stripper, from Aberdeen, further denies intentionally causing the same woman to participate in sexual activity by sitting on her, seizing her by the head and restraining her. The charge alleges he induced her to drink from a penis-shaped straw, repeatedly thrust his hips towards her body, took hold of her arm and forced her to handle a fake penis, and seized her arms and placed them against his chest. The hen's middle sister, who paid around £400 to Aberdeen-based AlphaMale Strippers & Butlers to hire Kennedy, said she immediately realised it was a mistake. She told the trial: "I was nervous. I wasn't sure if it was a good idea or not." Asked if she had "buyer's regret" about booking a stripper, she said: "One hundred per cent." The law student, 28, said: "He stood her up at one point and reached around and grabbed her boobs aggressively. I remember it took my breath away a wee bit, because I just didn't think that was right. It was not long after that she left, she ran out the room and locked herself in the bathroom."

Sex for Sale: Trade in human flesh moved off streets as traffickers made millions promising women new lives

Many women who now advertise sex services online in Scotland are also the victims of ruthless people trafficking gangs Fifteen years ago much of the street prostitution which blighted Scotland had disappeared. ‌ Women were now advertising their services online on adult websites from flats, hotels and even AirBnb. ‌ There they could meet their clients in the relative safety of their own homes. On the surface it looked as though it was safer for the women and posed fewer problems for the police. A case of out of sight and out of mind. ‌ But in many cases it was replaced by a far more serious problem for both the police and women - sex trafficking. Organised crime groups were quick to see the riches to be made from selling sex on the new adult websites and controlling the women who supplied the services. Victims were lured from their homes in Eastern Europe and Asia to Scotland with promises of a new life only to be sold as sex slaves and a life of misery in flats which had been turned into brothels. Their services were then being advertised on the same adult websites as the new generation of women who had chosen to work there rather than on the streets. For the police one problem had been replaced with another A number of cases in the last year have shown the horrifying extent of the problem and the millions that the ruthless gangs are making. In May a police Proceeds of Crime investigation revealed how convicted sex trafficker Jagpal Singh, 55 - who duped Chinese women into travelling to Scotland and forcing them into prostitution - had made more than £2.6 million from the evil trade in human flesh. ‌ He was already serving a 10 year jail term imposed in 2022 at the High Court in Glasgow. Singh, his partner Donglin Zhang,51, and Albanian Vlassis Ntaoulias,35, had set up a network of brothels across the city. A fourth Thai citizen Boonsong Wannas, 62, helped them bring women from Asia who were then were forced to provide sex services. Their business was abruptly ended after police visited one of their seven brothel premises and found a distressed Chinese woman inside who revealed she'd been forced to sell her body. ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Last October in a separate Proceeds of Crime case, a Chinese crime gang that trafficked vulnerable women and forced them to work in brothels in Glasgow and Edinburgh were found to have made almost £5million from their misery. Xiao Min, 39, Qin Huang, 31, and Guolei Huang, 35, were captured as part of Operation Fasthold, a joint Police Scotland and Home Office investigation and jailed for a total of 20 years and nine months in June last year. ‌ At the time Detective Chief Inspector Iain Nelson of Police Scotland said: "We estimated that somewhere between £3.5million and £5million of revenue was being taken from their activities. That gave us an impression of the scale at which they were operating.' Qin's role was the daily management of the trafficked women, who were mostly from east Asia, and overseeing the advertising of sexual services on adult websites. She was sentenced to eight years in prison. Guolei, who was jailed for four years and three months, was a "minder" who escorted and managed the women while they acted as prostitutes. Xiao, who was described as the "mastermind" of the operation, was sentenced to eight years and nine months behind bars. His role was to supervise the renting of several properties in Glasgow and Edinburgh for use as brothels and provide false papers to landlords to hide the fact that the women were being trafficked. ‌ Another case of sex workers being exploited online involved Thai brothel madam Mananchaya Wanitthanawet who operated brothels from AirBnb. The 44 year-old trafficked women from Thailand to Scotland to become prostitutes and was jailed for nine years in November at the High Court in Dundee. Victims were lured to Scotland under false pretences. One of the women was promised work as a masseuse but was put up in a flat in Dundee and had to offer sex to clients. Initially she was told to pay £35,000 to Wanitthanawet for helping her come to the UK in 2019 but that was then increased to £90,000. Wanitthanawet was convicted of recruiting and transporting the women and forcing them into prostitution over a three year period. ‌ Karen Miller of anti-trafficking charity Restore Glasgow believes that the vast majority of sex workers who now advertise online are victims of abuse and exploitation in one form or another and may be no better off than those who used to work as street prostitutes. She said:"It is nothing like the movie Pretty Woman. "Many of these women are lured into prostitution by the sex traffickers with the promise of romance, a home, or a better life. "They are innocents, then they find out what is expected of them. "There is also straight up violence. "I have heard of women being forcibly taken of the street - in Albania - before being sent abroad. "There is also the promise of fake jobs such as hairdressing and au pairs. "Once they are out the country there is no way back." ‌ Karen believes few if any women ever go into sex work through choice. She added:"I have never actually met one. I couldn't say they don't exist. "I think they are like the unicorn. Hard to find. "If you bring the women in from abroad they are easier to exploit and they don't know the language or where they are. "I have met women who have been trafficked in the sex industry and it is only when they have escaped that they have found out what city they are in and in some cases the country." Karen is not convinced that moving online from the streets has made sex worker 's lives better. She added:"The immediate situation might be better in terms of being cleaner and warmer and possibly less violence. ‌ "It just means it is much harder for them to get help as no one know where they are." Sex for Sale: Secret deal that kept saunas open for business

