A survey involving 500 individuals aged 13 to 18 revealed that 46 per cent are already keen for their career to reflect their personal values.
Moreover, a significant 77 per cent are contemplating the importance of mental health support at work, with 74 per cent convinced it leads to happier, more loyal employees, and 36 per cent believing it ensures no colleague feels excluded.
Conversely, only eight per cent place importance on company-wide events. When considering job perks, teens show a preference for free private healthcare (17 per cent) over benefits like a company car scheme (seven per cent).
Dr. Amy Pressland, representing Benenden Health which commissioned the study as part of its 'Future of Work' report, commented: "This research demonstrates a distinct step-change for the next generation of workers and what's important to them.
"Employers need to urgently consider what this means for how they design workplaces, roles and employee benefits. The company car and the Christmas party may become de-prioritised as Generation Alpha (born between 2010 and 2024) join the workforce.
"Front and centre for Gen Alpha is health - they are the generation most concerned with mental health, supporting neurodiversity, and will prioritise employers who align with their concerns and values."

The research further surveyed the teens' parents, uncovering that 54 per cent are concerned about their offspring's transition into the workforce.

Their main worries include the disparity between skills taught in schools and those required in a professional setting (41 per cent), along with apprehensions about toxic work environments (39 per cent). Additionally, 27 per cent fear their young adults may not appreciate the corporate culture.
Nevertheless, a whopping 85 per cent acknowledged that attitudes towards work have significantly altered since they embarked on their own careers.
Notably, 39 per cent observed an increase in mental health support and 53 per cent identified more flexible working arrangements. Encouragingly, 35 per cent perceive an upswing in general workplace supportiveness in recent times.
Moreover, a separate study of 500 HR professionals by OnePoll for the healthcare provider disclosed that 59 per cent have noticed the younger generation's preference for different perks compared to their elders.

These include desires for more adaptable hours, the option of remote working, and enhanced support for mental wellbeing. Other sought-after benefits are gym memberships, private healthcare provision, and the allowance of pets in the office space.
Dr. Amy Pressland from Benenden Health commented: "With Generation Alpha mere years away from entering the workforce en masse, now is the time for employers, CEOs, IT and HR directors to consider how they must adapt their workplaces to attract the most diverse and digitally-savvy generation to date."

SEPSIS is a life-threatening reaction to an infection and happens when your immune system overreacts to an infection and starts to damage your body's tissue and organs. The condition is always triggered by an infection - but it is not contagious and cannot be passed from person to person. Most often the culprit is an infection we all recognise - pneumonia, urinary infections (UTIs), skin infections, including cellulitis, and infections in the stomach, for example appendicitis. Typically, when a person suffers a minor cut, the area surrounding the wound will become red, swollen and warm to touch. This is evidence the body's immune system has kicked into action, releasing white blood cells to the site of the injury to kill off the bacteria causing the infection. The white blood cells and platelets form blood clots in the tissues around the cut. Blood vessels swell to allow more blood to flow, and they become leaky, allowing infection-fighting cells to get out of the blood and into the tissues where they are needed. This causes inflammation, which appears to us as the red, warm swelling. When sepsis happens, this system goes into overdrive. The inflammation that is typically seen just around the minor cut, spreads through the body, affecting healthy tissue and organs. The immune system - the body's defence mechanism - overreacts and the result is it attacks the body. It can lead to organ failure and septic shock, which can prove fatal. Bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites can all trigger sepsis - though the most dangerous culprit is bacteria. In developing nations, the condition remains a leading cause of death. Known by its colloquial name "blood poisoning", sepsis is also often referred to as a "flesh-eating disease". Di Sarno's family also fell ill as they were all rushed to Annunziata Hospital in Cosenza including two 17-year-olds and two women in their 40s. Two of the patients were reportedly in a serious condition when they arrived at the intensive care unit. They were all showing signs of botulism linked to the popular green vegetable. Botulism is a rare condition which can often be life-threatening and is caused by toxins produced by Clostridium botulinum bacteria. It can attack the nervous system, leading to breathing issues, muscle paralysis, and, in about 10 per cent of cases, can be deadly. The most common way to get botulism is by eating food contaminated with the toxin, usually due to improper processing. The Paola Public Prosecutor's Office immediately ordered the seizure of jars of broccoli in oil, according to local media. After finishing the meal, the artist and musician was driving his loved ones back home to Cercola, in the province of Naples. As they merged onto the highway near Lagonegro in Potenza, the 52-year-old suddenly fell ill. His health rapidly worsened after he was forced to stop in the small town in Basilicata on Thursday. Emergency officials were called but he tragically died before reaching hospital. Public support for prostate cancer screening has grown following a Daily Mail campaign, a poll reveals. Some 91 per cent of Britons now believe the NHS should offer regular prostate checks for men, as it does for breast cancer in women. This is up from 86 per cent in April when OnePoll last conducted its survey on behalf of the charity Prostate Cancer Research. The latest findings found widespread problems around the current system, which relies on men to come forward and ask GPs for tests when they already have concerns. Responses from 2,000 adults show one in five has had a male family member or close friend die from the disease. Among those, more than three quarters believed earlier diagnosis could have saved the life of their loved one. And more than one quarter of those polled had no trust, or not much trust at all, in the current NHS system to detect prostate cancer at an early stage. Prostate cancer is the most diagnosed form of cancer in England, with 55,033 cases identified in 2023, the latest figures show. Catching it early improves the odds of successfully treating the disease, which kills around 10,200 men in England each year. The Daily Mail is campaigning for a national prostate cancer screening programme, initially targeted at high risk men. This includes those who are black or have a family history of the disease. Women aged between 50 and 70 are offered mammograms every three years. More than half of those polled said their opinion of their local MP would worsen if they opposed the introduction of screening. The survey found a strong desire among its respondents for the NHS to be more proactive about collecting and sharing information about medical history. Almost seven in ten (69 per cent) said in the event they were diagnosed with prostate cancer, they would want their male family members' NHS records to be automatically updated to reflect this. There was also considerable appetite for technological innovation, with 60 per cent supporting the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to improve diagnosis, for example, by reading MRI scans faster and more accurately. Health secretary Wes Streeting has declared his support for a national prostate cancer screening programme in a major boost for the Mail's campaign. The health secretary told MPs in April that he would like to see the NHS proactively offer men tests for the disease in a move that could prevent thousands of needless deaths. He said he is 'particularly sympathetic' to the argument that this should initially be targeted at high-risk men. The call for targeted screening has also been backed by former prime minister Rishi Sunak, former home secretary Sir James Cleverly and Calvin Bailey, a Labour MP and the chairman of the all-party parliamentary group on prostate cancer. David James, the director of patient projects and influencing at Prostate Cancer Research, said: 'These poll results send an unequivocal message to policymakers: the public overwhelmingly supports the introduction of a national screening programme. 'The current system is clearly failing to meet the public's expectations for early detection and proactive management of genetic risk. 'It's time for the NHS to prioritise a targeted screening programme that could save countless lives and alleviate the long-term burden on our healthcare system.' The charity's research suggests targeted screening, focused on black men, those with BRCA1/2 mutations and those with a family history of the disease, could mean an additional 775 early diagnoses per year for those aged between 45 and 69. The research also suggests these changes could spare almost 300 men a year from a stage 4 diagnosis, in which prostate cancer becomes incurable. A Department of Health and Social Care spokesman said: 'This Government has been clear we would like to see screening in place, but the decision must be evidence-led.'
