NBA mock draft 2025: AI predictions roundup for first round picks

USA Today25-06-2025
Cooper Flagg and Dylan Harper are the two players and picks NBA mock drafts and AI agree on.
If the folks who devise mock drafts and the data and algorithms that fuel artificial intelligence are correct, the first two picks of the 2025 NBA draft are a near certainty at this point, despite still being a week away.
Cooper Flagg is going to be the No. 1 selection by the Dallas Mavericks and the Rutgers guard Dylan Harper will go No. 2 to the San Antonio Spurs when the NBA convenes in Brooklyn beginning Wednesday, June 25 for the draft. Almost every mock draft, including the most recent one produced by USA TODAY's NBA experts, has them being chosen in that order. But so does almost every major AI platform.
USA TODAY Sports asked five AI programs ‒ Microsoft Copilot AI, Meta AI, Grok AI, Google Gemini AI, ChatGPT AI ‒ to produce simulations of every pick during the 2025 NBA draft first round. Each one had Flagg as the No. 1 pick and Harper as the No. 2 choice. After that, however, there wasn't much consensus between the humans and AI.
Baylor's VJ Edgecombe, Rutgers wing Ace Bailey, Duke's Kon Knueppel and Texas guard Tre Johnson were the only other consensus top-10 picks, according to the AI projections. There were 45 players chosen overall among the various AI projections for the 30 spots in the first round and a wide range of outcomes, particularly outside the lottery selections.
Here's a breakdown of each AI simulation for the first round of the 2025 NBA draft, as well as how they compare to the latest USA TODAY Sports mock draft:

Note: AI simulations and USA TODAY Sports mock draft were conducted prior to the Desmond Bane trade on June 15 in which the Memphis Grizzlies acquired this pick from the Orlando Magic.

How to watch Arsenal vs Athletic Bilbao live: Stream link, TV channel, team news, prediction

Arsenal host Athletic Bilbao in their final preseason friendly on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium and Mikel Arteta needs to see a big improvement from his side. The Gunners lost 3-2 against Villarreal on Wednesday as Viktor Gyokeres got off to a slow start on his first start since his big-money arrival from Sporting Lisbon. Arsenal have made plenty of new signings but defensively they looked shaky and Arteta will be a little concerned after back-to-back defeats to Tottenham Hotspur and Villarreal in preseason. Yes, it's only preseason, but he will want to generate some momentum going into the new campaign where a trophy is a must. Bilbao put on an entertaining show against Liverpool on Monday as they lost both games at Anfield (4-1 and 3-2) but showed plenty of attacking intent. Ernesto Valverde's side are set to challenge for another top four finish in La Liga this season and are excited about their to return to the Champions League. For live updates and highlights throughout Arsenal vs Athletic Bilbao, check out PST's live blog coverage below. How to watch Arsenal vs Athletic Bilbao live, stream link and start time Kick off time: 12pm ET Saturday (August 9) Venue: Emirates Stadium — London TV Channel/Streaming: Arsenal team news, focus All eyes will be on Gyokeres as he struggled to make an impact on his first start. He made some good runs but Arsenal's players are perhaps not quite up to speed with how to provide the towering Swedish striker with the service he needs as they haven't had a player like that up top since Arteta took charge. Elsewhere there are injury issues regarding Leandro Trossard, Kai Havertz and Riccardo Calafiori, while Gabriel Jesus continues his recovery from a long-term injury. Arsenal need the likes of Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and William Saliba to step up early in the season and help them hit the ground running with some tough fixtures in the opening weeks of the new campaign. Athletic Bilbao team news, focus Bilbao's star attacker Nico Williams did not get his move to Barcelona this summer but he played and starred against Liverpool at Anfield on Monday. Williams and his brother Inaki started out wide, while top goalscorer from last season Oihan Sancet scored and Bilbao are a very dangerous team on the counter. This will be a very good test for Arsenal against a team which doesn't mind sitting deep and then pressing in the right moments to spring counters. Arsenal vs Athletic Bilbao prediction This is the final test of preseason for Arsenal and everyone wants to see a big step up in performance levels, and a result. Arteta will go strong with his starting lineup and we should expect a big win. Arsenal 4-2 Athletic Bilbao.

Steph Curry lands in top five of Hoops Hype's top-26 point guards for 2025-26 season

With the offseason slowing down and the start of training camp around the corner, Hoops Hype is preparing for the start of the upcoming season with their set of projected rankings of the top-26 point guards for the 2025-26 season. Frank Urbina and the Hoops Hype team ranked Steph Curry just inside the top five on the list of projections at No. 5 overall. Urbina called Curry's ranking at No. 5 one of the "hotter takes" in this set of projections. Via Hoops Hype: Our logic isn't overly complicated. We're just taking into account the fact that Curry is 37 years old with a lot of miles on his body, along with the fact that there are a good amount of elite point guards projected to have big seasons in 2025-26. Read the full breakdown on Curry's ranking and the rest of the projections via Hoops Hype here. Despite Curry's age at 37, the sharpshooting guard is coming off another productive season, earning All-Star honors and a spot on the second-team All-NBA. While helping lead the Warriors through the play-in game to the second round of the postseason, Curry averaged 24.5 points on 44.8% shooting from the field and 39.7% from beyond the arc while adding six assists and 4.4 rebounds per game. Alongside Jimmy Butler, the Warriors will need Curry to have another signature campaign in 2025-26 to compete for a spot in the playoffs. The four players landing in front of Curry in the top five included Detroit's Cade Cunningham (No. 4), New York's Jalen Brunson (No. 3), Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic (No. 2), and reigning Most Valuable Player Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (No. 1).