A police crackdown on saunas in Edinburgh was foiled after a lawyer uncovered a 27 year old secret deal giving owners immunity from prosecution In 2013 the newly appointed Chief Constable of Police Scotland Sir Stephen House launched a crackdown on sauna and massage parlour operators across the country. ‌ Sir Stephen had long believed - not without justification - that they were fronts for money laundering and criminality and needed to be closed. In particular he wanted to target Edinburgh's controversial sex for sale industry believing a blind eye had been turned by his predecessors over the years. ‌ In reality his suspicious on that particular front were well founded - but not in the way that he thought. Sir Stephen targeted Edinburgh saunas within weeks of the country's new single force being introduced in April 2013. The initiative was even given a name Operation Windermere. ‌ In a series of high profile raids more than a dozen premises across Edinburgh were targeted resulting in their closure with a number of people charged with brothel keeping and living off immoral earnings. City saunas caught in the crackdown included including Scorpio Leisure in Albion Street, the Ambassador Sauna in Lothian Road, Carol's Sauna in Easter Road; Paradise Sauna in Roseburn Terace and premises in Blair Street and Dundas Street. However despite its best intentions Sir Stephen's crackdown foundered in the courts. Criminal charges against 11 people collapsed after it emerged - unbeknown to Mr House - that the sale of sex had effectively been legal in Edinburgh since 1986. A secret agreement had been signed by politicians, police and a senior Crown Office official that year amid fears the city would be devastated by an Aids epidemic. The rate of HIV infection among heroin addicts in the city had soared and many female users sold sex to feed their habit. The capital had become known as having the highest population of Aids sufferers in the United Kingdom. It was estimated around half of its' 2000 heroin users had the HIV virus. The epidemic had spread through the multiple use of injecting equipment - shared by up to 20 addicts at a time. ‌ As a result it was agreed saunas could have prostitutes on the premises and operate on the basis that they promoted safe sex and supplied condoms. The existence of the deal was revealed after one of the older sauna owners targeted in the 2013 crackdown asked his lawyers to check on the existence of the policy which he remembered from the 1980's. As a result, the decision was taken to drop all charges against the 11 men and women. Police Scotland's high-profile Operation Windermere had come to an embarrassing halt. The lawyer responsible for identifying the loophole was veteran solicitor 72-year-old Vincent Belmonte. He represented several saunas facing brothel-keeping charges as a result of the police raids. ‌ Belmonte discovered a deal had in fact been struck between owners, council bosses, police and prosecutors. He then discovered that the man who had signed it on behalf of the Crown Office - Kenneth McIver - was not only still alive but now a Sheriff. In an interview in 2016 with our sister paper the Sunday Mail l Belmonte said: "I was absolutely certain there was a policy and just needed to prove it. "The saunas were trading legally in my eyes as a lawyer. "I asked all the agencies to send me records of their meetings which had set up the policy. "None of them cooperated. I then wrote asking to take statements from the people involved in the policy, one of whom was Sheriff McIver. "I was then told discreetly not to bother preparing for the case as it wasn't going ahead. ‌ "The Crown Office clearly didn't have any idea that the policy existed and had never been rescinded. "I knew then the Crown were in difficulties, so I wasn't surprised the case was dropped." Sheriff McIver had helped formulate the agreement in 1986 while working as a senior depute fiscal in the Crown Office. Though McIver declined to speak to Belmonte, the lawyer then wrote to the Crown Office to tell them about the policy and McIver's role. Officials interviewed McIver who confirmed the existence of the policy. When Belmonte and other lawyers turned up at Edinburgh Sheriff Court for trial in November 2015, they were told that all charges were dropped and the case was not going ahead. Brothel-keeping and prostitution charges against other bosses were also ditched. ‌ Belmonte said that the police should have made more checks in June 2013 before they raided the city's saunas and tried to close them down. Many of them had their licences suspended following the raids. However most were able to remain open after lodging appeals. In 2014 Edinburgh City Council decided to stop granting saunas public entertainment licences which had been introduced in number of saunas dropped after the raids and the council move. A smaller number now operate. During the 1980's former criminal lawyer James McIntyre represented the owner of a sauna in Torphichen Place, Edinburgh, which was directly across the road from one of Edinburgh's biggest and busiest police stations. During that time his clients premises were never raided once and was aware that the police turned a blind one to what was allegedly going on inside. ‌ In fact the client was so confident there would be no raid that he would often hold business meetings in an office in the sauna premises - including consultations with his lawyer. James told the Daily Record:"My client's sauna was literally facing the police station. "I wasn't aware of any agreement then but I was very aware that nothing ever happenned. "There was never any question in my mind that these places would get raided. "At that time there was almost one on every street in Edinburgh. "To me the saunas kept girls safe rather than standing on the corners of somewhere like Glasgow Green where anything can happen to them."
