Second crocodile sighting closes Manton Dam to water activities hours after reopening
After being sent footage of a crocodile in Manton Dam, staff said they are taking the matter 'seriously' and closing the recreation area to in-water activities. The popular spot was previously closed on Thursday after a 3m saltwater crocodile was alleged spotted. Rangers from Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife carried out a four-night survey of the area over the weekend. During that time, they reported seeing no crocodiles that large and only saw freshwater crocodiles which are 'generally not considered dangerous'. A spokesperson for Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife announced on Monday morning that the dam would reopen to the public at midday. As a precaution, they said they have three crocodile traps in place which are checked each week and monthly spotlight surveys are carried out throughout the year. However, at 4.30pm, it was announced that the dam was closed to all in-water activities apart from fishing and boating. A spokesperson said they had received footage of a crocodile in the area and would need to carry out additional surveys to try and locate it. 'While the species is unable to be verified, we are acting in good faith and taking the matter seriously,' they said. 'Crocodiles can become survey and trap shy. 'Our park rangers will have a couple of nights without survey but will need to conduct additional surveys later this week in efforts to locate it. 'This may again require a full closure.' Those wishing to visits any parks were urged to monitor the official website for updates as areas may need to be closed at short notice.

Ferries cancelled, flights affected as thick blanket of fog descends over Sydney
Flights have been affected, ferries have been brought to a standstill and motorists are facing traffic nightmares from a thick blanket of fog which has descended over Sydney. Eerie pictures show fog blanketing the Sydney Harbour Bridge on Monday, reducing visibility to barely more than 100 metres during morning peak hour. Sydney Ferries suspended all voyages for a time. Flights have also been affected, with air traffic control spacing out arrivals and departures due to the poor visibility. Road users were being cautioned right across the metro area. 'Reduced visibility in fog will make road conditions dangerous during Monday in all suburbs,' an early morning Bureau of Meteorology alert said. However, by 8.30am the issues on the road had eased. 'The road weather alert for all suburbs has been cancelled, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further alerts will be issued if necessary,' an updated alert says. Despite conditions easing on the roads, ferries were not expected to operate. 'No Sydney ferries are running at all due to the heavy fog,' Sydney Ferries said on Monday morning. 'Make alternative travel arrangements.' However, as the fog lifted, ferries from began operating again, from about 9am, a Transport for NSW spokesman told NewsWire. Footage posted online shows the thick blanket of fog engulfing the city. While there are blue skies above the low level of fog, the mist covers city skyscrapers and landmarks. Video posted from what appears to be an apartment, at least 15 stories high, shows just the top of the Sydney Tower poking out. 'Most of the Sydney landmarks – Harbour Bridge, Opera House and even some of the Sydney Tower, are still asleep behind a blanket of fog. I think it's giving us a message for the start of the work week,' the video caption reads.

COALITION COMEBACK Just over a week after breaking up, the Coalition is officially back together. Yep! Just over a week after breaking up, the Coalition is back together. As you might know, the Coalition is made up of the Liberal Party and the National Party. And while they're separate parties, they work together, vote similar ways, and if elected, share power. But recently things got rocky. The Liberals had a rough election. In fact, it was one of their biggest losses ever; it lead to a new leader and some policy changes. But the Nationals, who only lost one seat, didn't want to give up on some big polices, like nuclear power and cracking down on big supermarkets, so they decided to end things and walk away. But now, after some time apart, the Liberal and National parties have worked out their differences and have struck a deal to become the coalition once again. HARRY POTTER CAST After a massive search, the lead roles in HBO's upcoming Harry Potter series have been found! 11 year old Dominic McLaughlin will play the title character, Harry Potter, while Arabella Stanton will play Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout will play Ron Weasley. They were cast after a big open casting call for British children, and are set to make their on screen debut in the roles next year. ANTARCTICA TOURISM When you think of going on a holiday, you probably don't think of Antarctica. But new research shows it's quickly becoming one of the hottest, or coldest, tickets in town! Antarctica might not be the first place you think of for a holiday. But earth's coldest, driest, windiest, continent is getting more and more popular. You see, thirty years ago, about eight-thousand tourists visited Antarctica each year, but today, that number's closer to 125,000 and a new report says that if things keep heading in the same direction, yearly visits could reach almost half a million people in the next decade! That's got some experts worried, because too many visitors could have a negative impact local wildlife, the landscape, and even spread diseases. So, they're calling for more rules around tourism to the continent like limits on how many people can visit certain areas and extra tourism taxes to help better protect the environment. VEGGIE ORCHESTRA First up to London's Vegetable Orchestra! Yes, they've made quite a name for themselves recently, with performances on TV and in front of King Charles. They make their instruments themselves, using a power drill, a paring knife, and a bit of know-how. The idea first came about when Tim here found out about a man in Japan who makes recorders out of carrots, and the rest is history. BEATBOXING NUNS Now to Brazil, where these beatboxing nuns have gone viral after performing on live TV. The clip, which was originally broadcast on the local Catholic TV channel, quickly spread on social media, with one of the nuns racking up more than a hundred thousand followers as a result! The nuns say the reason they beatbox is because they work a lot with young people doing it rough, and music helps them to connect. AUSSIE PILOT AEROBICS And finally, back home to an Aussie pilot pulling off some incredible stunts. Emma McDonald took to the skies over Raglan in Central Queensland, for the Old Station air show, performing daredevil flips, dives and rolls at speeds of 350 kilometres per hour!
